"Are you sure you'd like to know more about my power? You must already know some from your history books. There is much I can do with you, woman."
She nodded. "I know a decent amount, but you've already proved that you have more than what those books claimed you have. Like your standard abilities."
"With the powers I originated with I could force you asleep, force you into the Nightmare Realm, surround you with mobs, torch you, electrocute you, and take control over you for a brief time depending on the level of your willpower, as well as a few other things you probably wouldn't want to experience. However, I can do so much more when it comes to certain commands. Even as something as simple as this." He held out his hand toward her and she felt herself feel strange and yet completely fine; if not the best she's felt in a while. It was nice. Herobrine felt a bead of sweat on his face, he knew he shouldn't grant her access to this power specifically, but he was curious. Unfortunately for him though, transmitting the creative ability to the human was taking quite a lot of energy; more so than the other commands he tested on her. "Quickly woman, hold your hands out and think up something you'd like to have or need, something you can hold. Think of this object or items with all your focus on them, it shall manifest, but quickly now."
What Herobrine asked of her was a little confusing, but with the man now appearing more serious with his demeanor; she closed her eyes and cupped her hands together before opening them and holding them out before her, trying to think of something she could really use. It didn't take long to realize that she could use some gems to sell and help pay for food and other necessities. Diamonds, she could use a handful of them, maybe even save a few to buy her a dress. And in seconds of focusing her thoughts on the gleaming cyan gems, she felt several pointed items land in her palms. Her eyes open and widen in shock at the sight of her hands being full of diamonds! She stared in awe and joy, but mostly in shock.
Herobrine was surprised she didn't realize that her feet weren't touching the ground; Stephanie wasn't flying but she was elevated an inch or so from the floor. He released her from the command and she landed on her heels, eyes still wide as she checked the legitimacy of the gems; like she couldn't believe that they were real and were in perfect condition. Herobrine panted a bit and wiped his forehead with the back of his palm, he suddenly didn't feel so good, yet the woman's shock was a nice distraction and he couldn't help but beam with pride.
"This... this is amazing! You can just 'manifest' whatever you want whenever you want?!" She stared at the man in disbelief.
"Tch, of course, I'm a god." He said with arrogance. "Have you forgotten?" He gestured.
She looked back at the diamonds and then back to him. "Do I get to keep them?"
He shrugged. "I wouldn't see why not, I have no use of the rocks." The woman smiled at him and quickly moved over to the mantle of the fireplace to set the diamonds down, she counted them as she placed them; appearing so joyous and thrilled as her heart hammered away at her chest in excitement.
"Thank you Herobrine, couldn't be a better time to have something to pay back some people I owe or get a few things I'd like to have while I still can, I've never had this much value in one place! You must be a rich individual."
His demeanor flattened. "Hmph, no god has a need for wealth, not when I can have whatever I want whenever I want it." He paused as she turned back around, smiling brightly despite how he had treated her just minutes ago. It is surprising how quick the mortal was to bounce back and seem to forgive him of his vile exploits for entertainment. Dumb, foolish, and yet strangely endearing. So innocent, pliable to his benifit. Her smile and admiration though, was surprisingly enjoyable. He felt very prideful at the moment. "Hm, if you thought simply obtaining items out of thin air was an exciting command then you haven't seen anything yet. I think I have something that may be much more appealing to a curious and adventurous mortal such as yourself."
"And that would be?" The woman asked, thoroughly invested in this particular command.
"Have you ever wondered what it was like to spectate the world around you? Seeing everything and yet your vision undeterred by the physical realm and limitations of the physical body?"
The woman blinked, eyeing him curiously. "You mean like a spirit?"
The man softly chuckled. "Mmm, something like that." His eyes glowed and the woman vanished before his eyes; though unseen he could still sense her presence.
Stephanie felt a strange and powerful sensation consume her body in an instant. It was very brief, she then felt wholly weightless and oddly formless but could see her body, however; it was completely see-through to her. She gawked as she stared at the floor through her hands and tried to bring her palms together but could only watch as they passed through each other. She noticed how she felt so bizarre, power coursed through her but she could barely feel anything else; like she was there but not. She then noticed that she was seeing more than just the floor beneath her feet, she could see what looked like small tunnels far below her home, only alighted by spots of glowing algae here and there and small pits of lava deep down into the depths of the world. She thought she could even see a mob or two just roaming around in the hollow spaces, the glowing eyes of spiders and Endermen eyes were terrifying to see; thankfully they were down there and not closer to the surface.
