Chapter 03 - Roadtrip to School

Year 993

I am five years old and next month I will be six. Then my family will send my into a Academy to study Magic and Swordsmanship.

For this my parents asked the current king of Perigontia for financial support, because they want to send me into the Academy of Magic and Swordsmanship of Gideas. The king John Perigontia then wanted to see me.

Obviously we went into the capital to see the king. John then looked at me and wanted to know whether the content of the letter is true. I told him that I am currently at the first bottleneck for Warriors and in about 3 more month I should reach the bottleneck for Magic. And that because I want to become a Dual I need to visit the best Academy.

Luckily he understood my ambition and allowed me to visit the Academy of Magic and Swordsmanship of Gideas. That means next month the day after my birthday I will start traveling into the country Kaiser.

The last month of living with my father and my mother passed rather fast and tomorrow is my birthday.

I wake up with a kiss to the forehead, there I see my mother. She smiled and says [ come into the dining room we prepared something for you]. I nod and my mother walks out of the room, now I am alone again.

I take my clothes which my mother prepared for me and dress up.

What do they have prepared? I hope they give me something I am allowed to use in the Academy.

The dining room looks like always some plants in the corner 4 chairs and a table. But on this table are now some gifts. Wow they actually bought me gifts.

Because I can't wait till they tell me I should open them I rush to them and pick one of the three gifts. Well it looks like a sword, maybe inside this package is a sword?

Who would've thought that inside a package with the form of a sword is a .....sword. It actually is a wooden sword but with strange runes on it. I turn to look at my parents and they grin.

Why do I feel like they will kill me???

[Want to know what these runes do?] I nod and my father says [ take this sword go into stance and then infuse the sword with your mana]

I do like I was told and take my stance. Infuse the Sword with mana..... and I can't hold the sword anymore it is now way too heavy. But I don't want to turn around....because just now my parents started to laugh.

I stop infusing the sword with mana and it gets light again. I think i understand know how this thing works. By infusing this sword with mana you can decide how heavy the sword should be.

The sword is thrown away because the other gifts are more important. One package is rather small and thin and the other big and big.

Seriously I take the big package, because everybody takes the biggest gift after taking the weapon. No? Well I do so.

Inside this Big package is a bag pack. Really a bag pack? I look at my parents and feel the killing intent inside me building up. I think they felt that I was pissed, because they immediately told that it is a special bag pack.

This "special" bag pack is modified with magic no matter what you put inside you feel like you are carrying still an empty bag pack. If they don't tell me the truth I think I will slaughter them after finishing school.

Now to the last gift, because I don't want to be disappointed  about this last gift so I already think that it will be crap.

Well the last thing actually is the best. It is my school uniform, but because I applied for Dual they gave me two. Now I am having a deep blue robe with a golden and red Lion emblem and brown Warrior clothes with the same emblem.

My mother and father then came to me and the rest of the day we talked and laughed.

The next morning was my last morning at home. For at least 6 years I won't be able to come back.

I had to stand up at 5 am and prepare my belongings for the traveling. This took about one hour and after that I walked with the bag pack into the dining room to eat breakfast for the last time with my family.

I leave the house and my parents follow me out of the door. They stay there and smile at me and mom hugs me for a last time. She begins to cry and dad has to take her away or I wouldn't be able to get going.

Luckily the carriage we ordered is already there and so I hop in and my adventure begins.

It takes about one week to get to the borders of Kaiser with a carriage and another week to get to the capital. So it takes two weeks to arrive at the Academy.

Because nothing happened during my travel I will tell you how the environment looked like.

Well there were many fields with people on them some hills in the background and from time to time soldiers were seen traveling on the road.

The villages we stopped at, so we can take rest were all the same as my home town. A guild hall for adventurers a casern for the soldiers and a tavern. The rest of the Buildings were of the people living inside the village.

After six days we then passed the border of Perigontia and entered Kaiser. We actually travelled faster because the last village we wanted to rest at was already full with travelers.

But that is no problem because everybody knows that once in Kaiser the villages are better. The materials used for building are always a grade higher than in the other countries.

Everything in Kaiser looked like it was better. This may be because the people do not need to go to the army if they don't want to, and spend their complete savings for their family and not for drinking.

The hills in Kaiser are actually less but there are some big mountains in the west.

After traveling for 13 days we saw the walls of  Karzo the capital of Kaiser. We arrived at the east gate of the city because Perigontia is one of the countries in the east.

The gate in front of us was the biggest gate I've ever seen. Not even the gates for the palace of Perigontia were this big. This gate was at least 12m high and was completely made out of high class materials.  

The city had 4 walls in total, the first ring was for soldiers and normal people. The second ring was for shops such as blacksmiths, fruits, vegetables, etc. , the third ring was divided in half. One side was for the aristocracy and the other half belongs to the Academy of Magic and Swordsmanship of Gideas . The last ring is the palace of the royal family.

We rode through the first, second and third gate and were now in front of the school gates. I took my bag pack and left the carriage. Before the driver left I thanked him and gave him the gold coin he gets for driving me.

Now I only need to get to the entrance and do the elemental affinity test.

From tomorrow onwards chapters may be released slower because of me being in school but I try to release them at least every two days.
