Rabbit Appears

"You've got your costumes, right? Wearing them in public is strictly prohibited, but don't drop them."

"Yeahhh!" said Mina.

"And don't slur your 'yeah,' Ashido. All of you, be on your best behavior! Now go." said Aizawa-sensei.

"You're going to Okinawa, right?" Tobias asked Kyoka.

"Yeah. I still can't believe that Dragoon Hero: Ryukyu wants me to intern with her agency."

"I can believe it. You have the potential to be a great hero. Are you going on a plane or a boat?"

"Thanks. And plane, her agency paid for the ticket."

"Guess this is where we part ways then. Good luck, and just shoot me a text so I know you're okay. I don't want to take away time from your internship."

"I'll text you at the end of the night and in the morning. And good luck in Hosu. I can't believe the solo Rabbit Hero: Mirko chose you."

"Me either. I'm excited though. I heard she's a battle junkie." he said with a smile.

"Be careful."

"I will. You too." he said before hugging her and kissing her goodbye.

"Oh, Ida. You're going to Hosu too, right? Let's ride together." said Tobias after saying goodbye to Kyoka and turning around to see Ida.

"Okay." he said before walking off.

'Weird that Ida chose a random agency in Hosu instead of his brother's agency. Wonder if he's hunting the Hero Killer? In each location he's attacked, he killed or injured at least four heroes. In Hosu, he's only injured one. Ida thinks he's coming back and he wants to get his revenge for hurting his brother. Interesting.'

After a decent train ride, Tobias and Ida said their goodbyes before they went their separate ways. Tobias had also told Ida to send him a text if he needed help with anything.

After that, Tobias started following the directions that Mirko had given him. A short walk later, Tobias had ended up in a dead-end alley with no one there.

"Uhh, did she send me the right address?" said Tobias as he double-checked on his phone before his senses went off and he dodged backward.

BOOM

"Nice reaction time!" said the mysterious figure that had ambushed Tobias who rushed him with a kick which Tobias blocked, allowing him to grab hold of the attacker's leg before throwing them towards the wall.

"Nice!" said the figure as she landed on the wall allowing Tobias to see that it was his mentor, Mirko.

Bouncing off the wall before rebounding off another over and over, Mirko's speed was getting close to what Tobias couldn't keep up with anymore, so he discreetly took out a small buff card and activated it.

Having gotten enough speed, Mirko bounced off the wall one last time towards Tobias, kick aimed right at his chest. Right as it was about to reach him, Tobias sidestepped it before placing a card on Mirko's back and activating it.

SHING

Chains appeared from the card and wrapped Mirko up, but the momentum from her kick carried her forward, crashing into the ground.

"Oops. Are you okay?" asked Tobias as he walked up to where she crashed and undid the chains.

"Nice! I knew I saw something in you!" she said as she got up unscathed with a big smile on her face.

"Rabbit Hero: Mirko, but just call me Mirko, no formalities." she said as she looked up at him.

"Tobias Fukushima, Wild Card. Call me Tobias. Uh, I thought you were much taller." said Tobias as he looked down at her and noticed she was only a little taller than Kyoka.

"People always think I'm taller in person. It's the ears. They create the illusion I'm much taller. Also, be careful with using your quirk. You'll be able to use it when you're with me, but still."

"Okay. So, what now?"

"First, let's go to where you'll be staying. I don't have an agency since I'm a solo hero, so you'll be staying at a friend's place with me. I don't usually operate in or around Hosu, but with the Hero Killer on the loose, I decided to come here. We'll stay here until your internship ends, and if or when we run into the Hero Killer, you run. Understand?" she said, very seriously.

"Of course. And here, a thank you for being my mentor." said Tobias as he handed her two cards, a scrap-iron scarecrow that only activated when the incoming blow was potentially lethal and a healing card that would only activate when the user was gravely injured.

Tobias had figured out a way for others to use his cards. He was asleep and dreaming one night when he dreamt about an old Chinese novel from his past life. In the dream he saw someone drip blood onto an item, making it bound to them forever. After seeing that, he abruptly awoke and instantly created a card to test it out with his parents. Turns out, it works and no one but the person who dripped the blood could use it, except Tobias.

"This a part of your quirk?" she asked.

"Yup, I'll tell you more about it once we're in a safer place, but for now just drip a drop of blood on each card. Once you do that, they'll be bound to you and only usable by you, and me." he explained.

"Cool. Thanks." she said before biting her thumb and dripping blood on each card, causing them to shine and disappear before turning into a tattoo on the back of her hand.

"Whoa? What the hell was that?" she asked, rubbing the two symbols on her hand, the head of a scarecrow and a green plus sign before they too disappeared.

