Ch 7: Acquiring the Sharingan

IImar was unsure how he was doing as the god remained silent and his expression only twitched at the death of Itachi, Pain attacking the Leaf, and a few other points up to the end of the story with the reveal of Kaguya and the chakra fruit.

[...]

IImar heard silence then a thunderous laughter that almost knocked him unconscious.

[Oh wait, I forgot I can't laugh so hard or you'll fall unconscious or worse, die.]

[Astonishing, a truly astonishing story, how did one think of it?]

[I wondered why your soul was tainted with death yet you still live, the wisps of time and space as well. That explains it. Another world I see.]

The god echoed and muttered to himself for a while visibly pleased.

[It's been centuries since someone met all the requirements and satisfied me to such an extent, even the girl before missed out on one aspect.]

‘The girl? Could he mean the Saintess of Love?’

The tiny pot-bellied child figure nodded to himself.

He looked up above in displeasure before continuing.

[Well duty calls, if I didn't have my duties today from the Sacred Pledge of the Gods I'd love to hear more stories from another world but alas there are many to come and I must give them my eyes and ears.]

[Sharingan. That's what you want, isn't it? Such an interesting ability. But since that clan doesn't exist here nor does the original fruit exist an exact replica can't be given]

Seeing the nervous IImar the god laughed once more, almost knocking him out for good.

[Never fear, for such a wonderful story I will do my best to accommodate. The exact ability with chakra is impossible but one with mystic energy is possible. It's just the adjustment that needs to be done. There's also the process of evolution, you don't want to wait to dig out your children's eyes do you?]

[Based on the rules, even if I want to, I can't stretch them by myself giving you all the power they wield. We Seven are only agents of the Ancient Will in the end and manipulating or controlling it is beyond our abilities even Thalia is the same. Fortunately, you are stained with the power of Life and Death having been reborn in that body defying its natural death, there's also Time and Space and the Irregular fate from your soul traversing worlds and planar realms.]

[Thanks to this I won't have to give you just the crippled version with just the Sharingan and Mangekyo.]

–‘Wait does that mean!’ IImar thought excitedly.

[I look forward to seeing your Epic unfold before my eyes child. Continue to amuse me as you blaze a trail through this corrupted world.]

[The abilities that your eyes end up awakening, I will not interfere nor can I. I look forward to the day they are born!]

IImar felt his mind go blank and he fell unconscious.

Only the God remained.

[Hahahahaha-]

[How unexpected something like this could happen. Is this what she meant back then? The others thought it might have been that child this time within the current century but he's the same as the previous sages. His fate may stop there as well.]

[But this one is different, a soul from another world, an epic never before told!]

[It has the makings of the final chapter.]

[Will he be the one to end it all? If he manages to awaken the final form of that eye of his then his power will rival even ours in our prime, maybe even stronger.]

[I can't wait to see what fate has in store.]

Aurudamir pondered informing the other Gods but decided against it. He'd like to see what they looked like when that child began to mature.

Would they be surprised?

The Reign of the Great Evil had already begun to show signs of faltering.

Now with so many worthy apostles appearing this humanity could be the one to defy fate and defeat the Great Evil once and for all. This century had so many heroes it had successfully surpassed all before it, they had seen it as a sign of coming change.

It was too soon to tell however they had come close and failed many times over the years.

Unfortunately, he didn't expect that his plans couldn't keep up with the changes and he had to come clean beforehand.

[What has happened, did an Evil God come into being without our knowledge? Why has the Ancient Will suddenly weakened to such a serious extent?]

[Indeed this is troubling. For it to cause the Ancient Will to take action the situation must be quite dire.]

[Even so, the current Ancient Will would only have been able to suppress or seal it temporarily eventually whatever it is will come loose.]

Seven figures cloaked in divine lights murmured among themselves sensing a change in the Ancient Will that they guarded.

[What should we do? We can't ignore this. They will have noticed as well.]

[Do you think they have recovered enough to force in a second Evil God? Getting the first one here would have taken a toll on them.]

