I do thank those who actually want to read my story and want faster updates, but sadly I don't write as fast as others so I lose the will to write often. The story is sort of made up as I go along trying to make everything canon, which is weird since it's made up as I go. The story world is actually already generated by some random generator I used online, so I didn't have to think of how the world looked like. I've been reading comments saying that having a proofreader improves the time it takes to write, I'm seriously doubting that if I had one this would be any faster since I'll probably still take forever to write one sentence. Anyways if someone wants to proofread my story send me a message.
Spiral looked out the window and saw that it was already dark outside, he had talked with Magnus longer then he thought he had. He pondered starting his journey into the subject of sigils this moment, but opted not to since talking with Magnus actually tired him out quite a bit.
He sat there wondering what his friends were doing now in Fantasy Road, maybe they were off fighting a heard zombies or doing some epic quest off in some city faraway. He hadn't had the time to catch up on what had occurred over the past 1 and ¼ months.
All he remembered was his friends messaging him good luck after trying to convince him to stop reading the Index, yet even that was hazy in his memory. He also recalled getting told how it would be difficult to party at this point with the level difference and all, but Spiral knew it would be near impossible to even attempt to catch up in levels at this point. There was also the fact that he still had a lot more research he needed to accomplish, and if he left to go adventuring now he would only delay the time needed to learn the subjects he required to achieve his goal. He Pondered what they were doing and just for the sake of doing it he attempted to start a chat with his friends.
“Call Kira, DarkMerc, YamiUsagi, YOLOSWAG” (Spiral)
Spiral sat there hearing a ringing sound wondering if anyone would answer his call, but after about 10 seconds the ringings stop. Spiral sat there wondering why everyone rejected his call, but right as he was about to feel sort of lonely he heard a ringing sound. He instantly answered the call and heard the voices of his friends.
“Whats Up Tomo” (YOLOSWAG)
“Whats Up Guys!” (Spiral)
“Whats Up John, haven't heard from you in awhile” (Kira)
“Dude you been ignoring our calls for hecka long” (YamiUsagi)
“Dude what you been doing man?” (DarkMerc)
“What I've been ignoring calls?” (Spiral)
“Yea? We called you hecka times awhile back but we got ignored so we stopped calling you”(YamiUsagi)
“I see, sorry didn't notice... was sorta reading...” (Spiral)
“Well whatever, anyways did you get any levels the past month?” (YamiUsagi)
“Nope still level 1” (Spiral)
“The Fuck?” (DarkMerc)
“Seriously, How is this possible?” (Kira)
“I Hope you had some epic passive stat gain for not leveling like this” (YOLOSWAG)
“I think I got a decent amount of passive stat gain” (Spiral)
“I see, so are you still in the library reading it up?” (YOLOSWAG)
“YUP, Still in library Reading it UP” (Spiral)
“....” (DarkMerc, Kira, YOLOSWAG, YamiUsagi)
“Why the long silence?” (Spiral)
“Don't know why you studying in a game man” (YOLOSWAG)
“It's not studying... I think... wait... O yea...” (Spiral)
“Yea, so did you get a class at least?” (YOLOSWAG)
“YEA, Behold I am the researcher class!” (Spiral)
“The Fuck? That exist?” (DarkMerc)
“YUP” (Spiral)
“I see that makes more sense now” (YamiUsagi)
“So what does your class do exactly?” (Kira)
“I can get any skill as long as I know enough about it!” (Spiral)
“What the... that sounds OP” (Kira)
“Yea man its hecka kool! except I need to read for weeks to improve my skills probably...” (Spiral)
“....” (DarkMerc, Kira, YOLOSWAG, YamiUsagi)
“Late game class man, except I wonder do you even have a class advancement” (YOLOSWAG)
“Wait there is class advancement? I've never heard of this...” (Spiral)
“Well the games only been out for a little over a month, and someone's been held up in a library without much information about whats going on in the game” (YOLOSWAG)
“...” (Spiral)
“Yea, so the simple classes like swordsman, archer, and whatever apparently have class advancements” (YOLOSWAG)
“O thats cool, so did any of you guys get your class advancement?” (Spiral)
“Nope none of us have taken an advancement yes, we've been hoping for some special class if possible” (YOLOSWAG)
“I see, so what is everyone's class then?” (Spiral)
“I'm a survivalist” (YamiUsagi)
“I'm a swordsman” (DarkMerc)
“I'm an archer” (Kira)
“I'm an explorer” (YOLOSWAG)
“I see, interesting so what level are you guys now?” (Spiral)
“We are all about 40ish, with decent passive stat gain” (YOLOSWAG)
“So what are you guys doing now?” (Spiral)
“We are sorta on a quest to slay some boss mob, got to go seems like the party is moving ahead” (YOLOSWAG)
“Alright see you guys” (Spiral)
“Later” (DarkMerc, Kira, YOLOSWAG, YamiUsagi)
Spiral sat there for awhile after the chat ended, since he felt quite weird after not talking to them for sometime. He knew he wasn't going to join them on their adventuring any time soon, or in the near future making him feel quite lonely. He wondered what would of happened if he didn't start reading the Index for awhile, but alas he knew it didn't matter. He was here and he had all the resources or most of them to achieve his goal and that was more then he could of possibly ask for. He then proceeded to lay on the bed and closed his eyes waiting for tomorrow to come.