"Enjoying the view?"
"This... it's incredible, I can see mobs underneath our feet, so far down though it's a bit difficult."
"Then maybe this will help?" Herobrine grinned through the sudden increased strain on his body as his eyes glowed again. More droplets of sweat formed on his face and he lightly shuddered as he kept his energy flowing into the human. "How about now?"
In the blink of an eye, Steph gaped and stared with wide eyes as the world around and beneath her was suddenly illuminated as if she had downed a night vision potion of the greatest quality. Her eyes could now see many tunnels and mobs scattered about here and there, moving around and passing through caverns and narrow spaces. There were a lot more tunnels than expected and it was amazing to see so many exposed ore in the caves; her brother would go insane if he knew how many ores were below her house. The woman turned around and looked about at the floor as she admired the unknown world below her from the safety of her home, there was so much to gaze upon and find.
"You know, there's more to see than what you find below your feet."
His words have her looking up and staring in awe that she could see through the walls of her house, she could see people in town moving about and minding their own business; some shopping from the stall vendors outside and others in shops. The blacksmiths were busy sharpening weapons, the baker and his assistants moving around like busy bees as they prepared for the lunch hour. From them to people sitting at home, some still asleep while others doing chores. She quickly averted her eyes with a warm face when she saw something going on that she didn't mean to witness, she wanted to respect the couple's privacy so and fixed her attention elsewhere while trying not to pry too much. It was still pretty cool though, seeing everything around her with no barriers. "You can see through walls and such?" She questioned, turning back around to see Herobrine, he didn't seem to be looking at her directly but in her direction at least. Her smile waned a little as she noticed how his posture was rigid and he looked uncomfortable with a slight sweat and was taking heavier and longer breaths. "Are you alright?"
"I can, but I don't typically use this command much. Like a few others it... takes a bit of energy to utilize to its full potential. When it comes to you mortals, it takes... even more."
"Energy? There are limitations?"
Ignoring her comment Herobrine forced a smirk. "You can move around through walls as well, and even float. The best view you'll find is far up above your house, why not head up and take a look?" He gestured with his hand, his limb ever so gently shaking.
"If you insist." She says with a hint of concern and looks up at her ceiling, she sees the skies and the sun but doesn't go anywhere. "Uh, how do I float?"
The man sighed with a wavering grin, "Just do it." He said with impatience in his tones. "You can pass through objects and drift wherever you like, but you must will yourself to do so. That is as simple as I ca- can ... explain it. Just make sure to go up high enough for the best view you'll ever witness, but try and make it quick ... if you can."
She didn't like the sudden crack in his voice tones but he still wore his grin; putting her a little at ease. She focused on her form and soon began moving through the air as if she was imagining herself flying, she wanted to go up and soon found herself passing through her ceiling and up above her roof; floating upward towards the cloudless blue sky. She forced herself to move quickly, avoiding looking at the world below at the moment to see what Herobrine wanted her to see.
Once she believed she was high enough, Stephanie finally moved her eyes to the world around her and below and quickly found herself lost in a moment in wordless awe as her gaze moved about. She could see the world around her for many miles out, mountains far off in the distance to the west and to the east, the open span of ocean blue to the south, and many more plains, large hills, rivers, and oak and cedar forests to the north. It was all so beautiful, so much more than any picture in a book or landscape painting she'd ever seen in her life. Thankfully the see-through effect only went out a certain distance so she was able to take in the sights around her without much distractions fully, she was so amazed by the view that her fear of heights seemed to be non-existent for the moment. The experience of seeing the world from such a point of view was certainly going to be an unforgettable one, it's one of the most beautiful things she's ever seen.
Herobrine's grin faded and he started visibly panting, his eyes narrowed. Something wasn't right and he could feel it; a feeling he so despised and one he had only ever experienced on a few rare occasions. He could tell his vision was worsening when even the creases between the wooden floorboards at his feet began to appear a little fuzzy instead of being fully clear and sharp, a sign that his strength was rapidly depleting. His muscles began to ache, his heart strained to continue proper blood flow, and he generally felt exhaustion coming upon him.