"Since the cards only activate under specific circumstances, I made it so they turn into little tattoos so you won't have to carry them around, or accidentally forget them." he explained.

"Awesome! That quirk of yours sure is something. Come on." she said.

"Wow, two life-saving cards. Thanks, kid!" said Mirko after Tobias explained what the two cards did once they had reached the house where they would be staying at.

The house was an old apartment building that had been gutted and renovated into an entirely new house. Apparently, Mirko was friends with a rich person. Though considering she is a ranked pro-hero, she probably has a good amount of money herself.

"So, what are we doing today? Patrolling?" asked Tobias, eager to do something.

"Later. But right now, we're eating! Make something." she said before flopping down on the couch and turning on the tv.

"Uh, okay. What do you like to eat?"

"Carrots."

"How about curry?"

"Okay. Extra carrots."

"Okay. Done." he said after taking out a card and creating the food.

"Eh, you're done already?" she asked turning around from watching tv to see two heaping dishes of curry with a scent that made her nose twitch and her ears straighten.

"Yup. This quirk of mine sure is convenient." said Tobias as he began to eat while Mirko made her way over to the table.

"Holy crap, kid. This smells amazing."

"Thanks."

"And it's good! Better than anything I've ever had!" she said as she devoured the food.

'I sure hope so. I specified curry made by the greatest chef from Food Wars.' thought Tobias as he looked up to see Mirko had finished.

"Another!"

"Sure." he said before creating another one.

"Haha! This is going to be a fun week! Make me a carrot." she said.

"Okay." said Tobias before thinking for a bit before creating a carrot.

"Holy hell." said Mirko as she laid her eyes on the carrot and her rabbit instincts went into overdrive.

"Made this one special just for you." said Tobias, with a smile. He had specified to create the most amazing carrot in the world, and it seems to have worked like a charm.

"Alright, I like you kid. Even more now than I did earlier." she said as she ate the carrot with a blissful expression.

"Thanks. So, after eating what are we doing?" asked Tobias, while still eating his curry.

"I know you're good in a fight based on our earlier scuffle and from the Sports Festival, but I want to test your CQC without any quirks, just skill. After that, depending on how long it takes, we'll patrol the city for a bit before we come back and rest. Then tomorrow, we'll patrol all day."

"Aren't you supposed to tell me what being a hero is like on the regular? Like the paperwork and stuff?"

"Meh, boring. Who cares about that? You'll learn all that eventually, so I'm not going to waste my time with that. I'd rather spend your week with me sparing and patrolling." she said with a smile.

"I knew I chose the right mentor." said Tobias with his own smile.

After eating, Tobias and Mirko went to the gym that was in the basement and fought using purely their skill, while Mirko held back her strength, considering she couldn't turn it off. But after a few rounds, Tobias suggested he use a card on both of them to bring their strength down to regular humans, so they could go all out with their sparring.

Mirko, always up for some fun, agreed and they spent the next few hours sparring with normal human strength. After that, they rested for a bit before going out on patrol, not finding anything. Apparently, the Hero Killer striking in Hosu had created a panic in the city with not many people being out and about unless necessary, including villains.

On the second day, Mirko woke up Tobias with a surprise attack during his sleep that caught him off guard. Mirko said a hero should always be ready, even in their sleep. After Mirko made Tobias make breakfast, they sparred for a bit before they patrolled the city all day. This time around they managed to stumble on a robbery, but Tobias was unable to interfere because Mirko took care of it so fast.

But because of stopping that robbery, Tobias was able to see what a hero had to do when they stopped a villain. It turns out, it was a lot of boring paperwork. Mirko made Tobias do it as a "teaching moment", but they both knew it was because she couldn't be bothered to do it. After that robbery, they continued their patrol while Mirko was telling Tobias about things he should look out for during a patrol.

Tobias was actually surprised at how thorough Mirko was when it came to being a hero. He thought she would be all brawns and no brain, but she's both. Though over the course of the day, he came to realize that Mirko had a very brash personality and she said whatever she wanted even if it hurts someone's feelings. But, Tobias liked that about her.

At the end of the second day, after making dinner, Tobias sat down to watch tv with Mirko. And he found out that she likes slapstick comedies. Like, roaring out loud laughter when it comes to slapstick comedy. So, he decided to show her some slapstick comedy from before the Quirk Era, the Three Stooges, and suffice it to say she loved it, she was practically rolling around on the floor.

Now in bed, Tobias was trying to fall asleep.

'Nothing's happened so far. It's kinda disappointing. Oh well, peace and tranquility aren't all that bad.'
