**Chapter 8: The Legendary Duel**

The sharp mountain wind continually brushed past my ears as my body plummeted rapidly under the influence of gravity. Even though I knew it was just in-game death, which would only result in losing some levels, the sensation of being shattered into pieces would still be slightly simulated in my nerves. Even if it was just for a moment, it was definitely an extremely unpleasant experience!

By a stroke of luck—or rather misfortune—due to my misjudgment of the valley's depth, my falling speed was constantly reduced by countless shrubs and protruding branches from the cliffs. Ultimately, I landed on a tree that extended from the cliff, where I lost consciousness.

When I gradually woke up—or more accurately, was awakened by the massive roars and dazzling magical flashes below—it was already late at night.

Roar! A furious roar echoed from below, followed by a red beam of light shooting into the sky, turning the entire canyon a shade of crimson. Even lying powerless on the tree branch, the dazzling brilliance pricked my eyes, and an overwhelming heat wave swept over me, causing my HP to drop rapidly.

Instinctively, I grabbed a bunch of red potions from my backpack and gulped them down, completely ignoring the searing pain in my body. Despite my earlier desire for death, the sudden spectacle had already piqued my curiosity. What kind of character could unleash such powerful magic?

Enduring the intense heat and excruciating pain, I parted the tree branches and looked down.

The first thing I saw was a woman holding a staff, with a magic shield in front of her. The faint blue light continually flowed, indicating the ultimate advancement of a magic shield—Magic Mirror. The staff in her hand emitted a seven-colored radiance, each wave leaving behind splendid afterimages. Was it an artifact?

Who was this player? The woman’s staff unleashed lightning and Death’s Kiss, while the Magic Mirror in front of her completely blocked the overwhelming flames.

Following the flames, my eyes widened in shock!

Damn! Who had the guts to challenge the ruler of the magical world—a dragon? Indeed, the roar had come from a massive red dragon with a body resembling a small hill.

"Kekeke! Give up, lowly reptile!" The woman’s metallic voice rang out. I was startled again; was that a human voice?

"Medusa, though I've fallen into your trap, the noble dragon race will never abandon its territory. Don't think you can achieve that!" The dragon roared, spewing flames that clashed against the Magic Mirror.

Medusa? I gasped. The fiery dragon breath couldn't suppress the chill of fear in my heart. Taking a closer look at the woman's head, sure enough, her writhing hair was made up of venomous snakes.

A ridiculous thought crossed my mind—jumping off that cliff was definitely the right call!

In the world of "Destiny," there are roughly two types of bosses. The first type is the leader of various monster groups. These bosses are stronger and higher level than their kin and can command "units" of monsters in battle. This kind of boss is the most common, appearing most frequently in front of players.

The second type, however, represents the most powerful entities in "Destiny," such as dragons, phoenixes, Medusa, and other legendary creatures. These bosses are unique; their names alone symbolize their very existence, unlike other bosses that represent a species. These bosses also have the characteristic of ruling their territories alone, using their authority to command lower-level monsters within their domains.

Medusa and a red dragon, two legendary bosses that should each rule their own territories, had met and were now fighting.

"Kekeke! Sonia, I suggest you give up. I don’t believe a dragon can pull off any tricks once its head is petrified." Medusa's harsh voice rang out again. She continued to unleash elementary spells at the red dragon as if toying with it. "Or should I shout out that there's a petrified dragon here? Imagine the chaos as countless dragon-slaying squads rush in."

"You! Even in death, the proud dragon race will never fall to those weak creatures! Medusa, you underestimate a dragon's power!" The red dragon Sonia, clearly a fire dragon, spewed dragon breath more fiercely in her fury.

Firstly, I corrected the concept of "reptile" in my mind. Then, I used my remaining rationality to analyze the situation. Clearly, this place belonged to the red dragon Sonia, but Medusa had set her sights on it. The proud dragon had then fallen into Medusa’s trap and had been partially petrified—Medusa's signature move. Hence, the current scene: a furious red dragon using its breath to attack Medusa while she toyed with it using low-level spells, waiting for the dragon's mana to run out.

Having analyzed the situation, I calmed down. Witnessing a legendary duel between two mythical bosses was not something luck alone could bring about. Take me, for example—it also required a desperate leap to death. With this in mind, I quickly activated the recording function and started filming the two bosses—such a demo was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

As expected, the red dragon's breath weakened, losing its initial heat. Medusa wasn't unscathed either; her Magic Mirror broke several times. Even someone as powerful as her couldn’t withstand a dragon's breath head-on. Scorched by the dragon’s breath multiple times, Medusa was in a sorry state, with most of her snake hair burned off, the remaining ones barely alive.

"You insignificant reptile, I'm done wasting time with you. You should feel the call of the Dragon God by now!" Medusa, without her earlier cackling, was visibly annoyed and exhausted. She jumped out of the breath's range, raised her staff, and began chanting.

"Spirits of ice and snow, control the world of ice and snow..." With Medusa's chant, an overwhelming coldness rose between heaven and earth. Countless visible snowflakes gathered towards her staff, forming a massive white sphere.

Simultaneously, the red dragon Sonia stopped spewing breath and began chanting in a language I couldn’t understand—Dragon Language. As the chant continued, numerous fire element spirits joyfully converged above the dragon's head.

By this point, I was utterly stunned—both bosses were preparing to unleash their ultimate moves! Even if it meant dying ten times, it would be worth it to witness this!

Finally, both bosses completed their chants almost simultaneously. It seemed like a clash between a fire-based forbidden spell and an ice-based forbidden spell was imminent. Just as I was lost in chaotic thoughts, the two giant spheres, one of ice and one of fire, shot towards each other.

Absolute Zero versus Hellfire! Damn, don't let me die! This was my only prayer as I closed my eyes.
