Chapter 2 - The Prologue (2)

Regression is a curse in itself, the endless loop to change the outcome. A form of torture to see your loved ones perish, but a chance to save what was lost. A novel I had read was a similar case, yet, I never had gotten to 'see' its epilogue. He the protagonist who was keen on retaining what was astray, overcoming the brutal hardships that stood in his way, he had never given up. Even if the world was perishing within his very eyes, he wouldn't hesitate to sacrifice himself for the people he loved dearly.

He'll save everyone he promised, the promise kept was regrettably broken and so was the protagonist. How he longed for a shooting star to grant his wish, however reality had struck in, living just takes as much courage.

The protagonist inspired me to become a greater version of myself, but if he was to fall down within insanity of not protecting his loved ones, I wonder if the outcome is the same of me. Of course, I don't have a story to tell yet, maybe the story will write itself one day, whether I will fall insane or save what was lost.

If Yuta is what's lost, then who will save him? He irritably questioned himself at the very moment his mind went aloof, day dreaming fiction over reality. Or whether, they can become one.

He rose menacingly from the grisly ground covered in his own 'expired' flesh, Yuta's eyes showed no humanity left in them if anything a monster that exists to wreck havoc. No rational thought, but with a moral bringing of not just 'saving' himself, but the very person who saved him.

I should've been dead already, but it seems my body is refusing to do so.

Yuta's visual perception was significantly superior compared to before, he could view what was behind him via visible wavelengths. His agility simply just didn't increase his overall speed rather the world around him felt slower and more compatible. However, due to Yuta's poor physique he isn't agile enough to get the most optimum reaction required to avoid an oncoming blow from the ghouls.

I can see everything. There's not a single thing I cannot see!

A fairly larger ghoul pounced Yuta from the ceiling crashing into ground, shattering his bones into fragments. Surprisingly though, the pain was suppressed by his body being directly able to cut down electrical impulses, thus not receiving pain.

It was truly a cheat ability to grasp onto, it is as though Yuta's an undead.

The number of ghouls kept increasing in number, the showdown was clearly one-sided. One man versus an army. The tension swept up in Yuta caused him to build an abnormal result, his physical attributes only kept rising and rising.

He mentally prepared himself for each and one of their attacks, striking when needed to. Onto the short distances was a long metal rod resting on the ground with a sharp edge. Yuta dashes towards the rod, clenching it tightly with both his hands.

> "This may end up really badly, this is all I got...! It seems all rusted and fragile, the chance of it breaking within a couple of blows is quite high. I need to deviate and hit with a low blunt force! Easier as it sounds, my strength has increased slightly, but just adjusting to the increase feels like a challenge already. "

While the rod seemed to be working out effectively, the problem lied the number of ghouls that kept appearing. They were never-ending.

Thud!

Taken by surprise, Yuta's body quivered for a fraction of a second. It was no ordinary noise, rather one that sounded overwhelmingly powerful.

What was that?!

Yuta took a sneak peek behind his eye, a large figure stood in complete silence, tall enough to at least pound an army tank to shreds. He did not dare to aggravate the ghoul as he's aware even the slightest mistake could cost him something big, perhaps this time his life. What creeped Yuta out most was the length of the ghouls neck, it clearly stood out most amongst the crowd. Its arms were near 175 cm long in length, comparatively smilier to the average human being's height.

> "That thing is abnormally tall!! It's staring at me with fiercest glare, as if it's trying to corner me into a state of complete fear. What do I do?!"

Abruptly, a loud pop up noise rang in Yuta's head, words were structured within his eyes that radiated a blood-red glow.

[Long-crooked Ghoul]

> "H-huh?? where did these words pop out from, is that the name of the creature?"

Yuta being out in a daze only triggered the crooked-ghoul, its extremely long legs covered around 15 metres in a single step, practically leaping its way through the crowd of inferior ghouls.

Swoosh!

In a split second, Yuta was caught completely off guard and it unfolded in front of his very eyes, raising its right arm for a soon to be heavy blow to the head. Yuta tucked his body to a small degree and covered his head with the metal rod he clenched on real tight.

Fuck that's gonna be painf-!

Boom!!

Yuta's body flew across the distance with a shattered body, right into a building almost collapsing to the ground.

He had perished yet once again, his fingers were just dangling of its roots. But each time he had died a painless death, his humanity only kept getting lost . Quite frankly, he resembled a monster in every aspect of the way, he no longer was human. Gritty and unusual teeth; fingers twice as long with the nails as dark as night; a horn on the side of his forehead, a disgustingly powerful goblin.

Yuta’s aura was rather deceiving, almost like a mountain of pressure placed on an individual. A prestige yet perplexing strength. Everything he had done was within his limit of subconscious, unable to control his very own body. His strenght was unrivaled, a dark aura surrounded his fists each time he clenched tightly. His arm was a dagger itself, cutting thorugh the flesh of ghouls like butter, even damaging the crooked ghoul with ease.

Dashing on forwards facing off countless foes that were just born anew, bleeding till deaths door, the days went by within minutes by minutes. A mediocre skirmish that felt like forever was passing on and on till the fact months went by with a struggle of ghouls. Yuta's consciousness deteriorated to a point he was no longer 'alive', with his body under the control of the power in him. The world was still under shambles, the ghouls evolved to a much higher species to inveitabley give them a god to praise to.

Clank!

Haha haah haah...

And just like it had been 2 years that flew by, the world had gone into deep silence with no ghouls freely lurking around. Nature had found its way back from the dead, but at a cost of them not being 'true'.

Yuta's battle of a lifetime had just taken a halt, there were no more ghouls to kill.

"Is it over? Raven?"

Raven. A ghoul that didn't seem to fit in the normal category like the others. It's size is chibi compared to an average ghoul, but witholds intellectual suprioroity. It can talk, breathe, control, stratergize, read, these components are what made this ghoul way dofferent. As though it was one of a kind.

> It seems so. I don't happen to see any ghoul nearby, rather anywhere. Not a single one lurks by, they must hiding amongst themselves somewhere knowing there are more powerful beings active in this time.

"I see. How many days have passed by Raven... whilst my body wasnt within control I lost count, do you have any idea?"

> While I may not have the exact count but it has definitly been more than 2 years, I was under contract with you for around 728 days or more.

"What?" Yuta froze.

He looked up on towards the orange-blue sky, dazzing upon the sun soon to rise up. Yuta took a silent breath in, assuring himslef that it isnt as bad as it seems. After all, the world is much peaceful than before.

"So 2 years huh... this is interesting. That means the world must be different from what it used to be, I have probably missed out on a lot of things."

Raven smirked in ease alng that statement.

> Yes, you are right on the dot. However, you must not realize that you have changed as well. You seem more adjusted to power, rather your not the shabby boy you once were.

"Enough flalttering me, maybe its time I head on. I've been stuck in this place for so long!"

Yuta stood up exhaling his worries in silence.
