Chapter 12 - Monster Subjugation

Chapter 12 - Monster Subjugation

The Dangle Forest is the farthest away from the city compared to the other forests. Unlike the Yula forest, which was 5 kilometers away, the Dangle forest is 60 kilometers away. Typically, it takes more than twelve hours to walk there with no stops. Of course, you can get there faster with a horse, but it stills takes hours to get there...

That said, I have adjusted my attributes, mainly speed, to 50% of my total power. I could have brought it to 25%, but it would have taken me 15 minutes to get there. I didn't know what 50% would be but guessing how much 0.1% to 25% was, I thought 50% could bring me there instantly or very fast. I was right...

After taking a running start, an explosion occurs under my feet. It's not as big as the explosion I had in my parent's house. Nevertheless, it's still an explosion, causing damage to the ground. Luckily, I was away from people, so I don't think anyone heard nor took any damage from it.

Anyway, I start bolting East, heading for the Dangle Forest. I stayed off the main path so that I wouldn't run over or hurt anyone who's traveling on it. That said, the trail only leads to the forest, so there shouldn't be anyone on it, but just in case, I stayed away from it. The cost of traveling on the grassland was non-existent as it took me only three minutes to travel there. If I had to guess, 50% of my speed attribute allows me to run at Mach one... I think that's a good speed for traveling if no one is nearby... Speaking about that, didn't that Guild Master say he was going to watch me? Were we supposed to travel together? Maybe he has some skill, or perhaps that guard who's at the forest will testify on my behalf. They better... If I get duped again, all hell will break loose!

I shake my head, ignoring these thoughts, and readjust my speed to 1% so that I can dodge all of the monsters with ease. After doing so, I get on the path and walk normally towards the entrance, where I see a short female standing there. I stand observing her as I approach...

She has short pink hair and matching eyes. She's wearing a pink cloak over a pink battle dress. That said, her cloak seems slightly longer than expected and touches the ground. Nevertheless, her attire is so pink that you can instantly tell what her favorite color is. I mean, who needs to be this pink!

I shake these thoughts away and finally appear in front of her. She gives a weird expression at first but then stares down at me as if I were trash.

"Hmm... I see. You're the brat who took a fight with the guild. The Guild Master just told me that you were coming, but I thought it would be tomorrow if you showed up at all. I guess he contacted me once you got close... Nevertheless, I highly suggest you quit and forfeit this quest. Someone as weak as yourself won't stand five seconds in here. He said to help you if you are about to die, but there's no guarantee that I can do it in time. Now..."

"I understand the risks, but I'm still going in."

She sighs.

"You are an idiot. Okay, go ahead. Go and be food for those damn monsters."

With that, I head inside the forest, which is covered in thousands of trees. By the way, the road takes you to the center of the woods. To the left and right of it, there are thousands of more trees. If you continue on the path and avoid the monsters, you'll reach the other side of the forest, leading to a merchant's town, the 2nd-largest town in this kingdom. Arna, the city I live in, is the third-largest in the kingdom, with the largest being the Royal City.

The grass within the forest is darker than usual, too and trees are long and thick. Unlike the forest where I met those elves, this forest's foliage is so dense that it blocks almost all sunlight. Thankfully, I have the Night Vision skill, which automatically activated once entering the dark forest.

Anyway, I continue down the path, preparing myself for a monster showdown. After walking deeper into the forest, I activate my scan skill.

"Scan - 20 kilometers!"

This forest is deep, so I give it 20 kilometers. Sadly, since I wasn't in the very middle of the forest, most of the scan reached behind me and out of the forest. Also, I couldn't penetrate the forest from either the right, forward, and left of me. Even so, my skill is detecting thousands and thousands of monsters running around inside the forest. They are all high-level and rank too. I can't detect anything lower than A-rank. The excess EXP could also influence these monsters so that they might be even more potent than their default rank like those Triwolves... Alright, let's do this!

I nod to myself and start running in the forest. I could kill the monsters; however, if I want to make use of that double reward, I either have to keep their bodies intact or not destroy the entire land and evaporate their crystal that'll drop. I didn't get the crystals from the Triwolves because I evaporated them along with the ground. So I have to make sure I don't do that here... That means I'm going to have to use magic. Sounds fun!

"Hehe... Okay, let's start."

After finishing my sentence, a group of monsters appears in my sights. There are fifty of them, and they are A-rank Orcs. Once they noticed me, they start running at me with large clubs in their hands. I continue to dodge all of their attacks while thinking about my own. Then, with something in mind, I hold out my hand while positioning myself in front of all of them. I smile as I shout out the spell.

"Wind Slash - Level 8!"

