Four hours passed, Lyner killed his way across Ottawa, Barrhaven and Manotick. A crimson aura filled with screams of despair shrouded Lyners body. The originally majestic and golden aura became steeped in the sin Lyner gathered from his killings.
Lyner very well may be the strongest individual on Earth, but at the end of the day he was still a human. His shirt had long since been shredded to pieces. Lyner was bare chested, and his body had dried blood, cuts, bullet holes and a diagonal cleave mark left from a battle axe across the right side of his chest, down to the left of his abdomen.
Having taken the lives of more than 17,500 in four short hours, Lyner racked up multiple wounds of varying degree. His breathing was short and ragged, Lyners body felt like a bunch of cement blocks were being dragged behind him.
Everytime the thought of giving up crossed his mind, Lyner kept seeing the image of Leonard slain by his own hand. The promise he made to keep the captains family safe was the constant fuel needed to keep trudging on. And with his quest [Blood Stained Human Realm] he had gained a kill count on it, but there was no progress bars to indicate how far he had left to go.
While he had lived a cruel and blood stained life the last 6 years, Lyner did play games like Dragon Quest, Maplestory, Secret Of The Solstice, Windslayer and the like. Lyner knew that quests were part of a system, but nothing indicated that he had such a "system" he had no skill, status, guild, inventory screens that is a part of a system. But the fact that he was given a quest, there was the smallest of chances. The more people he killed tonight and got his "Rebirth" quest reward. Maybe, just maybe he would gain a system of his own?
The sound of thundering feet on the ground pulled Lyner out of his distracting thoughts. Knowing they were within earshot now, Lyner called out loudly. "Good morning ladies and gentlemen, would you be so kind to let me light a cigarette before we start this dance?"
"BANG"
Lyner took a short step to the left, an armor piercing round dug into the ground Where his right foot was moments later. Having his hands cupped in front of the lighter, shielding the flame from the wind. Lyner puffed letting the spark start burning the tobacco in the cigarette.
"You're some rude assholes ain't ya?" Lyner scoffed in frustration, which further infuriated the other party.
"Fuck you!" Curses came from the crowd followed up with a few more armor piercing rounds, all of which Lyner avoided without much effort at all.
"Your aim is just about as good as an autistic pigeon trying to shit on cars in a parking lot!" Lyner hollered out with the smile creeping up on his lips, Lightshadow long drawn from its sheath. His other hand went up to his hand as he squeezed his nose through a small opening of his thumb and index fingers. "Y'all be a bunch of brown nosers, did you forget to clean your nose off?"
Lyner walked forward lazily, swinging his arm out with no posture cutting through the armor piercing rounds like a hot knife through butter. Doding a sucker punch to his throat, Lyner exhaled a cloud of smoke into the attackers face. His knee smashed into the mans groin as he chuckled like a mischievious kid. "Ring a ding ding your wife is going to be disappointed when you can't perform mate."
Lyners body vanished as after shadows followed him in pursuit. Punching all the attackers in the throat, winding them, or to knock them out. Lyner conserved his energy as he felt many significant energy spikes in the distance. Like a curious cat that found its long lost toy loaded to the brim with catnip, Lyner temporarily lost his interest in taking lives.
Thirty individuals lay knocked out cold on the ground. All except for the one who was holding his family jewels, lyner rung his bells and he felt both nauseous and light headed at the same time.
Having long disappeared to investigate the source of the energy spike, Lyner arrived 10 minutes later after avoiding all the groups, or individual power houses out on a manhunt for him. Standing ontop the crown of a tree, Lyners inner energy focused around his eyes as he looked at the scene below. To his surprise there were 15 of his squads members in combat with a small group of old men. His comrades were bloody and beaten, 3 of them showed no signs of life, 5 were heavily injured. And the strongest ones remained trying to buy time for those still alive to retreat.
Lyner disappeared from where he was on the trees crown, a loud boom sounded as Lyner appeared with a turbulent current of wind, Lyner slashed upwards with Lightshadow, reflecting the attack that would have beheaded his Lieutenant.
"Coraline, Ashton, Jackson take the bodies of the deceased and bury them properly. Randolph, Wolf, Powers you three take the lead to evacuate the injured. Leave these old bastards to me!"
