The abilities. Pt 1.

Remember, any power akin to divinity, or omniscience or any all powerful, all knowing power (such as probability manipulation etc...) is banned in accordance with the second rule. I went down a different route however, and instead pondered how I would rule the planet using "side" wishes. Ones that evaded the rules to bring about almost the same result. And now, finally we get to the story.

This is partially a rant, Partially a recap and Partially the start of the story:

When the regular person is asked "If you had three wishes, what would they be?" Most reply with "A good job; an easy life; a nice car; or a spot in the college of my choice." (Yes I actually asked people and these were the answers I received... Disappointing arnt they?)

These answers baffled me, and they opened my eyes. They opened my eyes to how small thinking and uncreative most of mankind was. I ended up thinking that people with "small" wishes, such as the "nice car" or "good job" wishes did not, in fact, deserve those three wishes to begin with.

These people would SQUANDER three wishes. Three wishes which could be used on anything, even changing the fabric of the universe itself. These people however, would remain content to use them on things which were obtainable through work that they just didn't WANT to do. Throughout this throughout process I came to realize, that three wishes should not, and could not, go to people who would simply wish for an an easier life. Instead the wishes should go to the ones who understand the implications of the opportunity to change the universe, to change the very fabric of space and time...with the right wording.

Imagine that a power such as this falls into your hands, you could become a god, or a time traveler. but instead of these things, people wish for a FUCKING CAR!!! I ask you this, choose between being a god, or having a nice car. Which answer would you choose? Surprisingly enough most of the people I asked said that they wanted the car. Baffled once more at their stupidity I asked, "Why?" Almost afraid to hear the answer. They almost unanimously replied that they "did not want that much power"

Whatever happened to ambition or greed?

Seeing as how most of my race, which I have come into contact with, seems to misunderstand what being omnipotent really means, I took it upon myself to acquire three wishes and show them the power of forward and rational thinking, and the ability to understand the implications of a choice.

The human race as a whole, tends to forget those who are not truly diabolical and those who are not kings rules presidents, tyrants or leaders of powerful entities in general. This "car" that you chose, would not get you remembered in history, no not you at all. With time you will fade, along with every other person in existence.

This content has been misappropriated from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.

Remembered as the nobodies of the past, the non ambitious ones who just lived a normal life.

"I have my family" most say when I tell them that. To them I ask, yes, you do... And how long will they last, how long will your memory remain important to them? A year? Two years? Five years of mourning? It sounds heartless but in reality, how far back do we mourn or celebrate death? At best it turns out to be one or two generations before the persons name is forgotten in the family records, never to be brought up as a person again, only to be remembered as the plot device in history that got that person to that particular place in time.

As only one example of this, do you think the descendants of Julius Cesar know that HE was their ancestor? And if they do, do they remember him as the roman Emperor, or their great great great great great great etc... grandfather? The world remembers him as the Emperor, his family probably doesn't even know they are related to him at all.

Another example of this is that we as a society still remember the names and personas of Roman(greek) and Norse gods. These memories and stories exist with tales of their greatest heroes and kings, and their worst adversaries and conflicts. Of the Romans, we remember their thinkers, their doers, their Kings, their conquerors, and their hero's such as the great Hercules.

The people we remember, are NOT in fact the average farmhands, the peasants and peons who died in battle, but instead we remember those who fought and won, or those who sat down to think like I am doing now... And so... I set off

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I underwent many dangers and trials to obtain opportunity for power that I was about to be granted. I risked my life countless times along the way. Ultimately reaching my goal, the genies chamber. Finally I was standing in front of this being which could grant anything and I certainly wouldn't be wishing for a car or a place in college. Instead I would be ambitious, greedy, and downright nasty in my wishes. Making them (like many deny) solely centered upon myself, and why not? Why should I care for anyone else?

All of those people who would shun me, would die having lived a miserable life, inevitably forgotten amongst the blood splattered pages of humanity and the universe. All this, while I live on, surrounded by stories of my glory, myths of my greatness, and legends of my power; all while I live on, wielding power far beyond their comprehension. "Why?" Some might ask, and my answer is any always will be...

"Because I thought ahead..."