An enormous blade-like line of wind formed in front of my hand and then bolted towards the orcs, instantly cutting off all of their heads. The wind blade continues flying through the forest, cutting down any trees in its path. Eventually, after passing a kilometer, the wind grows weaker and stops in front of a tree, only cutting through it by a fourth or so. All of the trees that were cut off fall in unison down onto other trees. Due to the number of trees, only a few fallen trees hit the ground, making a loud thumb sound and shaking the ground slightly. Also, the thick foliage started shaking as this happened. The foliage weakened due to those fallen trees, letting sunlight shine through, though not much.

After all of this occurred, I move towards the orcs' bodies and put them all inside my storage skill. Once they were all collected, I use my scan skill to search for my next prey. I then start running in their direction and cast another wind slash, instantly cutting their heads off. I hurried and collected the bodies and moved on to the next group of monsters. I continued doing this for about ten minutes.

As I grew deeper into the forest, the number of monsters in groups grew. The last group I fought had three hundred orcs and other A-rank monsters; however, they all died instantly with the wind spell. That said, the wind used in that fight was weaker in the end and didn't cut down as many trees as the first use of the skill did. By now, I probably have caused a thousand or so trees to fall. I didn't feel bad, though, and continued on hunting.

That said, as I was using my scan skill to look for the next group of monsters, I start to notice that the number of A-rank monsters is decreasing. Although I could detect the non-A-rank monsters, there were deep in the forest, so I ignored them and hunted the A-rank monsters; however, most of the monsters that I can detect are S-rank and higher. They, too, are in large groups mixed with monsters similar to them. With all of the monsters that are being scanned, the total reaches more than ten thousand.

"Ugh, there must be a faster way! Flight!"

Getting tired of running everywhere, I activate my flight skill and begin flying towards the nearest group of monsters. During my flight, I began thinking if there were any way to kill all the monsters at once, but I couldn't think of anything. Then, right as I got to the next group, an idea hits me. I start laughing after the thought.

"Haha! Alright, this is going to be good..."

By the way, the group of monsters that I'm at is a group of 200 S-rank Blood Bears, which are monsters that look like bears but are more blood-thirsty than normal ones. Since none of them can reach me since I'm flying, they start shouting at me and climbing nearby trees. Even as they jump from the trees to try to get me, I dodge them all easily. While I do so, I start activating lots of skills.

"Perfect Wall! Damage Barrier! Water Barrier!"

The first three are skills to prevent my combat skill from spreading outside of the forest. It's also to make sure that the guard doesn't get caught with my skills. Also, at this point, I'm near the center of the forest, so I can detect the entire forest after increasing the range a bit higher. This allowed me to place a barrier and a wall all around the forest, about thirty meters in the air, which is shorter than the height of the trees. Then, I cast the following skills.

"Flood! Lighting Storm!"

First, I cast a spell that starts to flood the entire ground in water. At level 10, the skill activates fast, pouring gallons and gallons of water a second. In under a minute, the whole floor was flooded. I then activated another spell that started a lightning storm. Again, at level 10, lighten strikes almost every second, landing into the water, shocking everything inside with electricity. Finally, I left the water and the lightning storm spells on while laughing loudly.

The group of bears that were once here died almost instantly by either drowning themselves or being electrified by the combo. Some of them tried to climb the trees but were either not fast enough or were knocked off by a random lightning strike. In mere minutes, all of the monsters I detected earlier have died instantly. Level ten spells are no joke!

Satisfied, I move on to the next problem. Although the spells killed off most of the monsters, some remain. Apparently, some were able to avoid suffocating in the water while also resisting the electricity. After observing them longer, I understood that all of them but one was an SSS-rank monster, the highest rank of monsters that high-level adventurers can fight. The last monster, on the other hand, is a rank higher - EX-small... A rank that only the TEN can handle...

Its presence was the largest of them all. I knew about it halfway through this quest but avoided it so that I could eliminate all of the small fries. So now, with all of the most powerful monsters left, the real fight will begin.

"Drain!"

I activate another skill that drained all of the water and deactivated the lightning spell. I then ran everywhere and collected all of the dead bodies and crystals from the weak monsters. Afterward, I turn my attention to the large presence as it, along with the other monsters, was turning towards me.

On the ground, loud steps could be heard, causing the ground to shake heavily. In the distance, I can see large giants who are almost the same height as the trees. They knocked over all of the trees in their path and caused the ground to shake even more. More minor to them, white fur wolves with many tails start running at high speeds at me. In total, there are three wolves and five giants.

Then finally, flying in the air, an enormous black drain appeared and stared heavily at me. Then, with all of the powerful monsters coming to me, I can start the real massacre...
