A flash of understanding pass through the man's eyes. The man ducked under the bar.
Just then, two arrows burst through the glass window, and Kieran jumped over the counter and join the man.
"You're getting targeted?" the bartender asked, tapping on his phone.
"Ehh," the boy began, "It goes both ways" He took a peek out of the bar top. The second he did, three arrows shot at him, and he immediately ducked under the bar once again, "Can you be any faster?"
The bartender shot him a glare, still tapping something on his phone, "The wi-fi connection here is terrible," the man said, "What do you want me to do?"
"Well if this was any other person, they're probably be dead by now!"
"Well for one you're not dead," the bartender said, "And for another they're usually not getting hunted by a guy who can shoot their arrows faster than someone who could shoot bullets."
"Fine," the boy gritted out, "what are you even planning on doing?"
"You'll see," the man looked at the boy for a moment, "Stand up."
"Wait, what?!" the boy exclaimed, "I'm going to get shot!"
"Well you haven't gotten shot on your way running to the bar, so you'll be fine. And I need some bait as well."
"Why me?!"
"Cuz your the only one here."
"B-"
"Just stand up."
The boy sighed, and sprang up. Arrows began shooting again, through the window. There was only one window, so all the arrows was coming from over there. He dodged around, "So what are you planning to do?" the boy asked again.
"Just wait until the man comes in."
"YOU WANT HIM TO COME IN?!"
"We-" the man couldn't finish his sentence before a guy shot through the door.
Kieran was staring at no other than Archer Toram.
The agent had bright blue hair that reached to the end of head, along with red piercing eyes. He wore a simple, white shirt with no ties. His pants were a navy blue, along with dull boots. His bow was slung over his shoulder, along with dozen and dozen of arrows. He currently was holding a pair of dagger, and at guess what? Kieran. What a surprise.
So what does he do? Well, simple, he says, "Hey, bro, calm down."
The man kept walking up to him, and Kieran reached his hand to one one of his swords.
"This would be a good time right about now," the boy muttered.
Suddenly, out of the blue, bullets began shooting everywhere. It seemed random if you didn't know where they were coming from, but Kieran knew. Ten angels statues were all actual guns, all remotely controlled by the bartender.
Angel Shot.
Kieran grinned, watching a small flash of surprise in the red-eyed man's face. It disappeared after a second, but it was enough for the teen vigilant. It disappeared after a second, but it was enough for the teen vigilant. He retracted the blue-bladed sword, as a bullet nearly hits his right ear. With a large swing, he swung the sword to Archer's throat...
...and met something as hard as metal.
Silver eyes met red for a moment before buzz went through his sword. Then a spark. Then lightning. The men fell to the floor, unconscious.
His sword was crackling with pure lightning.
"Hey Cassie," the boy said quietly, "why didn't you tell me my swords are literal Percy Jackson."
"Technically, Percy Jackson's controls water, your sword control is over lightning. And I wanted it to be a surprise."
"So now I have two pair of swords that are unbreakable and is also can conduct lightning?"
"The red one is fire."
"WhAt."
"Hey, you were going to die," the girl said, "might as well give you cool swords. Speaking of which, is the guy dead?"
"No. Try to cut his head off, but it was harder than my sword..." Kieran trailed off, "The lightning was the one to knock him unconscious."
"Wow."
"Yeah, this guy is really weird," Kieran squatted down to study the man, "Should I try stabbing him now?"
"Why not? Try one of your regular knives this time."
He took one of his knives out and tried to stabbed the man. The blade snapped in half.
"Huh," the girl muttered, "that's pretty creepy."
"Should I try electrocuting him to death this time?"
"Nah," Cassie said, "I want to study him."
"My mission, Cassie, my mission. Don't need my uncle killing me anytime soon."
"Kieran," the girl said seriously, "I don't think you can kill him. If you can't cut his head off with the strongest metal in the world, I don't think you can zap him to death. Besides, I need to upgrade you sword. It doesn't have enough voltage power anyway."
"Fine, I'll bring him in. Though my mission was to assassinate him, not capture."
If you come across this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.
"You can always lie to your uncle. He won't know the difference once he's checks the government feed. Plus, it never said when you had to kill him."
"The Blaze, I had to kill Archer at the Blaze."
"Well you're hardly at the Blaze now, are you?"
Kieran grumbled, "Fine," he said again, "Now go do something else, I'll meet you in your lab."
"C-yah!"
He turned to the unconscious man on the floor. He was around his late twenties or early thirties. He was a lot taller than Kieran, and he grimaced. This would me fun to deal with.
The teen vigilant began to drag Archer down the bar to H.Q. when he was stopped by the bartender. "I just saved your life," the man said, "You owe me something."
Kieran raised an eyebrow, "And what do you want?"
"Better Wi-Fi."
Kieran rolled his eyes and tossed the man a black card, "Uncle's credit card." he muttered, "Have fun."
The bartender grinned, "And what if I buy more than just wi-fi?"
Kieran grinned, "I wouldn't tell anyone."
He dragged the blue-haired man onto the motorcycle, a rode away into the night, the world's best spy unconscious on the back of his ride.
Life really had a weird way of playing with you, didn't it.