Spiral opens his eyes the next morning feeling refreshed, and then proceeds to head towards the cafeteria. Since Spiral was extra early today he saw Tracy along with the other kitchen staff setting up breakfast. He sat around where Tracy was setting up for breakfast and chatted with her about what had happened recently, and then afterwards went back to his room.
Spiral arrived at his desk and then began to start looking up books that had to do with magic symbols, and not to his surprise it was a search that was way too vague. There were more then 10,000 books that had something to do with magic symbols in them, which made it a subject that could potently span actual years in real life if he did not shorten his search.
Spiral knew in most fantasies that they used magic symbols in summoning and casting, while some used it in enchanting and alchemy. He had to first choose one of these subjects and hope that it leads him on some insightful breakthrough, otherwise this was going to take a very long while to accomplish. He also thought about possibly finding a professional in one of the subjects, but from what he had deduced things like profession secrets weren't going to come without some sort of cost. He could have potentially became some sort of apprentice for like an enchanter, and slaved away days or even months trying to learn said secrets but would that have been truly the faster path? He believed it would have been probably harder to convince a person to teach him what he wanted to know than a book since books didn't need convincing.
Spiral picked summoning as the subject he would first look into, because he knew it wouldn't take all that long for him to encounter some sort of summon circle that he could try and study. He narrowed his search to magic symbols on summoning and the results were about a little more then 700, which was actually still too many. He refined the search to also include beginner and the number dropped to about 50, which to him was good place to start.
Spiral called the first book with the Index skill, and began reading and writing down notes that he could use for his research into summoning circles. This lasted for about a week in game, with Spiral logging in and out at night to do what he needed to do in real life. He managed to finish about 15 books, but the more he read the more things seemed weird to him. The summoning circles used for summoning spirits in many of the books were different yet did almost the same thing, which made it seem like these summoning circles didn't have any predetermined arrangements. There were apparently summoning circles that had higher odds of summoning the element of your choice, but by how much it varies between books and circles. This was weird to him since the circles mentioned could be as large as a twin size bed, to as large as half a basketball court. The most silliest thing was that neither just the arrangement or size could truly determine what you would summon, but only increase the odds of summoning something of either greater strength or of a certain element.
Spiral concluded from all this that there was either some sort of language being used that could be identified on these circles that made up some sort of spell, or random arrangements of characters in some random order could summon stuff. The latter was probably not very realistic for a fantasy world as detailed as this, so it's either he was totally crazy or he was onto something. He then started to match the characters on the circles with other circles and found that there were two different types of characters used on the circles. This meant that were actually two different possible languages to summon spirits, and who ever made these circles either knew that language or did many many tests to get it right, which he hope was the former.
Spiral now had two different set of characters or languages he could study, and truth be said one too many. He wasn't going to learn two languages simultaneously since first that was stupid and second he wasn't that smart. He knew that one who tries to take more then he could handle will lose whatever he took. He picked the character set that looked better in his eyes, since pondering over which to learn was differently a waste of time.
Spiral began to sort out which circles did what in that character set, and after about 4 days in game he manged to sort out the 50 books. He marked down which circle was of the chosen character set and where it was located in which book and what the book said it did. He did this for all 50 books, and eventually compiled a large list of summoning circles for that specific character set. By now, or after 4 days of looking out for that specific character set he could vaguely recognize the characters in it. He then spent 3 more in game days trying to write out all the characters found in that character set, and eventually compiled 68 different characters which he hoped was right since some characters looked more like some sort of period from the English language then anything.
