Kieran turned his attention from the sweet scene back over to Riven. “I think that he makes a good point, you would be useful,” he stated, letting his tense muscles relax. He had not even realized they were tight until just then, to be honest.

“I’m glad you think so,” Riven nodded curtly.

“If I let you out of these binds, do you promise to swear loyalty to our squad from here on out, at least until our quest is over with?” Kieran made very direct eye contact with him.

If you encounter this narrative on Amazon, note that it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

Riven took time to genuinely consider before giving his answer. “I did not think this was how today would go, but… yes, I promise. I swear it.”

“Good. I will give you one chance to prove yourself,” the minty fox’s countenance softened and he leaned down to untie the ropes that kept the outlaw immobilized. Once he was free, Riven rubbed his arms and hand-paws, alleviating the soreness.

“Thank you,” Riven reached out to shake Kieran’s hand, to which the bounty hunter obliged. “Let’s formally introduce ourselves, and start fresh. My name is Riven Treeglade, of the heart of Veridis, master of crimson daggers; and you?”

The mint-furred fox dipped his head in polite respect. “I’m Kieran Dravenholm, of Drakewood Heights in the Ironpeak Mountains, life-long bounty hunter. It is bittersweet to meet you.”

Riven smirked cheekily. “I’ll stick with Spearmint.”

“Only if you want an unfortunate meeting with my daggers,” Kieran twitched his whiskers, half joking. “Brownie.”

Yep. It would seem they’d get along just fine. For now.