[That's if it is an Evil God if that's not the case then in addition to whatever it is we have them to worry about.]

Aurudamir felt a bit hairy sensing the situation. It was clear who was the culprit for the change in the Ancient Will.

It was him.

–'...Still for the Ancient Will to be weakened this much from granting him that ability. Did I underestimate its potential?'

It was no exaggeration to say Aurudamir was fully responsible for the weakening of the Ancient Will. Considering the powers and effects of the Ancient Will it was a change that would cause ripples in the entire world and the current confrontation between them and the Great Evil. The powers of the Ancient Will were far more than just awakening abilities even then it typically did not have a direct role and was more of a minor auxiliary help.

The direct action of the Ancient Will in awakening human beings was something only Aurudamir was capable of doing on his authority of God of Epics. None of the other Gods were capable of such a feat therefore it wasn't an exaggeration to say the blame was 100% on him even if it was an accident and he didn't predict the toll it would ake on the Ancient Will to grant such an ability.

Aurudamir didn't have the authority to make such a decision by himself concerning the Ancient Will and it needed a unanimous decision from all of the Seven for what was at stake was truly to significant.

Now that the Ancient Will had weakened so would their powers and as discussed by his peers their enemies would have noticed the change as well.

–'How troublesome. It seems you and I have caused a quite a bit of trouble my child.'

Aurudamir didn't regret his actions he would have done the same if he had known what would happen perhaps he would only have pondered a bit more.

But it was necessary, humanity and the entire world needed a figure to lead them against the strongest of the Great Evil otherwise they would never succeed.

They needed a true symbol of hope.

Nevertheless, Aurudamir recognized the weight of the 'sin' he had inadvertently created.

Many would die and a lot more would suffer.

Listening to the conversation between the gods intensify Aurudamir stepped in and revealed the truth.

IImar didn't know the substantial amount of trouble he had caused, he only dreamt of a golden giant wielding a great scimitar separating souls according to a giant wheel. When he regained consciousness it was only for a brief moment before drowsiness consumed him.

“He fell unconscious? That's rare. It must be a pretty powerful ability.”

“Not necessarily he could also have a weak constitution or some internal sickness. Awakening might have agitated it. You know we only offer two chances for free medical care after they awaken so any condition he has wouldn't have been registered or cured.”

The narrative has been taken without permission. Report any sightings.

“Well, whatever the case at the very least he must have awakened to react like this.”

“It would be interesting if there really was a second Unyielding Flame talent. With the Five Sparks and the other Embers, this batch would be second only to that year.”

“Indeed-”

IImar felt his consciousness blur a few times after he blacked out, he vaguely recalled hearing voices but he immediately fell unconscious afterwards.

If IImar had known about the uproar the awakening of the Sharingan had caused he would have inwardly rejoiced that he had selected the Sharingan in the end and not any of the other powerful abilities he had in mind. As a well-read fiction reader in the 21st century whose childhood and teenager years were that of a die hard tv and anime fan his knowledge reserves were quite deep, especially in his later years before work-life consumed him he had progressed to manga, novels, comics, books, and tv series having a bit of everything.

He chose the Sharingan in the end because its story met the requirements of the God of Epics to the greatest extent.

Furthermore as an inactive fan since several years ago and semi-active fan for several months, there was not a lot he could remember concerning the details of each epic tale.

He only remembered the Sharingan as he was there each week for the release of the original and did several rewatches of both the original and sequel intermittently in the years after the series ended. His distaste for the fans of the ugly aborted child that unfortunately saw the air of the outside world as a spin-off or sequel whatever the abomination called itself also helped his memory and appreciation of the original.

IImar had hardly had time to rewatch anime or watch new one sin recent memory being consumed by work and then drawn by his friends to travel, play sports and play video games so his favorite idle weekend hobby was gone and he didn't remeber a lot from what he had seen.

He chose the Sharingan in the end not only because it best met the requirements for the ritual and he remembered the tale in its entirety but also due to its power and versatility which would come in handy in a world filled with danger at every corner in comparison to the other abilities.

