Chapter 1: Gunja

Chapter 1: Gunja

Enqo walked silently through the forest with her Gunja trotting behind her, her footsteps as light as a feather. She heard a sound pulling out his bow steadily aiming it down wind. A deer was there, in a pretty little clearing that would soon be covered in blood. It seemed so rude to ruin a place like this but she was starving. She aimed the blow, firing it the arrow digging into the deer's hide, blood spilling out of the gushing wound like She thought it would. it hurt her to see the deer die as one should care for all living things however self preservation comes before that. Dragging the deer over her shoulder, she hiked back to her camp. It was small, consisting of a tent, campfire, and a pit for storage. She brought the deer over to the campfire and started skinning it, the process was long and grueling, however the meat was spectacular, and the deer meat already tasted the best.

Enqo and Gunja rode through the jungle, Gunja snatching up Junfe, they were not normal bugs, they were dragonflies the size of People though these were normal to Enqo. Their stings were deadly, enough poison in one drop to kill a hundred men; however Rahuta are the primary hunters of these carnivores. The Jungle was thick and dense, the vines gnarly and pricked, the moist air was suffocating every breath a cry for help, but she persisted on as the jungle seemed to start closing in on her, The jungle was crushing her as gunja ripped vines out of the way. The jungle air became thicker, her every inhale grasping and prying at what air was left, it was as if she was underwater, drowning in the ocean masquerading as air. Then it was over. They had broken into a beautiful clearing, the fake ocean subsided and it was normal air again. There was a large temple followed by more temples it was an ancient city there were monuments and trees that carried lush beautiful fruit, there were pods with fish swimming happily, Enqo sat down taking in the beauty the beautiful imbedded mosaics in the side of the temples depicting a flying serpent that was able to read minds and change time. This place had something odd about it though but there was a strong sense of safety so she stayed, she laid out a blanket under a tree and drifted off into the wonder void of dreams though this time around there was something lurking. Enqo had always had strange dreams everyone in the village called her the dream stealer because she was perfectly able to do that, she had been born with the power to steal dreams, she was born a Qeon with ap perfect goal set she was able to steal dreams so it was quite a shock when someone entered her’s.

“Hello” said the voice, Enqo looked twordes where it came from though there was no light in the void. “My here and I shall proclaim what I have to”

“Who are you” She said flailing around in the darkness, then she saw it , it was a large serpent with designs all down its body its wings were angelic and it had one big colorful eye, that eye seemed to be able to read her mind the feeling of intrusion creeping into her mind.

“I ask why you come here, to my home” It said, its eye changing color with every word.

“ I was leaving the Jungle and then I stumbled upon this place” Enqo said, time seemed to slow down, the sweat on her neck dripping down at the speed of molasses.

“I shall give you the benefit of the doubt but” It pauses for a second as if something is whispering into its nonexistent ear, “ YOU IMBECILE!! YOU THINK THAT YOU CAN COME INTO MY SACRED RESTING PLACE AND DESTROY IT!!!” It said, Enqo was blasted out of the dream waking up to a burning oasis, everything was on fire, but she didn’t do this? Why did the thing blame her? Enqo called for Gunja who was nowhere as far as the eye could see, then she heard a shrilling yelp through the crackling of the fire, she ran as fast as she could but she didn’t get there in time to save him! Gunja was in a fiery pit, it was too late the fire was all over him, Gunja her dads loyal Rahuta had died to a inferno of blaze, this was too soon, but there was nothing she could do, she just sat there and wept, well Gunja’s howling cry erupted through the night as the blaze engulfed him.