He shouldn't be suffering these strange effects, but after putting a bit of thought into it Hero had a feeling of what was happening and why.
"Notch." He growled lowly to himself, scowling, eyes thinly narrowing as his hands ball into fists. He could sense the source of his command powers within himself now directly affecting him, instead of giving him power as usual; it was now siphoning it away.
"I warned you about that block when using it on others, I warned you a long time ago. Have you forgotten already?"
The condescending voice of the creator was suddenly there in the living room, but as Herobrine glanced around with gritted teeth; he found no one. He snorted. "Now is not the time to be bothering me you piece of shit," He snarled. "You're the one who is doing this to me."
"No, you're doing it to yourself. You're the reason why I had to change the command block in the first place brother, you've been warned not to abuse mortals with it; just like in the past times. You should be glad I didn't remove some features despite what you can do to them with commands outside of 'their' code."
"Shut up!" Herobrine shouted, sweat dripping down his face and pelting the floor. "I'm not abusing the woman with it."
"Well you already did, but that doesn't matter. You're not supposed to use more than one command for a certain amount of time on an individual username at any time, you're pushing boundaries and paying the price for it."
"This doesn't concern you so stay out of my business," Herobrine warned. "I'll do what I want, or must I remind you that this is my world as well as everything in it? How many times must I tell you?"
There was a long pause. "You're not going to last long, get her down and get to the Nether quick; while you can. You know what can happen if you pass out Herobrine, if you lose 'it' and get killed... well I won't be able to bring you back, not anymore."
"Shut up Notch." He growled. "You left me, of course, I can't be brought back, you damn deserter!"
"I never wanted to limit you, ... if you had only listened the first time I warned you; then the possibility of permanently dying would have never existed in the first place."
He could feel the transfer of energy fading, he ignored the disembodied voice and focused.
Stephanie continued to take in the world around her and occasionally looked at the people down far below, they were like silverfish; they were so small and moved about through the quiet peaceful town. She smiled and lightly laughed at how astounding it was to be up in the sky and no one noticed her, getting the best view in all the land; no one was ever going to believe what she was getting to see. She felt special by the thought. It's not every day that a person gets such an amazing experience.

'Mortal, return to me... at once.'
"Herobrine?" The woman looked down at her house below her and could barely see Herobrine, he didn't sound good; his voice tones were faint. She willed herself to move downward and quickly began descending, as she neared her roof she could see the immortal better and noticed something was very wrong with him with him somewhat haunched over and a hand on his head. As she passes through the ceiling, she almost immediately loses the night vision effect and regains her physical form. "Agh!" She fell to the floor with a pained grunt and lifted herself to find Herobrine looking very tired and almost ill.
Herobrine felt so drained, his head was beginning to ache tremendously, and every second he felt closer to blacking out. His vision blurred and he began to stagger in place, he gritted his teeth and hissed in rage. "Damn it, damn the limit to these damn creatures." He quietly growled to himself and felt his anger boiling the longer he thought about it, he can only do so much at a time to a human when regarding his command powers. So not only did Notch ensure the entire name of a mortal to even use a command on, but he put a hard limitation on how long and how much he could use these powers on them before they backfired on him. This acknowledgment infuriated him, he never knew because he only ever discovered the full names of a select handful of mortals throughout his entire long life; never testing the limits of the commands on these few feeble creatures because they never survived long enough at his hands to even wonder about limitations. Notch just said that he warned him in the past, yet Hero didn't remember having the conversation, or... perhaps he just chose not to.
"Herobrine? Are you okay?" Steph asked. The worry grew in her expression, the man looked like he was going to fall. She grabbed a hold of his arm to steady him and held tightly to keep him on his feet; just managing to stop him from toppling over. Though lean she could tell he was a heavy man, it was taking a lot of her strength to keep him in place. "Do you... want to-" She winced in her struggle. "To sit down before you fall?"
