Jason opened his eyes and was greeted by the sight of a black wall. He stood up and turned around to see that he was in a dark room with no exits, with the only source of light coming from a large screen covering one of the walls. He approached it and realized the screen was showing someone’s point of view. A voice boomed throughout the room Jason was in.
“You shall now be known as Hydrexyl. Rise, Hydrexl. Rise before your new master, Elaxus, Emperor of the Forlorn!”
Jason assumed the person whose eyes he was looking through was Hydrexyl. This person named Hydrexyl rose to look at whoever had spoken, and Jason saw the stranger who had kidnapped him. Now that he could get a better look at him, he noticed Elaxus had dark red skin, two black horns coming out of his forehead, and sharp, black, nails that looked like they could cut through stone. The robes he wore outlined the muscles underneath.
Jason was confused, but then he froze. He saw Hydrexyl’s reflection off the obsidian throne Elaxus was sitting on. There were some changes, but there was no doubt. He was looking at his own body. He was Hydrexyl.
“Wh....What’s going on?”
Elaxus’s voice boomed once again. “Welcome, Hydrexyl. Is this body to your liking?”
Hydrexyl responded in Jason’s voice. “Yes, your highness. I am honored to have been given the opportunity to serve you.”
Jason could barely control his anger. “Like hell it’s to your liking! Give me back my body!” Jason’s anger finally burst out and he punched the screen with everything he had. But to his dismay, it didn’t do anything. “DAMMIT!”
Elaxus’s spell created a consciousness named Hydrexyl and put it in control of Jason’s body. This essentially forced Jason’s consciousness into a recess of his mind where he can only watch what is happening, unable to interact with anything.
-Back in the throne room
“Show me your status, Hydrexyl. Perhaps I’ll find out what’s special about you”
“Status!”

Elaxus scrolled through Hydrexyl’s window, stopping at the aether infinity. “How interesting….I’ve been alive for thousands of years and even I’ve never heard of the aether element. I doubt anyone else on this planet will know either, so you will be on your own in figuring out what it is.”
Hydrexyl nodded in response. “Sir, may I ask a question?”
“What is it.”
“Please forgive my ignorance, but what exactly are the Forlorn?”
The emperor sat back in his throne, sighing, as he recalled old memories. “The Forlorn are the first creatures to ever roam this planet. We were created thousands of years ago, when mana in the air was much denser. Gifted with better control over mana, we have a superior mana pool and mana regeneration compared to other species. This is also why the Forlorn share no common physical characteristics. Mana has mutated our bodies in different ways.
We watched the birth of the first elves, humans, dwarves, and countless other species, staying out of their petty squabbles. One day, a group of humans came into our territory looking for resources and treasures. We cast them out, but they returned with a small army. They payed no heed to our warnings so in the end we destroyed them. The humans used this opportunity to convince the other races that we were dangerous, and blinded them with promises of riches in our lands. They formed a coalition to subjugate us, but after coming to a stalemate for months, the other races opted to sealing us in a different dimension(Think of like a phantom zone from Superman). Perhaps in the end they were just afraid of our power. Or maybe even jealous. Whatever the case, it doesn’t matter. We were stuck in that damn prison for 3000 years, unable to do anything, until the seal weakened enough for us to escape.
Before we were trapped, we were just spectators, staying out of the other races’ way. But make no mistake.”
Elaxus slammed his fist on his armrest.
“We are back, and we will have our revenge. We will slaughter them all and fill the oceans with their blood. We will take back this planet that was originally ours.”

That's all the chapters I had already written. They seemed a good length when I was writing them, but after posting them on RR I realized they're pretty short. So I'm gonna work on making future chapters longer, and from now on Hydrexyl's finally going to start training and learning magic. I'll also talk about what happened to the king and the heroes after they warped away.