The risk of being unsuccessful while choosing another more powerful ability was also very significant as he not only remembered only fragments sand would have to make up the gaps but also the other abilities and their respective tales did not match the ritual requirements as much as the Sharingan, in fact, the gap between it and second place was quite significant.

IImar groggily opened his eyes to a green ceiling.

The scent of metal and sanitization products with a whiff of medicine greeted his nostrils.

He was all too familiar with this room. He had seen it in his predecessor's memories quite often.

“You're awake. How do you feel?” A sultry voice called out with the sound of the wind blowing the curtains.

IImar lifted his torso from the bed and massaged his temples.

–‘What was I-?’

–‘Wait, I successfully awakened!’

Memories of what happened before he blacked out began to come back to him.

–..I won't have to give you just the crippled version..

Does that mean?!

IImar immediately jumped up from the bed like he was given an electric shock and turned to the woman beside him dressed in a white lab coat.

“Quick your makeup mirror I need to see something!”

“??” The school Doctor Elaine tilted her head in puzzlement, her blonde hair strands fell into her face and she brushed them away.

Hearing the continued urgings she gave him her mirror from her desk.

“What's got you so worked up? Did you awaken a good talent or something?”

IImar quickly looked into the mirror to see a gaunt handsome face with dry skin but he ignored it and focused on his two pairs of ink black pupils.

‘Not there? Wait..’

IImar focused on his eyes and tried to activate them to no avail. Only when he finally thought to direct the mystical energy from his mystic core to his eyes did he succeed.

He watches his eyes turn blood red with just a single teardrop of black.

“It's really there…”

He excitedly celebrated.

“What's there? What's with your eyes?”

Doctor Elaine asked in puzzlement before seeing his blood-red pupils.

–‘A pupil ability? It doesn't seem to match any of the recorded ones. Red? It's not the Bright Spark Eye of Weakness. Nor the Philosopher’s Magic Eye of the Unyielding Flame… is it just a manifestation of another ability?’

Doctor Elaine was puzzled by the change in her lunchtime companion but was suddenly hugged in excitement.

“It's here it's here. It's actually there!” IImar excitedly continued almost out of breath.

“Alright Alright, I know you're happy but you can't just hug your teacher like that, understood?.”

Doctor Elaine was slightly surprised at being randomly assaulted but it was her fault for letting her guard down. She quickly smacked his hands away and gave him a warning.

Her words fell on deaf ears however, IImar was too excited to pay her any attention.

“The Sharingan! Based on what he said, even the Rinnegan can be unlocked! I've made it!”

Only IImar knew just how overpowered this ability was. Even some of the really outrageous talents in the Book of Talents paled in comparison to what the Sharingan was capable of.

–‘Sharingan?’

“Okay, that’s enough. Your injuries are almost completely healed after you obtained your mystic core still you had a risk of infection by not coming here while they were fresh. Those would be noble brats love to only take after the bad habits of the nobles and mimic all kinds of debauchery. There's no telling where that kid and his follower's grubby paws have been. Didn’t I tell you to come whenever you get beaten? Hmm?” Smacked with a paper fan and being pulled by the ear IImar was brought back to reality.

He looked at his abuser and was taken aback, although this was the 5th time they had met he was still shocked by her beauty each time. Nicknamed Goddess El by students and a title even acquiesced to by teachers and parents, Elaine Riverra was nothing short of a femme fatale amongst femme fatales.

Just one look could have her image etched into your mind forever giving you the sweetest of dreams.

Her red lips and peach complexion with her wonderful curves were a packaged deal and she was not just pretty in the face.

Hailed as the second coming of the Goddess of Beauty.

“Well, that brat should stop bullying now that you have awakened. Pity, you don’t have a combat ability or you could beat him up to pay back these two years of pain but alas it seems unlikely now. I heard he successfully awakened as one of the Bright Spark talents of this batch things might be a bit difficult but at least you can start fighting back now.” Elaine sighed looking at IImar’s fading bruises. Such a pitiful child yet there was only so much she could do for him otherwise helping too much would have him suffer from some of her narrow-minded admirer fleas.

