Chapter 3 - Go on a date with a Yandere [Part 1]

"What the hell is going on..."

"Are the two of them really..."

"No way, Kawano-san wouldn't go out with a guy like him..."

Whispers followed us as I strolled past the school gates with Saiki by my side whom had been waiting at the front of the school gates for me to arrive.

"Hey, Naosuke-kun," Saiki was saying to me, staring anxiously ahead, "I was thinking last night... maybe we can just call each other by our first names now. I mean, you and Suda-san do it too... It kind of makes me feel like I'm less close than him if..."

"Right, so you just want me to call you Saiki?" I said.

She glanced at me with a heated blush, "I, if it's okay with you...?"

"Yeah, that's fine." I said. It's not like I had a choice.

I glanced around at the crowds of students on the school grounds that were staring our way.

"Listen, Saiki, I have a request too..." I said, turning to her.

"What is it, N, Naosuke...?"

"When we're at school, um, can we keep our relationship a secret?" I asked, then glanced at the confused look on her face, "Ah, it's just that everyone's looking at us, see...? Um, I don't want there to be much attention around us, you know. In case someone does something to you, Saiki, haha... Since you're so popular and all, some people might not like that you're dating me..."

Saiki shook her head, "If anyone says anything or tries to hurt you, Naosuke, I will stab them."

I grabbed Saiki's shoulders, causing her to jump, "P, please, Saiki... just do me this one favour... and don't go stabbing anyone."

Saiki glanced down with a face that was as red as a tomato at my hands that were on her shoulders.

"O, okay..." She said softly, "I'll only do it for you, Naosuke..."

I breathed a sigh of relief, letting go of her shoulders.

"Great," I said, forcing a smile at her, "You're the best, Saiki!"

She squirmed, clutching onto the sides of her flushed cheeks, "Jeez, Naosuke... if you say stuff like that, you'll make my heart..."

I glanced around at the increasing number of stares from the students around.

"Alright, thanks again, Saiki...!" I said quickly to Saiki, trying to get her to hurry and go. Then, in a quieter voice I said to her, "Remember what we agreed...!" Switching back to a louder voice so that the rest of the students around could hear, I said, "Thanks so much for lending me that maths book yesterday, Kawano-san! Super helpful stuff! Hahaha, now I won't bother you ever again!"

Saiki frowned at me, but played along reluctantly, "T, that's okay, Ishimoto-san... I hope that it helped your studies..."

The students around the school grounds began breathing sighs of relief.

"Oh, so that's the reason why Kawano-san was talking to that guy..."

"I guess that makes more sense, there's no way Kawano-san would date a guy that bland, haha..."

"See? I told you there's nothing going on..."

Saiki's eyebrow twitched with anger as she glanced around at the crowd.

"A, anyways, laters, Kawano-san!" I said, quickly walking past Saiki to get the hell out of there.

I entered the school building, then glancing around to make sure no one was watching, chuckled secretly to myself at the ingenuity of the plan I had concocted on the spot.

Now with this safety measure in place, I could go about my school life like normal without having to worry about being killed by that psychopath.

"Yo dude," Koichi's voice came from behind me as he walked over, "What are you chuckling to yourself in the corner about? Kind of giving me the creeps, dude."

"Heh, shut it, man," I glanced over at Koichi with a grin, "Something good finally happened after these past few days of utter bad luck."

"Oh yeah, what is it?" Koichi asked with a puzzled expression.

I stared at Koichi, contemplating telling him about the situation.

Should I tell him about it?

Unauthorized tale usage: if you spot this story on Amazon, report the violation.

Koichi was my best friend and I had complete trust in him to not tell anyone else.

The problem was that I didn't want to get him involved in this mess, especially after what had happened yesterday.

I guess I should just keep it to myself to keep Koichi safe.

"Don't worry about it, man," I said in an upbeat mood, "Anyways, you free after school today? We should hit the arcad--"

"Naosuke~~! I almost forgot!"

I dropped my jaw to the floor, seeing Saiki come running out of nowhere.

She stopped in front of us, then pulled something out of her bag, handing it to me with a flustered look.

It was a lunch bento.

"Here, it's your lunch!" Saiki said enthusiastically, "You normally just buy your lunch at the cafeteria, right? I thought I would make you lunch so that you would get something home cooked and healthier for a change..."

Then, she glanced up at me apprehensively, "Unless you don't want it...? You don't have to eat it if you don't want it, Naosuke, haha, I don't want to force you to do something you don't want to do..."

I stared at her baffled and at a loss for words. Koichi had a similar expression on his face.

"Ah," Saiki glanced to my side at Koichi, "Please excuse me for my rude manners, I'm Saiki Kawano," Saiki bowed politely to Koichi, "I'm also Naosuke's girlfriend. It's nice to meet you."

Koichi's eyes widened, glancing between Saiki and me like a goldfish.

"K, Kawano-san, right...?" Koichi said to Saiki, "Yeah, I know you... we're in the same class..."

