Chapter 9: Divine Miracle!

Chapter 9: Divine Miracle!

The direct clash between the two ultimate spells did not create an earth-shattering scene. On the contrary, the entire area fell into an eerie silence.

Curious, I opened my eyes to find the massive spheres of pure magical elements in front of the two bosses unexpectedly merging together. Like a solar eclipse, the Absolute Zero energy gradually infiltrated the Hellfire, and where they overlapped, the color turned a pale blue.

Could a miracle be happening?

When the two spheres completely merged, a pale blue sphere was born. Neither of the bosses could cast even the smallest of spells.

Should I give them a little nudge? I thought maliciously, but my fear of both Medusa and the dragon made me abandon what was undoubtedly a suicidal idea.

At that moment, without any warning, the pale blue energy sphere suddenly shattered, filling the air with countless ripples. A blue beam shot up into the sky! Under the blue light, the ripples in the air transformed into waves, surging like an ocean.

The energy shockwave reached me too, but surprisingly, I wasn't instantly killed, and my HP didn't even decrease!

"Kekeke! I can't believe it, the legend turned out to be true." Medusa stood leaning on her staff, panting heavily. "The collision of ultimate water and fire spells causes a qualitative change... cough, damn it!" It was clear that the ultimate spell had drained Medusa of her magical and physical energy.

"This is just a tiny bit of the noble dragon's power. If not for your treachery, you wouldn't be walking out of this canyon alive," the red dragon Sonia spoke weakly, clearly on the brink of exhaustion.

"Oh? Really? Sonia, take a look at what this is!" Medusa put away her staff, and a two-handed greatsword appeared in her hands like a magic trick.

The red dragon Sonia's lantern-like eyes narrowed sharply in despair.

"Kekeke! Didn't expect me to have a Dragon Slayer Sword, did you? Time for you to wake up!" Medusa dragged the greatsword step by step toward the red dragon. The sword's cold gleam made Sonia's fear even more evident.

I was stunned again. According to the legends, such a sword did exist in Tercia. It was said to be the nemesis of all dragons. Everyone knew that a dragon's nearly perfect body had immense physical defense, rendering most weapons ineffective. But the Dragon Slayer Sword was different. It was said to be forged by the gods specifically to punish unruly dragons—every time a dragon incited public outrage, a legendary hero would wield the Dragon Slayer Sword to challenge the evil dragon, always emerging victorious.

This was the game's history, not worth mentioning. But the dragon's fear made me believe the sword had a devastating effect on dragons. With the dragon unable to breathe fire or move, placing such a nemesis sword on its neck would mean certain death.

"Medusa! I warned you not to challenge a true dragon with noble blood! You will pay the price!" The red dragon Sonia roared as if in a last burst of life.

The situation changed again. Sonia began chanting in Dragon Tongue, rapidly spitting blood as she did. Seeing the dragon's blood, I had a realization—when I learned the gathering skill, the teacher had sold me ten glass bottles. Those bottles weren't for collecting anything less precious than this "noble" blood.

As the dragon's body shone with a blood-red light, Medusa, alarmed by Sonia's state, cried out and swung the greatsword at Sonia's head.

Medusa was slapped away by the reanimated dragon's claw, crashing into the cliff, while the Dragon Slayer Sword embedded itself in Sonia's shoulder. With a loud crash, the red dragon's massive body collapsed.

My mind went blank.

What was the saying? When the snipe and the clam fight, the fisherman gains. In this case, it was the bosses fighting, and I was the fisherman who stood to gain! Trembling with excitement, I muttered this saying to myself, cursing my luck that "man dies for wealth, birds die for food."

Trembling, I climbed down the tree, carefully sliding down the cliff, then donned my gear and picked up my staff. The green glow gave me some confidence. Casting a magic shield on myself, I appeared before the dragon in the next moment.

"Lowly reptile, what do you intend to do?" The dragon's presence, even near death, was suffocating.

Haha! I laughed maniacally to mask my fear and anxiety.

"Lowly lizard, you are the most foolish creature in this world." Seeing the dragon immobilized, I pointed my staff at its head, mimicking its tone. "Dying by my hand is your fate, accept it!"

I cast a life drain spell, causing a forced 1 damage point. But that didn't matter; there was still the Dragon Slayer Sword!

Putting away my staff, I gripped the sword and plunged it into the dragon again. The dragon let out a mournful cry, and damage points of -284 and -247 appeared with each strike.

The delightful "ding ding" sound was like music to my ears. Oh, heaven! If I didn't miscount, there were 31 notifications. What beautiful music!

Looking at my level, I suddenly understood what luck meant. From an 18th-level novice mage to a 49th-level advanced mage, it was unbelievable! How many days and nights of hard work would that have taken?

After a brief moment of mindless joy, I quickly regained my composure and pulled out the beloved Dragon Slayer Sword. If only I were a warrior! The moment I pulled out the sword, a fountain of dragon blood sprayed all over me.

"Receiving a dragon blood baptism, rewards as follows: 1. Permanently increase HP by 100 points. 2. Increase constitution by 10 points. Please choose."

What? Such benefits? Excitement surged! As a mage, of course, I chose the first option! Mages gain only 8 HP per constitution point, whereas warriors gain 12. This was one reason I didn't increase my constitution.

Kicking the dragon's corpse, I quickly filled ten bottles with dragon blood, while regret took root and grew into a towering tree in my heart—I should have listened to the teacher and brought more, no, dozens more bottles!

After collecting the dragon blood, my gathering skill leveled up to intermediate. What a lovely boss!

I circled the dragon's body and found several pieces of equipment scattered on the ground. Quickly, I picked up a shield, a ring, and a sword, along with a skill book and a token. My heart filled with joy as I stowed the items away. Suddenly, I remembered the other boss whose fate was still unknown!

If I killed it too... No, my heart was already at its limit! I walked quickly over, slightly disappointed. The once invincible Medusa was already dead from the dragon's final strike. Fortunately, she dropped two skill books, a staff, and a ring.

Recalling the rainbow glow of Medusa's staff, I bet it was a legendary artifact. But at this point, I was too happy to care—tonight's adventure had prepared me to face any future scene, any equipment, with calm.

Returning to the dragon's body, I took out my gathering knife and began harvesting.

In a sense, every part of a dragon is valuable. From its horns, scales, skin to its blood, everything is a top-grade material for crafting equipment, enhancing weapons, and concocting elixirs. This was something I couldn't afford to waste!