He was bullied so often before but now it might continue since his enemy had risen higher.

“Should you be taking sides so clearly doc?” IImar smiled with a delayed reaction from being dazzled by her beauty and figure and smacked again with a light curse.

“Well of course I will favour my cute lunch companion who comes here every day. He even has gained storytelling skills to enrapture my heart. Now that you’ve awakened the girls will flock to you even more since you have both looks and ability now. Should I pick out a good one for you? That Rayniss girl seems cold but I know her type if you put in some effort you can do it. There’s also that Raquel from the third years she’s pretty good too.”

IImar wrly smiled seeing this first crush of his predecessor attempting to pick out a good match for him. He had to say he agreed with this taste of course who wouldn’t fall for such a beauty but alas it was impossible for him.

She was the first crush of many men.

Her line of suitors was far more capable than he and could from several batches of awakening students just in the Middle District alone.

IImar caught a glimpse of a silhouette from the corner of his eyes.

Goddess Elaine was very well endowed as well and those two known as the 'Twin Dreams of Men' were the culprits who caused him to be smacked again from being in a daze and staring rudely having so much to look at apart from her beauty.

If he hadn't been her lunchtime companion and semi-teacher's pet then he would not have escaped the fate of being banned from the medical room like so many had been and forced to take treatment from a creepy mystical plant. IImar felt shivers traveling down his spine just thinking of it. Fortunately, he had inherited a good relationship.

There was this goddess with the body of a demoness and the personality of a saint then there was the other one with the heart of a dog and the face of one.

Thinking of this IImar’s complexion turned. The other woman he did not claim or approve of.

…[We’re not suitable, I’m sorry but take a look in the mirror are you worthy? I tolerated you for a while since you were an obedient and good-looking dog but its gotten old, scram!]

How was he blind enough to be smitten with that chick? She was just middle tier among the beauties in the Institute yet he loved her so much despite only getting a few words and glances from her that the devastation from being rejected caused him to unalive himself.

Absolutely ridiculous.

Life was such precious, and youth was so priceless, how could he give it all away in an instant after hours of mopping because of just one girl he was never even in a relationship with?

The lengths he would go to for her were far and wide and the atrocities he had done for her were harrowing. He had even licked her boots, not once but thrice!

IImar felt he could never live down the embarrassment if that piece of black history came to light.

What a disgusting licking dog he was!

He took his role as a dog licker too seriously.

If it was the goddess beside him he'd understand but her?

IImar thought in contempt, but he had not yet fully explored the abilities of the Sharingan.

Fortunately his several rewatches out of nostalgia due to his age and social media ensured he never forgot about this fantastical tale despite its flaws.

Otherwise, he would have never obtained such an ability.

His distaste for the fans of its ugly aborted child that ended up being born also helped his memory and appreciation for the original. How they chose that over the original was beyond him.

Now he had the real Sharingan!

And now he had returned to his youth! He no longer needed to lament being ‘old’ although even he and science-backed 30 being young, society sure didn’t think so. The kids on the street had started calling him sir for almost 8 years.

The same person who rewatched anime on the weekends when he was bored and had time to spare.

But now he was their age and had an actual Sharingan!

Who was laughing now?!

Little James'es and Josh'es spelled backwards!

IImar thought to himself very pleased.

He quickly focused on his eyes and looked at the closest target to experiment with his newly gained ability.

—‘My eyes have burning for a while now but I guess it's just a side effect of the first use.’

IImar looked at Goddess El for a second and was truly almost directly blinded this time and quickly closed his eyes from the pain as a reflex, blood dripping from the corner of his eyes.

—‘What the, What the hell was that!’

IImar thought in horror.

“Hm?”

—‘Did he just?’

Elaine felt a gaze peer inside her and immediately knew who the culprit was and turned to see him grimacing with blood coming from his eyes.