Lyners aura blasted out pushing the group of old men backwards. The old men flexed their aura, a golden-crimson wall of energy pushed back a multi-colored wall of energy in the sky. Despite having 7 auras from half-step genetic breakers against his own, Lyner didn't even break a sweat.
"It seems the Underground head honchos are starting to get impatient, to allow you mad dogs out of your kennels."
Lyner took out Nightingale from its sheath as his steel blue eyes flashed with golden specs of energy.
"Don't be impudent you young dog. The Underworld hasn't pulled out any of its trump cards. There are genetic breakers on the way from overseas, and biologically mutated humans. You will not live past this night, Reaper!" The old man in the lead barked back defiantly.
"Ignite your cores! No matter what it takes, we have to exhaust Lyner!" The aura of the old men instantly exploded, no longer being pushed back by Lyners aura.
"Exhaust me? Please, your not even a warm-up for me!" Lyner flashed forward with Lightshadow raised into the air, Lyners muscles on his left arm expanded as he slashed down onto the leading old mans speartip. Cutting it off, Lyner jumped slightly and stomped down with his feet nailing the now steel pole into the ground. Combusting his inner energy on his back, Lyner shot forward up the steel pole, spinning as he accumulated momentum before cutting through the old mans aura curtain. His head flew up followed by a gout of blood shooting out.
Lyner withdrew Lightshadow and put it diagonally across his back and shoulders. A traumatizing blunt force hit Lightshadows blade, and a strange Tremor like energy entered his hand through the blade. Lyners sword wielding arm went numb as the Tremor force racked havoc across his inner organs. Lyner dashed backwards, the arrogance and contempt for his enemies gone. The Ulna in his forearm snapped and was piercing through the flesh on his arm, it hung limply to his side and even his high regenerative ability was being suppressed by the Tremor force.

"You can be cocky all you want for being the first genetic breaker in human history. But you are not unparalleled on this earth Lyner. Some of us old men have lived our whole lives fighting to the death on the battlefield!" The remaining 6 old men circled around Lyner cutting off any hope for escape.
The aura of the five weaker individuals were transferred onto the old man man with Tremor force. His aura skyrocketed drastically, but Lyner noticed the old mans flesh start flaking off and blood flowing out of his nose, eyes, ears and mouth. The other 5 old men collapsed to the ground dead.
"My brothers sacrificed their lives to give me this power. Even though I will die in less than 15 seconds, I want to see the limits of your power Reaper!" The old man shouted and the ground beneath his feet exploded, leaving a 10 meter deep crater in the earth.
Hurriedly unsheathing Nightingale, Lyner barely had the time to stab his blade into the old mans charging body. The old man vanished as two fists smashed into the temples on both sides of Lyners head. Lyner felt his entire body go limp, the old man cupped his hands Into a hammer and smashed down onto Lyners hand. The ground beneath Lyner caved in as his body was nailed into it. A chaotic ball of inner energy with a diameter of 7 meters crashed into Lyner.
"RUMBLE!"
The sound of thunder rang out as an explosive wave of energy swept across Manotick, and into Barrhaven like a beacon for the hatchetmen of the Underground world.
Lyners body was mangled and he lay in a puddle of his own blood, his body smoked and his skin was burnt to a crisp. A old hand pulled Lyner up by his foot, before swinging him back and forth slamming him into the ground. The old man threw Lyner and with the last remnants of his strength, he flashed forward imbuing his fist with all his remaining energy.
Lyners open palm stopped the fist before it closed crushing the old mans fist. A scream of agony sounded out, then it abruptly ended as that same fist pierced through the old mans chest, ripping his heart out. Crushing the heart with his good remaining arm, Lyners external energy turned into ink black flames devouring the old mens bodies within.
Lyner walked away as that devilish grin resurfaced on his face. His eyes split with two eyes appearing in both of its sockets. Lyners thumb pierced through his heart, and he heard the pained howl of an abyssal being in his head.
"You dare to injure this body with unlimited potential for growth?! I will consume your soul, strip the flesh off your body, rip the muscles and tendons off of your bones inch by inch. You will wish for death when I get my hands on you!"
