Prologue - The Sleeping Princess

In a chilly evening, countless of small white snow was falling from the clear dark sky, decorated by a big full moon and a lot of sparkling stars. Weak brisk wind flowed, making it dance with less predictable rhythm. The street lamps, which had been designed along the either side of the bridge to cross above the lonely toll road, were casting some kind of warm and peaceful light, but still could do nothing to reduce even the slightest of current freezing temperature nor atmosphere. The road was so quiet, not even a car had passed for quite some time. It was almost like an abandoned city. Kind of strange really to think of just how busy this city was on the daytime. Maybe it was simply because the time was already really-really late.

On the right-side walk to the bridge, a figure emerged from the shadow of the big trees that couldn’t be reached by neither the artificial nor natural light. A young woman, barely advanced by holding on support to the trunks before switching onto the bridge’s grip, was still continuing her heavy stride.

How beautiful and romantic it was, the picture of the environment and atmosphere that was being presented right now. But the young woman didn’t seem to have the mood to appreciate it. She wasn’t in her best physical condition. At least judging from the way she was strolling around, with that uneven gait while almost out of breath already, and bandages on her forehead and left ankle. Who knows? There might be more hidden inside her clothes.

Maybe a normal people would think, she should just rest in her house or get some check-up in a nearby clinic. But in the very fact, she was from the hospital. Wearing a distinguishable white patient attire, covered by a thick and warm looking deep blue jacket from her shoulder down even though it shouldn’t be the current freeze that was tormenting her the most. Clearly, she was in a hurry for something that was really the most important for her.

“I must get …,” murmured the silky black-haired female unfinished to herself while breathing forcefully and still persisting herself to cross the long bridge.

“… to the mansion. ….”

Being too weak to speak anymore. Even though she knew nobody would have ever heard. She continued inside. Maybe just for her own self-satisfactory.

That thing must … still be there. … It wouldn’t be burned. … They must have saved it. … I am sure of it. … They must have … already expected that … for me … to reveal … the whole truth ….

After a few more struggling steps with both hands grasping quiveringly on the icy metal grip, she suddenly stopped in the middle of the bridge. Her head hurt. She held it immediately with her left hand. An unbearable expression was shown on her doll-like face as she knelt down unwillingly in pain.

I can’t stop here. … now must ….

Even against her critical condition, she still tried to stand up and move forward again with an even thicker steamy gasp. But just after three weak steps, she could muster no strength anymore to keep her body continuing her selfish objective. Furthermore, she couldn’t even manage to stand any longer. She collapsed onto the bridge’s biting snow covered ground just like the other snowflakes. An exclusive beautiful sound of chimes could be heard from her also white hair accessories.

“… before that … Biannca ….”

This disobedient young woman really had forced herself too hard for coming out in such a bad condition and freezing weather. The snow was still descending gently from the cloudless evening sky, and the street lamps were still illuminating the bridge in a unique parallel fashion way. Dreamy atmosphere layered by the slow motion of falling snow, had made the unconscious lady looked just like a sleeping princess in some fairy stories. Waiting for someone, a young prince who would awaken her.

Of course, that someone would somehow appear. But could she last long enough for this someone? Slowly but surely, the snow continued to bury her bit by bit, frozen on the location that could be called as an out in the open one. Anybody could have discovered her without any effort on the busy daytime. But now, it really was just too quiet and cold.