If you spot this narrative on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
It was now time for Spiral to try and locate a language book pertaining to this specific character set, and he had no clues other then the character set in front of him. He used his trusty Index skill to look up books pertaining to ancient languages and found about a 1100 of them, which was more then he wanted there to be.
It was now or never, and after spending a week in game doing nothing but extracting characters from a language and getting use to reading random scribbles he wasn't going to stop now. He called the first book on the list and began to flip pages to see if it had anything to do with the character set he had extracted. He spent a whole month in real life or 4 months in game skimming for possible leads and when he found one he read through the entire book trying to figure out how to read and write in the language. Spiral eventually compiled a rough sketch of a dictionary for the language, which was written with sweat and blood in the metaphorical sense.
Many time during the beginning of the ordeal he questioned himself why in the world was he doing this and not outside blowing up horned rabbits or something, but instead he opted to move forward to reach his original goal in this game. He contacted his friends once in awhile when he needed to take a break, and through the conversations he knew that they still were looking for a better class advancement. It seemed that once you took your second advancement very few players managed to obtain a third advancement, and those that did said that it was only an improvement from the second class. That meant that the second class mattered a lot if you wanted something “super special awesome”. (TL note: refer to Yu-Gi-Oh the Abridged Series) They were of course very high level while Spiral was still level 1, the difference reached a staggering number of over 100. Worst of all in Fantasy Road there was no actual level limit, but truth be said leveling was getting more and more difficult his friends told him. He had yet to actually enter a real fight so all he could do was wonder how truly difficult it was to level from fighting and doing quests.
Not that it truly mattered to him, since the passive stats he had gained from researching would probably allow him to achieve his goal even if it might be a little unorthodox. It was now time for the moment of truth, just like how he gained Mana Analysis through titling his last book, he hoped that titling this rough sketch of a dictionary would grant him some sort of skill to aid in his endeavors. He then took a blank piece of paper and wrote on it “Complied Information on the Lost Language of Akahake”. Why did Spiral call the language Akahake? It was because during the time he was looking through the long line of books he had read several books calling the character set before him Akahake.
At that moment he had heard the joyous “ding” sound for the system alert. Spiral then hopefully called out for the system to show him his new skill.
“New Skills” (Spiral)
New Skill Aquired:Language of Akahake
Allows the user to translate between Akahake and the system selected language. The user is also allowed to select Akahake as the system selected language. Anything that can not be translated due to skill mastery will be left in it's original form.
Due to the user acquiring this skill through understanding and compiling a large amount of remaining information about the language of Akahake this skill will start at Expert – 2
Spiral stared at his new skill with a big smile on his face, it had been quite a long time since he felt so happy for completing a task he set out to do. Not only was his time entirely not wasted, but was awarded with a skill the system deemed worthy for the effort he put in. In the back of Spiral's mind he feared that he would gain absolutely nothing for compiling the rough dictionary in front of him, and that fear leaving him was very refreshing.
Spiral began to try out his new skill by changing the system selected language, which he didn't even know was possible. He tried changing the system selected language to that of Japanese, since he knew at least a little bit of it for being born part Japanese. His actual comprehension of the Japanese language was actually worst then his comprehension of Akahake, since he had spent 4 months in game studying Akahake but had rarely used Japanese in real life.
“Change system selected language to Japanese” (Spiral)
Special sentence along with intent confirmed. Do you want to change the system selected language to Japanese?
Warning this option will turn all system features to Japanese
“Yes?” (Spiral)
Spiral looked at the books he used for his research before him and they had all turned from English into Japanese, and now he could barely even read the first sentence in them. Though all the books from the library became Japanese the rough draft of his dictionary was still English, which made Spiral realize what changing the system selected language did. He could tell that everything that he took for granted being English could have also been any of the possible system selected languages. He then started to panic a little, since he didn't know the Japanese for “Change system selected language to English.” He now hoped for the love of his sanity he could change the system back to English, and so he tried using English to make the system selected language back to English.

Spiral had no clue what the system message in front of him said, but he hoped that it was exactly the same message he got when he turned everything Japanese.
“Yes?” (Spiral)
The books before had all reverted back to being written in English, which caused Spiral to sigh in relief. If that didn't work he would have had to somehow figure out how to change the system selected language in Japanese, which caused Spiral to shiver with fear. Spiral now felt very grateful to whoever thought about the feature of changing the system selected language to be able to recognize every language.
