Chapter 2: The Messenger

Chapter 2

The Messenger

The morning was brittle and cold, and well the fire Enqo was staring at was certainly warming her up. There was an unexcused chill of death, morning, and sadness That was keeping the air chilly and iced. The night before had been tragic. The loss of Gunja weighing down on her like a ball and chain, her soaked clothes weren't making it better just adding to the icy air, almost as if it was sharp, in and out she took in deep breaths and expressive exhales. She just wanted to escape this Life all of her family was dead. She shouldn’t go on, she brought the knife to her throat and then, almost out of nowhere, a willowy spirit stalked out of the forest. A Rahuta though not Gunja for this was not a ghost, It was a spirit transmission. “ Hello, child,” Said the Rahuta, the trailing wisp behind it like a scarf in the wind “ My name is Alho,”

Why are you here,” Enqo said, reaching for her bow, her hair flowing back in the wind.

“Child do not fire that bow,” Alho said, walking closer, “I seek Ornoughtis’s gem”

It seemed to think she had something that was not currently in her possession.

If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.

“What do you mean, Ornoughtis’s gem, I do not know of an Ornoughtis,” Enqo replied.

“You speak in lies human? Or do you simply not have the knowledge I seek,” Alho responded.

“I do not know what you seek, though I do have a gem” Enqo, she pulled a gem out of her pocket.

“ Liar! Foul human being, you do have Ornoughtis’s gem, that is why they attacked you” Alho snarled

Alho rushes at Enqo biting Enqos leg, blood rushed from the wound. She kicked at the creature, knocking the beast to the ground. As she tries to scramble away Alho pounces on her, slamming her into the dirt.

“You fool, you can’t defeat me!” Alho growled, clanging his teeth, bloody spit flying out of Rahutas mouth, so she had hurt it when she kicked it.

“I can’t but, I don’t have to!” She rolled out of the way as a giant bird picked him up, a pack of Januar, Giant birds of the sky, its massive shadow enveloping the clearing, as the morning shines through the trees. She looks through the forest and then breaks out into a sprint cutting through the forest. She sprints so fast that when she runs out of the forest it's straight off a cliff.

“Aaaaahhhhh!!” Enqo screams as she plummets to her death, certain this would be her demise. A large snapping sound wrings where she lands, a gruesome display, blood splattered everywhere, limbs gone flying, she was certain, no doubt about it, DEAD.