Lyners thumb twisted 360 degrees as both his arms made numerous hand symbols, slapping his palms together with a hummed "Amitabha." Lyners split eyes returned to normal as he coughed out an excessive amount of blood.
"Captain! Are you okay?!"
Lyner who had just barely brought himself back from possession screamed out. "Stay the fuck away from me I am unstable right now!"
Demonic wings spread out from Lyners back, horns grew out from his head, and purple black scales grew on his body. That single moment of lapse in his concentration allowed that asshole residing in his soul realm, to morph his body.
The majestic golden energy shrouded Lyners body like a flame, and it did truly burn Lyner, it boiled the blood inside his body and steam evaporated off his body. Murky purple sludge was discharged from all the pores of his body.
After 15 minutes Lyners body gradually returned to normal. Lyners heart thundered heavily, every breath he took felt like he was being cut across his whole body 10,000 times.
Exhausted, Lyner laid in sludge and his own blood, the scent was foul and could burn your nose, make your eyes water just by being near it. Lyner was unconscious in his own filth, Sanskrit covered his body wrapping around him binding his body entirely so he could not move.
The members of his squad knew their new captain had certain... tendencies and lost control in combat. But they had never known there captain fought back against possession, or that they would one day see Lyner so weak and vulnerable. Not knowing what to do, they hesitated.
"Amitabha children. The holy and unholy are thick in this area. Is your friend the source of the corruption I felt?" A voice sounded from behind Lyners comrades.
With weapons drawn they circled around Lyner, leaving only a 2 inch gap between each other as they protected their captain.
"There is no need for weapons, children. I do not wish to harm the young man behind you. Although his aura is tainted, he has the aura from our most treasured scripture."
"What can you do to prove you won't harm our captain?!" Wolf asked nervously, but refused to drop his guard to this mysterious man.
"It's okay to have your doubts children. I only wish to heal the young man behind you. I do not wish to see a child with our holy scripture become a container for the Demon inside him. Now please, children, let me save this young mans life."
Wolf gritted his teeth before giving in and stepping to the side. "Every single movement you make will be under our strict watch. If you do anything other then what you say, you will die even if we have to sacrifice ourselves to avenge our captain!" Wolf barked ruthlessly as he locked eyes with the monk.
The monk smiled and nodded his head "Thank you, children. This young mans life is invaluable." The monk walked towards the unconscious Lyner. The Sanskrit symbols on Lyners body sunk into him. The injuries across his body healed with a speed visible to the eye. The demonic shroud around Lyner receded, and a terrifyingly powerful purifying beam covered Lyner in a cocoon.
"Do not let him be disturbed for 10 minutes. He will be fully healed and back to 'normal' when he awakes later. Give him these lozenges when he wakes, and make sure he eats a lot to recuperate his energy." The monk said before vanishing.
Wolf looked at his fellow squad members. "Lets get the captain back to the hideout. The others and his little sister will be relieved to see Lyner is safe."
Wolf picked lyner up and threw him over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes.
"Let's scatter before more trouble arrives. None of us are in a state where we can fight." Wolf spoke as he and the others collected Lyners heirloom swords before disappearing."
Minutes later a group of genetic breakers arrived, looking at the scene of the battle between Lyner and the deceased sect masters. The genetic breakers couldn't stop the excitement they felt from rising.
"What a monster the Reaper is, when these sect masters activate the Armament Array, they are undefeated amongst early stage genetic breakers." An excited female voice sounded out.
"The aura of corruption is rife in the area. It is long said that the Reaper is a vessel for one of the devil lords to descend onto Earth. It would appear that we won't be a match for Reaper until the Inheritance holders arrive." A gruff mans voice sounded out.
"Don't be such a pussy! And drop it with calling him Reaper this, and Reaper that. Lyner Lazarus is still a human at the end of the day. It doesn't matter if he was first to become a genetic breaker or not. All that matters is the bounty on his head! If we can cash that in, we'll be able to buy tickets off of Earth before the apocalypse happens." A mature and sultry female voice sounded out.
"Besides before we claim his life, I'd love to get a taste of Lyners blood. I can feel it, my bloodline will go through evolution by consuming his fresh blood." The woman revealed a smile with fangs, as she licked her lips hungrily looking at the dried blood stains on the ground.
