"Hm. Then let's begin your tutoring."
She says, as if making it a big deal.
----------------------------------------
Somewhere in the city, inside a multi-story building, in one of the apartments.
A feather as red as fire touches the floor.
It radiates heat energy.
Soon enough, the furniture around starts to burn.
As the fire increases, the feather absorbs it.
Something starts to form inside the feather.
A being made from fire is born.
Four claws scorches wherever it goes, leaving a trail of destruction.
The residents of the apartment notice the increasing inferno, fleeing from there.
The monster blocks the passage in the hallway.
Clawing through the humans, as their body is consumed by flames.
The ones who didn't meet the monster are able to escape.
As they call for the firefighters.
The fire and smoke reaches the sky.
----------------------------------------
"Is that-"
Arstria stops as she looks at something.
"A fire-
I can't believe I completely forgot-"
Shock on her face.
A fire grows in a near building.
Fortunately, the fire service was already called on.
"Look, the firefighters are already going in."
"You don't understand... They won't be able to do anything.
We need to go, fast."
She grabs my hand as we run through the city.
I don't understand what she is thinking.
But she must feel responsible for something.
"Shit, shit, shit."
We finally reach the entrance.
Life signatures- I see they decreasing more and more.
----------------------------------------
"How dare you."
A fire fighter runs with a axe on hand.
Cutting through the monster's leg.
"What the fuck."
The fire reforms the leg soon after.
The creature roars as a ball made of flames is spurged out.
The fire proof vest the man was wearing is useless, as the flame ball burns through it, leaving a ball-shaped hole in his abdomen.
His organs falls through the hole as light leaves his eyes.
----------------------------------------
There are people dying.
"Saphria is occupied in a rift... Stanrocc got suspended...
And the other four are dumb enough to not get the class hints...
And as that wasn't enough, it is fire this time..."
Arstria seems desperate...
The life signatures in the building decreases more and more.
Now there are a single one.
"I will go look for Saphria.
You can go back home, or stay here, but leave if the fire gets too big."
Arstria nods and runs off.
As I keep looking at the flames.
There is someone inside.
Their feelings can be heard from so far away.
I can't stay here.
Before I know it, I have passed through the police at the entrance without them noticing.
Unauthorized content usage: if you discover this narrative on Amazon, report the violation.
I run through the fire, dodging falling debris.
Going into the elevator is definitely a bad idea.
I'd rather climb the stairs.
Whoever needs help in here is definitely trapped.
I follow the life signature, and-
"?"
Something turns to my direction.
A monster made out of fire, and behind him, a girl inside a blue sphere.
"W-What-"
Did Arstria know about this? That was why she was so desperate?
A monster-
Around it, I could see many corpses of fire fighters.
This is not only a fire.
This is an actual inferno.
The monster dashes in my direction.
Before its attack can connect I jump backwards.
Is it too late to go away-
Even so, there is a child in danger.
And there is a reptilian monster.
Something tells deep into my soul that I promised to not repeat the same mistake.
If I leave her here, her life will end.
But is there anything I can do in the first place?
I dodge against another slash.
But not before stumbling in a piece of wood.
----------------------------------------
"We're finally here. Elewp must have gone home."
"I have a question, my liege.
How do you plan to teach Elewp?
I can do it if you want, as your time is precious-"
Saphria, as if she didn't care about the fire at all is more concerned about my grades.
I better answer her fast, I don't want this entire block to get burned by the salamander.
"Have her clear around five rifts should get her on minimum grade.
I don't have time to teach her."
"Unlocking one's magic takes a month of deep meditation, so I don't think that is doable."
"That is the normal way.
There is also forced awakening.
When someone is near death, there is a good chance for their magic to awaken."
----------------------------------------
A lizard made out of fire.
Snake-like tongue and eyes.
As big as a komodo dragon.
The fire seems to be being absorbed by it.
So the more the fire spreads, the stronger it gets.
Grown men were unable to do anything.
It attacks, I defend my head with my arms.
"AAAAAAAAARGHHHH"
My conscience wavers, as my vision returns.
Where- Where are my arms.
From the elbow forward... I lost it.
AAAAHHH
I need to get out of here.
The creature is going to attack again.
I'm going to die.
Awake.
Awake.
Awake.
As the monster prepares to attack-
*Wind*
A gust of wind blows ahead of me pushing it backwards, as the fire making its body wave.
I feel as if something inside of me just clicked.
The wind around me, I can feel the fire consuming it.
As if the oxygen was desperate to escape.
The wind is just like me, trapped somewhere it shouldn't.
And going to be burned completely until it stops existing.
The concept making both of us unite in one.
I get up, without my arms, but still alive.
As I walk towards it, the monster attacks me again.
*Wind*
Another time, the fire making its body wavers, but then returns.
Nine, for some reason, the number nine echoes in my head.
The amount of time I can use this power.
I already used twice.
Sending a gust is not enough, what about a swirl?
*Wind*
Its body rotates as a mini-tornado envelops it.
It hits the ceiling, and falls.
Didn't work.
Six Tries left.
Pressured wind can cut through steel.
Then-
*Wind*
Slashes of wind decapitates the monster.
The head regrows with the fire.
Five Tries left.
The gust was able to waver its body.
If you blow wind into a fire, it will just increase.
If you blow a large amount of wind into a fire, it will put out the fire.
Then three, I will use the wind three times, it should be enough to kill it.
*Wind* *Wind* *Wind*
The fire wavers, then wavers, and fully vanishes.
Not a single speck of it remains.
The fire from the burning furniture coalesce to form its shape again.
Only two tries left.
My body feels heavy.
My arms are bleeding out.
"If you use all tries, you die."
I only just noticed, I'm using my soul's energy for this.
That is how I can control the wind.
If I run out of it, I die.
That is what my instinct is telling me.
Then, I effectively only have one try left.
The monster prepares to attack.
I'm going to die, if I fail to kill it in this attack, I die.
If I don't take a decision soon, I die.
Then, is there a way for me to-
The monster is bigger than before.
Why?
Wind... Oxygen.
Fire eats it to grow.
I was dumb to think I had wind strong enough to put out a monster's fire.
That is clear.
Even so, no matter if you're a monster that should not exist.
No matter that you can regrow your arms whenever you want.
No matter if you can kill humans like it is nothing.
You're still prone to follow the universe's rules.
What even is fire in the first place?
It is not energy or a type of matter.
It is a chemical reaction.
The carbon in the burned object is fused with the air to become CO2.
That is combustion.
It is true, this monster is not only in front of me.
It is the entire fire that is encompassing this building.
There is no wind or water that can kill it.
Then, the answer is simple.
I only have one try left.
But that is enough.
"Wind, you can escape.
Leave this place at once.
I command you."
"Humans can survive in the vacuum of space for minutes.
That is our strength.
But you, can't survive a single second."
The words came out.
I command you.
*Wind*
The oxygen molecules escape, going towards the sky.
The entire building collapse from the sudden vacuum that appeared.
And the fire is put out, completely.
The monster in front of me vanishes as if it never had existed before.
As everything collapses, all the corpses around me turn to dust.
As everything collapses, metal forms around me, enveloping a entire shell.
My conscience wavers a final time as I fall to the floor.