The man growled and coiled his fingers to stop them from bringing destruction to Stephanie's home in his growing temper, Notch must have known long ago and limited the source of power while also scaling it down when transferred into a human so that they couldn't be tortured too much or be forced to do his bidding. Notch knew of the great power that the command block possessed, the item Hero wields, he knew how disastrous it could become when used for other means than originally intended. But the creator was a fool to not limit it more.
...
Notch held a small tan-colored cube at him, it had small flashing lights and multiple buttons on each side. "With this block Herobrine, you will no longer have to suffer death again. With that in mind, this will hopefully limit your need to kill out of revenge too. I want you to have it."
...
The man huffed. Then again; limiting it more would likely remove its ability to keep him fully immortal and neither would he be able to truly own the world and shape it at will.
Without it, he wasn't a god.
His anger simmered a little, at least his old brother didn't leave him empty-handed before he left.
"Herobrine... please," Stephanie asked with a pained gasp from exertion, now trying to pull him towards the couch. "Sit down before you... fall."
He didn't want to admit it, but the woman was right. His energy was rapidly depleted by the block of power within his being; punishing him for his overuse of it on a mortal. Ridiculous. The white-eyed man stumbled towards her couch and turned around crashing back onto it with the help of Stephanie's guidance, he let his head lean against the cushion and began panting more loudly, anxiously awaiting the cube to finish its chastisement. He couldn't access its powers to restore stamina or teleport back to his throne, he couldn't use it all for the moment or his basic powers. Something like this only ever happened a handful of times, one of those times was while he was trying to alter the code of the cube to...
His closed eyes narrowed, brows knitting; he didn't even want to think about that time. But the irreversible draining effect has happened before and he had always blacked out when it happened, surrendering to exhaustion. There was no doubt that he was going to pass out very soon, he hated vulnerability but could sense it was coming to his annoyance.
Beads of sweat formed on the man's face, his breaths audible and deep. Stephanie looked at him in shock and confusion, how did they go from actually having some legitimate fun and smiles together to this so quickly? Did the man suddenly become ill? What did he mean when he said limit to creatures... humans? She assumed what he meant by 'damn creatures'. Whatever it was, she felt her inner nurturing nature taking over as she moved into the kitchen to grab a glass cup from the cabinet and pour him a glass of water from the facet of the sink, she then moved back over and leaned forward with the glass; pressing it to his lips. "Here drink this."
To her surprise, Herobrine didn't refuse or even object to accepting the help and took a long drink, downing over half the glass in one go while holding the cup. She removed the cup when he leaned his head back and breathed, she then set it on the small table on the side of the couch in case he wanted more later. "Hey, are you okay Herobrine? You don't look well." She said with a growing expression of worry.
The man scowled, he despised attention of this sort. Yet that was the least of his problems at the moment, he was in human territory and about to become as feeble as one and possibly in the clutches of them too should the woman alert them of his presence. "Save your pity and care mortal, I'll be fine; I'm just ... tired." He softly fussed, leaning his head upright and giving a small glare at the woman. "I will rest here, you will not disturb me nor will you tell anyone of my whereabouts and condition. Are we... clear?"
He sounded quite aggressive and almost... afraid. Maybe not for himself in her company but the woman could tell that there was some concern by the sounds of his voice tones and the serious look he gave her. It wouldn't seem wise to point that out so she kept that part to herself. "I won't. Just lay down and rest, here-." She grabbed him by the arm and tried to pull his upper torso to the side to help him lay down, but he wasn't budging. 'He just has to be a stubborn type.' She thought and exhaled heavily. "Lie down, resting like this will probably give you back pain. You were kind enough to move me to my bed when I needed it, let me at least try and return the favor, please?" She asked. The man was hesitant but soon leaned to the side to rest his head on the arm of the couch; Stephanie then helped to lift his legs from hanging over the side of the sofa; to rest up on the cushion. She then grabbed his left arm hanging over the side of the couch and brought it up to rest on his chest.
"There." She leaned back and checked over his posture, Herobrine was quite a tall man, how he fit on the long couch was almost astonishing. "Are you comfortable?"
