0. The Viral Video

A man rushed in front of the camera. He wore a PPE suit, with only his head exposed. Sweat poured down his face, and fear was evident in his eyes. He kept glancing at the side as if anticipating something. Not a Filipino, he had fair skin and blueish-gray eyes. His blonde hair had turned chocolate-brown due to sweat.

"O-Okay... okay," he said, taking a deep breath and briefly closing his eyes. He opened them again and faced the camera. "I-I... oh my God!" he choked back a sob, covering his mouth to prevent anyone from hearing him.

"I-I'm James. I work for WIC company. They are the most... m-most successful pharmaceutical company in the w-world. I-I know you already know about them." He paused, taking another deep breath. "I am a scientist there. W-We were developing a medicine that could cure cancer. I-If only... if only... oh, God!" He stopped speaking, wiping away his tears. "I-I honestly don't know if I can still make it out alive. To my wife... I'm sorry if I can't make it home. I'm sorry... I'm sorry!" he broke down in tears. But it's noticeable that he's trying hard to suppress any sound from coming out of his mouth. He keeps glancing at his side until he abruptly stopped. The man took the camera and changed his position. Now, he's leaning against the wall and continuously looks forward.

"T-This place—" His expression became serious even as tears continued to flow. "Everything is a mess right now. My colleagues. The staff, everyone is gone! We tried to survive. To fix it! But the WIC failed us! They left us for dead just because we cannot do what they wanted!" The man flinched when there was a sudden thud. It didn't take long before he heard rapid footsteps. He pressed his hand against his mouth again, his breathing quickening. "O-Okay, okay..."

"W-We were making medicine to cure cancer. It was going well. It started well. First, we tested it on animals. Everything was perfect. Until we finally—"

Thud!

The man looked in front of him. He closed his eyes and restrained himself again. When he opened them again, he looked at the camera once more.

"W-We tested the cure on one of the locals. This man has a stomach—"

Another thud made him stop. The man stood up. The video was already shaking as the man moved forward. He stopped when he got close to the door. He was about to put his ear on the door when there was a series of loud thumps. Following that were strange growls. Terrified, the man sat back down, facing the camera, and started to cry.

"I’m going to die! I’m going to die! Oh, God!” He sobbed. "P-Please! If you can watch this video, go now! Find an island. Bring your family and loved ones. Stock some food. Isolate everything! The world will end! The end is near!" he shouted.

The thuds became more violent. The growls grew louder. The man huddled closer to the side as if it would protect him from whatever was coming.

"T-They're dead! Everyone is dead except for her! It was successful for her. She's alive! B-But this happened... the first cure was not successful and it had a different effect on other people. They turned to—"

"Grrr..."

The man's eyes widened. From the video, it can be seen that he was looking at something. After a few moments, he dropped the camera, and it flew somewhere. Only his feet were visible, along with some other people's feet entering the room. But their skin color was unusual.

"H-Help! Ahh! Help!" the man shouted. The growls from the strange creatures entering the room grew louder. It continued one after another until the surroundings gradually darkened, and the video abruptly ended.
