Jake’s eyes bolted open. She quickly shifted up, noticing they were on a bed. Everything around her was made of a strange blue crystal, reflecting off in every possible way. Though the brightness didn’t affect her as much as it should’ve, it still annoyed her.
She was in a small room, lined with a few book shelves and tables. The window in the corner only showed an endless black. Jake’s head hurt when she looked at it, eventually she pulled away and looked to her side. Both the rooms that were joined to her's looked exactly the same, each leading to 2 rooms of their own. Jake shook her head and groaned, turning back into the bed, and shutting her eyes.
She thought about the events that lead her as far as she’d gotten. Met mom again, found a pendant, found a pen, transported to a different dimension...Oh wait. Jake felt the pen free itself from its covers. She eyed it intently and held it close to her person
Soon afterwards, she heard a crash in the room besides her, followed by her sisters voice. Jake quickly hopped out of bed and make her way to the room besides her, unbeknownst to Aerith, who was looking around as she made her way to Jakes room. The two collided, with Aerith instantly pulling down her skirt and pushing whoever was in front of her away. Her gray drill-tails bounced up and down and Jake’s almond hair swished to the side. The two crashed down on the floor, and their eyes opened at the exact same time.
“Aerith!?”
“Jake!? Why are you girl?”
“Mom did it...she gave me a pen too; It makes coats”

“Wait, you met her too? That’s way cooler than mine, all I have is this stupid staff that explodes things”
Jake sighed and stood up, helping Aerith up too. Aerith looked at the pen, currently on the bed, and scoffed. She summoned her staff back and showed it off,
“Isn’t that the pen that you bought from Saul in the morning?” Aerith sighed, disappointed with her expectations of a grand contraption or device.
“Yeahhuh” Jake nodded. She looked around in a few of the rooms. Slowly starting to walk in the way Aerith came. Jake’s eyes browsed around some more. Everything was so shiny and crystalline and perfect looking it almost made her want to destroy it all.
“So...Mom’s kinda weird now isn’t she?” Jake remarked as she skipped past a few rooms. Aerith nodded and looked off at the floor, glints of her one red eye showing off,
“Well, it’s Spiritfawn now, according to her...You think this is all still about that Volcano dragon?”
“That’s what she told me, I guess she recruited both of us to help her” Jake frowned and eventually leaned on the side of a wall. “And we don’t even know where we are now, this place is like one big maze…”
“And everything around us is an endless void” Aerith continued, “Say, do you know Stephanie?”
“Stephanie Mcallister? Yeah of course, she’s from school, Layalli and her used to date” Jake recalled, elated. She laughed to herself, playing a few memories in her head.
“Me and her snuck through that huge mall over by where she lives, it was pretty fun. Then a weird white thing nearly killed us and this dragon lady had to rescue me...then I got here...Speaking of which she should be somewhere near here...”
The faint voice of a girl could be heard far off in the distance. They were talking to themselves and stomping about, clearly agitated and confused. Aerith took a look at Jake’s questioning face and gave an affirmative nod. Just as Jake was about to make her way towards Stephanie, she heard another voice now faintly resembling Layalli’s this time, and then Nadene’s, and Then Zackor—
“YO! Hey guys, it’s Jake! Get over here!” Jake cheerily shouted, waving her arms about. Her pen flew out towards the four now, trying to get their attention.
“Wait. Is that Aerith?” Stephanie trailed off. She brushed her shorter brown hair out of the way. They squinted her eyes carefully, noticing the small black dot at the end of a long hallway. Layali, Nadene, and Zackory all followed, with Layalli stay far behind the rest. They met each other in the middle, both groups out of breath.
“Hey...Aerith” Stephanie mumbled. She drifted her eyes into the corner and put up a shaking hand to her head, “Remember anything important while I was out? We kinda have some explaining to do…”
