“Cancer…” Aaron looked up at the tree’s canopy. He knew what kind of life he had led, yet he hadn’t expected it to come this far. He had always denied it, yet it looked like the truth had finally caught up.
What the hell am I doing in some fantasy world with skills and potions when I should be laying in a hospital bed, dying slowly.
“Come on then Aaron, let’s get back to the village, haven’t been there fer like a week, so I don’t have enough rations for the both of us” Stanislaw harrumphed. “Let’s go.”
It hit him. Not all is lost, my saviour is standing right here in front of me, he clearly wants to help me. If he does take me to his village I can get a job and buy potions. Once he had finished both of the potions his health had clearly gone over it’s cap, yet, YET, it did not show up in the numbers.
Aaron frowned. All this potion mumbo jumbo was not making a lot of sense right now, but he did notice this. When it had gone over the cap, his body had started experiencing something akin to the painkillers hitting in. He looked at his status again.
Condition Modifiers:
Overhealth
That was new.
Overhealth

Wow, this, this is suddenly looking to be much more doable, I can live with this. It will be just like how people spend money on pills to make themselves feel better. It will be hard to save money but I’ll live, Ill be alive.
New-found vigour filled Aaron as he answered back to Stanislaw with a nod of confirmation. “Let’s go”
--
The weirdly dressed Aaron was making Stanislaw uneasy, not only due to the fact that his sunken eye’s burned with a crazy fire, but also due to the fascination he show even when looking at something like the Bloomflower.
After he had harvested the wolf of it’s crystals, pelt and meat the young undea- human had finished fashioning the scraps of his shirt into a sorry combination of a sack and a satchel. As they had started walking he had asked him a question in his croaky voice.
“What does a Bloomflower look like?”
Stanislaw didn’t bother answering and just pointed at the edge of the clearing that was littered with them. Their crimson petals in clear contrast to the green grass below them.
--
So this is my salvation. Thought Aaron as he made his way over the the splattering of Bloomflowers st the edge of the clearing where his second life had begun. Thirteen. Aaron counted up. All of these were going to come with him. Even though Stanislaw had valued them atrociously low for what they could be made into. They. Still. Had. Value.
Aaron had nothing with him at the moment, other than his boxers, what was left of his trousers and a half finished pack of cigs.
Yes, cigarettes.
When he had looked at his status his fears had only been confirmed, the withdrawals were coming, and he didn’t have much to stop them with.
The strategy he had devised for himself was to make the most of what small amount of nicotine he had left. He was currently looking at about five days of a safety net before he run out of cigs and the withdrawals started. Aaron wasn’t too worried about alcohol as Stanislaw had smelled of of it.
I have 5 days, that’s 2 a day, one in the morning, and one before I sleep so that I can fall asleep.
I think I’ll be able to make it.
Nah I’ll make it.