What kind of question was that? The man wondered as the woman stood back a few feet, hands together while looking him over. He would have told her to leave him to rest already but he had a feeling the woman wouldn't be swayed to adhere to his demands so easily; not while he's like this. With every passing second he could feel his strength fading from him, his heart slowing, limbs feeling numb and heavy as if they were turning into stone. He mentally cursed the cube for its full reversal, then cursed Notch for altering it in a way that it can't be re-modified. Of course, his brother only ever altered it from the start because he abused the object of power; especially when he used it to nearly decimate a very structurally defensive town and reduce its population to a dozen fortunate mortals. Still, now he knew he couldn't abuse humans with it too much; not through individual commands. Not that it mattered, he'd rather deal with the humans the old-fashioned way; by hand.
"Well, are you?" She asked again.
He just stared.
"I'm going to assume so, you at least look it," Steph said, she then turned around and grabbed the red cover from the armchair and draped it over the man's body, she pulled it over his chest and brushed the wrinkles out of it. "You won't have to worry about visitors, I'll lock my door and close the blinds here shortly; I'm not expecting any visits for the rest of the day anyway; so you should be safe here." She caught the man staring at her as she did this, just eyeing her and surprisingly without complaint.
Why was she even doing any of this? Was it out of fear? Any human in their right mind would relish the opportunity to have him at a moment of vulnerability, whether it's to take revenge or at the very least; attempt to. The woman could easily deliver him into the hands of those who'd want to kill him, not that they could unless he lost a certain item; but he didn't want to suffer at their hands. Certainly not to be weaker than them, if even for a short time. He had no clue how long he'd be out until the command block stopped its draining effect and he didn't trust the mortal; she at least seemed to have good intentions. But why should she? In just a few more days he'd have her, both body and soul. She'll die when he's done. There is no gain, no benefit to wasting her time and resources on him, she only has a limited time to try to find a way to undo his immortality or get rid of him somehow, and yet it's wasted on his comfort.
What a foolish woman.
Herobrine now watched as Stephanie knelt, pulled the cover back, and gently moved his arm from his side to the top of his chest, she examined the bandages still around his hand and slowly unwound the gauze. Her eyes lit up in surprise as she stared at his open palm, the cut was gone and only flakes of dried blood could be found on his hand. She got back up and swiftly moved to the bathroom; disappearing for a short minute before returning with the wet rag from earlier, she then pressed the cloth to his hand and carefully wiped the blood away. It was warm to his surprise, she had taken the time to rinse it. Half-lidded white eyes watched as the human tenderly cleaned his hand and so meticulously at that, she made sure there wasn't a spec of blood left on him before using the cover to dry him.
"That takes care of your hand," Stephanie said with a faint smile, pulling the rag back and covering Herobrine back up. She returned to the bathroom to clean the stained cloth the best she could and left it to dry on the side of the sink before returning to Herobrine, she could tell by looking at him that he was fighting to stay conscious. "You can go ahead and sleep, just make sure to try and wake up before tomorrow morning; I do not want a repeat of what took place today." She briefly glanced away. "I can only come up with so many excuses. Not to mention I'm having a lot of company over tomorrow for a big dinner I have planned."
He didn't say anything, she expected a reaction of some sort by now but maybe he was too exhausted to think or even speak. 'How strange.' She thought. Stephanie left and ambled to her room, she soon returned with a small stack of papers, her inkwell, quill pen, and an old book covered in ink stains. She set the materials aside on the dining table and then moved over to the fireplace. She grabbed the sides of the armchair and turned it around, she then pushed it a few feet from the couch and moved to the door.
"I'll keep watch over you as I work on your song, so relax and get some rest."
Herobrine watched as she locked the door and closed the window blinds, then she returned for her writing materials and collected them before taking a seat in the chair just a few feet from him. Hero was at a point where he was struggling to keep his eyes open and his focus easily shifting in and out, his soft gaze watched as the woman got comfortable in her chair, setting the inkwell by her foot and using the book as a hard surface to write on her papers with. She stared blankly at the page for a long minute looking lost in thought, her eyes soon glanced up to meet his gaze. She smiled shyly for some reason, it was rather nice and evoked a sense of peace.
"You have a pretty smile." He muttered.
