Chapter 16 – Hunter Valley.

I woke up next morning. Had breakfast. Today was the day two last finalists would be known. There were lots of people attending to watch the fights. Out of nowhere Roia jumped up, hugged me. As we were walking to pre-fight room, she locked her left arm to my right arm.

[Roia]: I expect you to win today.

[Me]: I’ll give my best.

She kissed me on right cheek and told me it’s a pre-fight stimulus. She has prepared a special package to be present to me if I win the today’s battle.

There were 2 male contestants and 2 female ones left. I would be facing Zara in todays match. She was a beautiful brunette who was a junior year student in our academy, and Roia’s eldest cousin.

Signal was given. I used both my hands to control Ulfberht. I had my right leg up in front and left one the same level with my shoulders. I bended a little and began to pour mana out of my body. Zara had her hands up(palms facing herself) and chanted some spell. Earth began to vibrate and arrows made of rocks began to emerge from ground and levitate on air. She turned hands in opposite and with her index fingers pointed at me chanted something again and hundreds of arrows started to fly towards me.

I concentrated and felt as if Ulfberht was part of me. My body kind of burst an amazing amount of mana outside in a second. Boom. And a shockwave burst in all directions, epicenter being I, outwardly. All the arrows, which were coming at me, turned to dust. Zara had chanted a spell for a rocky wall to be emerged in front of her to survive the shockwave. The magic barrier, which protected audience, had cracked. Magicians were chanting another spell to create a second barrier. I teleported close enough to rocky wall. I used my right hand to handle the Ulfberht and placed him on my right shoulder. I brought up my left arm to shoulder lever. Formed a fist, having my thumb pressing on my index finger hard to suppress it. Released my thumb and my index finger hit the wall. It crushed and Zara fell on her knees in shock. I came by her, took her right hand with my left. Raised both my and her hand in to air. Everyone went crazy. Applauses, cries, girls were jumping around. I had won! I turned my face to Zara and told her that the last part of the fight was a gift from Roia.

Roia met me after the battle in private. She told me I should come to her house to collect the gift for winning. I touched her nose with my thumb and put my hand on her right side of her face. I stepped forward and my fingers run through her silky hair. I kissed on her forehead and let go of her. She blushed, turned around and ran away.

[Ulfberht]: You are good!

[Me]: You have to meet my father.

The next day, I went to arena for final match. My opponent, a junior year student mage forfeited the match. I become the winner without even fighting the last match. On 30th of Mut, in a public ceremony my name was announced as the winner of annual tournament and I was given a certificate stamped by principal, which would later on be sent to my family.  Same day I was given notification that I would be sent as an intern to a brigade, which was protecting our south western borders and by 2nd of Elas I had to be ready to be sent off.

I went to my room and an hour later Mariette came by. She told me she was going back to village for summer holidays. I asked her to see my family and tell them that I love them. Before she left, we hugged and kissed. She asked me to be careful during the assignment. I smiled and she left.

[Ulfberht]: What if they talk to each other about you?

[Me]: I told you; you have to meet my father. He has a solution for everything.

[Ulfberht]: Hahahaa…

[Me]: Ulfberht, I gotta leave you here alone for now.

[Ulfberht]: You going to Roia’s?

[Me]: Yeah. If you wanna come over just turn to your ring form.

He did transform and I put Ulfberht on my right pinky finger. I headed towards the Ricat’s house and talked to Elise. Later on we went to Roia’s family manor. I had fun time and Roia told me that the gift was not ready yet and she would be able to give it to me only after I came back to school next year. We left Roia’s house late night. I escorted Elise to Ricat’s mansion. She was not her usual self. It was late night. I put my hands of either side of her face. We kissed. I have never gotten so lost in a kiss before.

Next morning I packed my stuff and went over to Public Relations Department. They send me to airport, where I had to take an express balloon to fly to village of Afcul. On 14th of Elas, I was in village of Afcul. I was greeted by a mage called Elana. She bought some herbs and potions and we left to Hunter Valley.

P.S: I do not like long chapters, BUT this chapter was much much shorter than the usual ones I write up. The reason is I want to end up, tournament thing and move on...