"So what are you going to do? Kieran asked the technician, who was studying the blued-hair man, "I mean, I'm pretty sure you can't keep him in a regular jail"
"Ehh, I can whip something easily," the girl waved off nonchalantly.
"Sure," the boy grinned, "If he escapes and kills you in the middle of the night, it's not my fault."
"So you're going to lie to your uncle?"
"I mean, I can't kill him can I?"
"I mean, we could try drowning him?"
"You try that, I need to talk to my uncle."
"Don't die?"
"Couldn't be worst than being murdered by Archer."
He really didn't know what he was going to getting into after that, did he?

"So you somehow managed to kill Archer Toram," the man asked suspiciously.
"That was my mission wasn't it?" the boys asked sarcastically, "I wouldn't be standing here if I didn't."
"Do you have any proof," Bond ask suspiciously, "Decapitated head or anything?"
"I have a lock of hair," the boy said, he pulled out a lock of blue hair, "Cut it off his head."
"I'm getting kidnapping vibes from this," the man raised his eyebrow, "Are you sure you actually killed him?"
"You watch to much movies Uncle," the boy said lazily, "so unless you want me to bring the ashes of his burnt body, then I got nothing." He
The man shooked his head, "Nah, I'm good. I have no idea what you want to do with a guy like that anyway if he was even alive." He stared at Kieran's eye, and the boy stopped himself from flinching, "On another note, I'm assigning you to another mission."
"Another?"
"Another," the man confirmed, "and since you did so well on your first Fireheart mission..."
The boy backed away, "Bond..." the boy asked, unsure, he had just came back from a near death, "Not another Fireheart ranked mission is it?"
"Oh no," the boy breathed a sigh of relief, "No, I want you to do something else." His uncle passed him another file, not un-similiar to the previous mission's file. This one was black though, and it gave him slightly ominous vibes. He opened it up, pulling a small paper from the folder.
Exitium Ultimi Cineres was on the top of the paper. Under it, there was a bunch of scientist names and the experiments. He didn't know any of the scientist's names, but the experiments...
"Uncle," the teen asked carefully, "Some of these names are from the government experiments, or at least have some kind of connection to them."
The man clapped his hands, "Exactly," the man smiled at him, "You haven't lost your touch Kieran. Your task this time is to find out what the next government's experiments is."
The boy look at his uncle, confused, "Doesn't the Oculus find out about those? It usually isn't that hard for them."
"Ah," his uncle wagged his finger, "the thing is, my successor, is that they couldn't find a single thing about what the government been up to for the past few months. It's lock tight, the only thing we could find out is that they're searching around for healthy teens, and you know what that means."
Puzzle pieces clicked in his head, "You want me," the boy said, horrified, "to infiltrate the government by becoming their test animal."
"That's about it."
"No," the boy shook his head violently, "No! Never! I'm not becoming the government's little, groomed pet!"
"Well," the man said dangerously, "We can't have that can we? You fit the description perfectly. C'mon kid, just think about it as repaying the mafia. It's not even an hard job, I'm sure our... Practices were easier anyway. "
Because your only use to us is being our toy.
Not even a good one at that.
Still, he didn't wanted to become the government's torture toy...
Why me, why me, why always me.
Why can't it-
The boy shook his head more, "No..." he whimpered, his facade of calm and cockiness completely gone now. "No, no, no, no, NO!"
His uncle cocked his head, "Well, sadly, you don't have a part in this decision. I just had to tell you before we get this," he says, and watching Kieran's every move. Quick as a snake, he pulled out a gun, pointing it to the boy's pale forehead, "And don't even think of running away, else a bullet might or might not end up in your skull," the man said, grinning.
Kieran went completely silent. It wasn't the first time a gun had been pointed at his head. Actually, it was a common occurrence in the dark streets of a dead city.
It wasn't even the first time his uncle pulled that 'trick' either.
Still, it scared him to the bone to have the person who raised you since you were a child threaten your life.
Not like his dear uncle did it very well though.
What should I do? Become the government's experiment? Get shot in the head?
Honestly, I'm going to die in the government's hands anyway, just a more painful, torturous one.
The gun to the forehead probably was the better choice, but...
He still had things he needed to do. Even if he didn't really wanted to...
And Cassie. She would do better off without him, but there was still a murderous agent at her house. He needed to get him off her hands before she got hurt because of his troubles.
He raised his hands to the air, surrendering, "Ok," he whispered hoarsely, "I'll do it."
His uncle smiled his soft smile that always made Kieran sick in the stomach, "Good choice, boy, " he says, "You got a week, do what you can to get ready. And then..." Bond waved his hands wildly, as if that explained everything, "Well anyways, you're dismissed." He walked over to the boy, giving him a pat on the shoulders, before walking out of his study.
Kieran just stood there for a moment, processing everything that just happened. He just signed up to be experimented on. He just signed up to be a rat to the government.
What great fun.
Maybe he should've gotten murdered by Archer after all.
Well, he could always just run away when his uncle is not looking. The man can't have a gun pointed at his head 24/7, no matter how many hired-guns and grunts he had.
Or could he?
Anyway, he can just run away. Book a trip across the world.
Japan sounded nice.

Kieran decided to go to sleep before he visited Cassie again.
What? He was tired, and his best friend could handle herself just fine.
Though he did need to visit her sometime soon.
He needed to talk to Archer.
But first, sleep.