The words he spoke were unexpected, yet genuine. Stephanie blinked in surprise and tightened her hold on her quill, gaping a bit as her expression dropped. Surely Herobrine was tired, he probably didn't mean it. She reasoned, her smile returned. "That's rather ... kind of you Herobrine, perhaps too kind. I'd advise you to sleep now, or else you might say something you'd regret. You're the king of Mobs, after all, there's no need to stain your vile reputation with wholesome remarks. Besides, you'll start to show some of those 'feeble emotions' if you aren't too careful." To her surprise he lowly chuckled, eyes falling closed for a long moment before slowly opening back up. He clearly wasn't focusing.
This slack of his aggression gave Stephaine an idea, something she'd like to try while she could. She wasn't sure why she wanted to, other than out of curiosity, but now was a good opportunity to see what it was like. The woman placed her quill on the book and papers before setting them aside as she reached out a hand towards the man, he didn't react other than quietly watch her. She cautiously moved her right hand up to his hairline and pressed her fingers through the short dark auburn strands, starting with his bangs and moving across the top of his head, his hair was quite soft; not what she was expecting, and Herobrine allowed her to do so without interference or complaint. His eyes closed again and this time he took a deep breath with a low hum coming up from the depths of his throat, he appeared to be enjoying her nails lightly raking through his hair and gently over his scalp.
"Mmmmmmhhhh."
"Are you that touch-starved, Herobrine?" Steph couldn't resist a small chortle from his satisfied expression turning into a slightly irksome one with his brows knitting.
"Hmmm... Shut up, woman." He murmured, eyes remaining closed. "Don't stop, it feels good. That is a verbal command."
It wouldn't have hurt if he had just said please, but knowing him Stephanie continued to comb her fingers through his hair softly as commanded; she considered it a return favor for the compliment he gave her. Besides, it was nice; a strange and yet 'gentle' way to bond with one another. Though the nice thought was quick to fade, as was her smile. She could be as nice as feasibly possible and yet it probably wouldn't change much regarding his goals, maybe enough to grant her another small mercy; but probably not much more than that. Still, maybe if they grew closer, or at the very least she earned a bit of trust from him; then it might be possible that Herobrine would share more about himself to her and finally answer some of the questions that have been constantly lingering in her thoughts. Perhaps then those answers could lead to a possible solution to talking him down out of this war with humankind, it's a stretch to assume that things would even reach that far but she couldn't stop hoping; not with his aggression and temperament around her improving so much.
Even now this little moment between them felt like it was bringing them a little closer, though deep down she reminded herself to keep expectations low, Herobrine is known for manipulation and deceit in the legends about him; as are many more things about him in general. It couldn't be helped though, the woman was desperate for anything to change the white-eyed man's mind, she wanted so badly to believe that she was more than a tool of revenge and another mortal to slay. She actually kind of wanted to be the man's friend, seeing as he apparently has none with how bitterly he talks about both humans and mobs; yet he'd rather be alone.
Stephanie sighed, her fingers slowed when she noticed that Herobrine was finally asleep. He appeared so reposeful when he slept, so relaxed and not tense or intimidating like he was when awake. Soft breaths of air escaped his slightly parted lips, eyelids fully relaxed, nostrils ever so slightly flaring with every breath he took. All of his muscles lacked tension, his posture slackened, and all his limbs were splayed out a bit. She wondered if taking care of him in such a trying time could further improve his trust in her, if it was possible then she was certain to give him the best of care and hospitality for the remaining time in her residence.
With that thought taken to account, she placed her writing supplies down in the center of her seat and stood up; she then removed Herobrine's boots and set them on the side of the couch; as he had done for her the previous night. She then returned to her room to take one of her pillows and bring it to the living room to slide it underneath the man's head to give a bit more comfort and support his head and neck. Steph then took his nearly empty glass of water to the kitchen to refill it, just in case he woke up thirsty. While getting the water she also grabbed a clean washcloth from a cabinet drawer, placing the glass on the small table by the couch, Stephanie then took the cloth and wiped away the sweat from the man's face and then his neck.
There didn't seem much more that she could do at that point so she set the cloth aside and retrieved her writing materials before sitting back down, it would be a while before dinner so Stephanie decided to try and work on the song for the immortal; deciding to stay by his side for the time being seeing as he didn't take to kindly to being abandoned as he mentioned a couple days ago. Besides, as strange as it was, his company was rather nice, at least when he was asleep.