"Yep!" Saiki smiled brightly, "I don't think we spoke much before this so I wanted to introduce myself officially as Naosuke's girlfriend."

I finally got over my shock, "Saiki, I thought we agreed we would keep this a secret at school..."

"Yes, but Koichi is your best friend!" Saiki said pleasantly, "So that doesn't count towards what we were saying about the rest of the school. It wouldn't make sense if your best friend doesn't know about your girlfriend!"

Saiki glanced around the school corridors where we were at. There were only a few students around, and they were all too busy talking to one another to notice what was going on here.

"Anyways, I'm going to go now, please eat my lunch, Naosuke! I made it with all my heart and love!" Saiki said with a blush, "A, also, please hang out with me after school today if that's okay... w, w, we should go on a d, date...!"

Spinning around, Saiki quickly darted away.

Silence etched between Koichi and me for a moment.

"Naosuke, you bastard! So that's what you were chuckling to yourself about!" Koichi bursted out laughing heartily, throwing an arm around my neck, "What the hell?! Since when did you and Kawano-san...! It all makes sense now why you guys were talking yesterday! Man, I'm so happy for you! Don't worry about me after school today! Just go out with Saiki to your heart's content! All I ask is that you keep me looped in on all the juicy details!"

Oh god...

I felt a little bit sick, flailing around under Koichi's arm.

~x~

A date with a yandere.

What a great idea.

It was after school and I was walking side by side with Saiki along the lively streets of Shibuya, a few stations away from the school.

I had tried to secretly sneak out of school when school had ended, but somehow Saiki found me hiding in the boy's toilets and here we were.

"So Saiki," I said, "What do you want to do?"

Let's just humour her for a bit and get the hell out of here before she did anything crazy again.

"U, um... let's do what you want to do, Naosuke!" Saiki said, smiling at me with pink cheeks, "I'm happy as long as I'm with you!"

"Huh, okay, how about a movie?" I said.

Movies sounded pretty normal for a date. And it also seemed like the easiest way to have two hours go past without giving her an opportunity to kill anyone.

"I'm okay with that!" Saiki nodded.

"What kind of movies do you like to watch?" I asked.

"Hmm..." Saiki said, thinking for a second, "I... I really like horror movies!"

On second thoughts...

"I think movies might not to be too fun," I quickly said with a laugh, "It will just be us sitting there for two hours! And we can't really talk to each other during that time."

"Oh, I guess you're right, Naosuke..."

"What about a cafe?" I suggested, "We can just sit down and grab a drink."

Saiki nodded enthusiastically, "Okay!"

We started walking to the street where all the cafes were.

Saiki was walking quietly next to me with a happy look on her face. Her long blonde hair bouncing behind her, and her scarlet eyes seeming to sparkle under the rays of the afternoon sunlight.

Man, when Saiki was quiet like this, she looked just like a normal girl, albeit an extremely pretty one.

I wished that she wasn't so crazy, otherwise she would really make the perfect girlfriend.

I decided to try talking to Saiki to get to know her a bit more.

"Saiki," I said, "Uh, is there a reason you like me so much? I mean, there's nothing really that special about me and yet, you said you liked me even before I confessed to you..."

"Hm, you don't remember, Naosuke?" Saiki asked, glancing at me.

"Remember what?"

Saiki stared at me, watching my expression for a moment, before smiling softly, "Ah, it's okay. I didn't expect to you remember anyways. It happened so long ago."

"Right..."

Now I wanted to know what it was that made Saiki go so crazily in love with me.

"But, I'm just super ultra happy to be with you now!" Saiki latched onto me with a blushing hug, "You're the only one I have eyes for, Naosuke! I think you're better than all the guys in the school combined, better than any guy in the whole world!"

"Haha, you're exaggerating..." I said.

For some reason, it kind of made me feel fluffy inside hearing that despite the fact that Saiki was utterly insane.

Maybe she wasn't so insane after all.

"Haaii hot stud~!" A high-pitched voice came from out of nowhere, stopping us dead in our tracks, "Wow, you're only in highschool but you've got such a dreamy face!"

I froze, slowly glancing in front of me at the girl dressed in a maid costume standing in front of me, smiling and holding flyers to a maid cafe.

"Would you please come visit our cafe?" She asked with a playful giggle, "We will even give you special treatment since you're such a cutie!"

It was quite obvious that this was just a sales tactic and that she said this to every guy that came across the street.

The problem was that I had an unstable yandere next to me.

Already, I could feel an insanely murderous aura coming from my side as though electricity was sparking off in the air.

A sweat rolled down my temple, and I glanced around me in horror to see that girls in maid costumes were standing sparsely spread out everywhere along the street.

I had unknowingly walked into a street filled with maid cafes akin to walking into a minefield.

"Special treatment, huh?" Saiki said, glancing up at the girl with an eerily bright smile, "Let's see how you give that special treatment... while you're in hell."

Saiki reached her hand behind her.

This was not good.
