Chapter 1- Awakening

A gleam of light passed through the corner of my window as the sun's rays began to refract across the sky. If you looked out the window you would find yourself looking at a skyscraper. Based on the angle you could tell my room was located on a high position, most likely another tall building, possibly the twenty-second story of a forty story building.

The spacious room featured a gray bed with a dark wooden drawer by it's side; a sketch book laid atop spread opened revealing countless unintelligible scribbles, on the walls, several posters were attached to the wall featuring video game characters; it was indeed the room of an average no-life gamer.

The dim light slowly changed angle as the morning progressed, revealing my sleeping body; a guy with dark black hair possibly only twenty years of age. His face looked dull with a standard sized nose and mouth. His eyes were duly positioned on his face, only making him look more boring. However he did not give a feeling of perfection, but instead of a carefree guy who goes along with his surroundings; the ultimate example of a background character.

As I woke up an extreme pain and feeling of hunger assaulted me, yet I reacted slowly as if unable to process the sensations. I slowly got up my bed and very slowly as if deprived of all energy walked to the bathroom, I turned on the radio, which laid upon a stack of towels beside the bathtub, and turned on the shower to take my usual hot morning bath.

-Radio:"this is an emergency announcement to all residents and visitors of Residence City,  do not try to vacate the city. Residence City now within quarantine, do not panic and cooperate and this affair will be finished soon. This is not a Test.” --- “for further Informations call…”

I showered half paying attention to the radio. I was slightly dazed, the radio warning repeated three more times before it caught my attention, but all that was in my mind was an overwhelming sensation of hunger, as well as a feeling of absolute apathy. Slightly confused by the warning, I pondered about it as I dried my steaming skin with a bath towel, slightly tilting the radio on top of it.

Slowly approaching the mirror to wash my teeth, after putting on a new set of clothing, I was puzzled as I barely felt the sensation of satisfaction normally achieved after putting on cold clothing over my heated skin, I brushed my teeth and spat out the water when i looked up to my mirror.

  My toothbrush dropped...

Bloodied red eyes and ashen skin reflected upon my pupils. It was a very drastic change to my usual appearance, my new appearance was.. Menacing, am I sick? Does this has anything to do with the quarantine?

I slowly walked to my room and moved the thin curtain from my window. Smoke billowed out from various buildings in the distance. The corner of the block where my building was located was slightly illuminated by the rays of the rising sun. There was minimal traffic on the road, which made sense considering it was 5:30 A.M. on a Saturday morning. However as I was looking down, a taxi slammed into another car, creating a small collision. The angry driver exited his car, raising his arm in complaint, and walked up to the taxi and pulled the door open. A second after opening the door to the taxi, the man inside jumped at the driver like a wild animal, and pushed him down. He then proceeded to bite the unfortunate drivers neck and eat the torn piece of flesh. the man seemed to enjoy savoring the flesh, as the driver's neck spurted out a large amount of blood.

‘What the Hell!’ was the thought that crawled into my mind.

The Apocalypse had begun.