Now after shaking off the testing a feature of the game he didn't know existed it was now time to actually test out his new skill. He definitely wasn't going to turn the system selected language into Akahake, since doing so would make everything impossibly hard to understand. Instead if Spiral guessed right then the command to translate a language into another was “translate”. He held the closest book that was on the table and tested out his guess.
“Translate to Akahake” (Spiral)
The moment he finished his sentence another system box appeared next to page he was looking at, but on it was text in Akahake. He stared at the other page and the system box then was next to that page along with its Akahake translation. He flipped through more pages to see the box transition from page to page, but he noticed that certain words were not translated into Akahake. Those words were written still in English on the system box, which Spiral thought probably were the words his skill didn't translate due to it's mastery. Though there were words the skill didn't translate he could probably use educated guesses now to try and decipher what it meant, since the skill allowed for the majority of the words he was looking at to be translated.
Spiral was now getting excited about the system assisted Akahake to English, which was going to save him an enormous amount of time compared to what he previously did. He looked at his own rough draft of an dictionary for Akahake and tried translating the Akahake text in it to English.
“Translate to English” (Spiral)
To his excitement the system box now showed English instead of Akahake, and as he looked through his own work he noticed that not everything was actually translated well. Things like he though was “fire spirit” in Akahake was actual “governor of fire” and other things that he though was such wasn't such. This made Spiral feel a little down, since he took some pride in his rough dictionary that took 4 months in game to create.
In all honesty he thought to himself, since the language was definitely lost before he tried to compile the rough dictionary and it was a marvelous feat to even be this close. He believed the system granted him Expert [2] in the language for his effort and for ending up being so close to the actual meaning. Spiral now expected that if he tried to identify the missing words that weren't translated by “translate” then he could probably increase the mastery of the skill. He expected that he would eventually learn them as he encountered them, but he didn't believe it was of great importance since he noticed that “translate” was already able to translate English to Akahake almost entirely.
Spiral put down his rough draft, and then looked at some random beginner magic circle written on his notes. He retrieved the book with Index and then flipped to the page it was suppose to be located on and with “translate” he was able to read all of it in English.
The circle consisted of a ring with two different chants written on both circles, and inside that ring was drawn an eye with another sentence overlaying it. The outer ring read “I BESEECH THE GOVERNORS OF ALL ELEMENTS TO LISTEN TO MY PLEA” while the inner ring read “fire water wind ice lighting earth light dark void”. The overlaying sentence on top of the eye read “I call upon you from the depths of chaos and appear before me in your magnificent form, regardless of time or distance let nothing stand between us as I request the ancient pact to be fulfilled”. Spiral wasn't really sure what it the world the summoning circle was talking about, but whatever it was it was probably something important enough to allow a person to summon spirits with it.
Spiral then went over a multitude of different summoning circles, and to his surprise the sentences in the middles varied greatly, while the first circle and second circle has less variance. This wasn't to say that the first and second ring didn't vary a lot they usually varied from being sentences to just words, but the inner writing had varying pictures to paragraphs of different places requesting assistance or upholding a pact of some sort.
As Spiral read more and more summoning circles he also ran into a few words that “translate” couldn't translate so he wrote it down as well as the context it was used in for research later. After getting the gist of how the summoning circles were written he heard the familiar sound of a system alert.
“New Skills” (Spiral)
New Skill Aquired:Ancient Akahake Summoning
Allows the user to summon spirits to the physical realm by reciting the summoning in the language of Akahake.
Mana Cost: varies depending on chant, and location
For Being able to comprehend Akahake summoning circles as well as being able to speak the lost language of Akahake you will be given the skill at Beginner – 1
Spiral was speechless for a moment reading his new skill, since he didn't expect that understanding what summoning circles had written on them would be a prerequisite for a skill such as this. The language of Akahake was indeed lost as the system message reconfirmed his guess, but for it also to be a prerequisite for such a skill was indeed something that he had hoped for after spending 4+ months in game learning.
Spiral got up out of his chair and then proceeded to look out the window, and not to his surprise it was already night. He then went and sat on his bed and logged out of the game.
John got out of his capsule, and then after a quick night snack he brushed his teeth, flossed and got ready to go to sleep. He was going to do something he hadn't been doing for awhile, which was to actually get a well deserved full night's rest.
