The first fight of Flora and Squirrel

The first fight of Flora and Squirrel

When she woke up, Flora was in complete dizziness, was she dreaming again or have she finally woken up? With hope, she wanted to wake up on Earth and see her family again. The only familiar face she saw was the one of Squirrel, who was looking at her with worries.

Flora always had limpid dreams about a different world, she remembered a few things about those but they were only dreams so she didn't pay much attention to them. At most, they were cool stories to tell her friends when she saw them in school but nothing more. This dream was like the previous one but her memories of it stayed intact, no even more, she kept the knowledge of this man named Regis Regulia where she was trapped in. It was as if she lived his memories, like she was part of them or even more, she lived them just like Regis.

From this dream she kept a few things to remember, a kingdom named Asteria is or was there in the existence of Onyxia. She remembered the composition of the divisions and their respective leaders. Also, she finally learned the names of all the members of the Five, who are in fact brother and sisters because they have the same surname "Light".

She also witnessed in the memories of Regis the allure of the Two Dragons, giant as a chain of mountains and a swarm of underlings being monsters of all species. She also now know what is trapped in the center of this enormous crystal, an infamous follower of the Grey Dragon.

Squirrel was still looking at her, she pat its head with her right hand and get up. Thankfully for her, this monster was trapped in this giant crystal, it is surely from a technique of the leaders or the Five. But something was off, for some reasons she couldn't avoid looking at it. She got closer to inspect what this feeling of uneasiness came from. Her face is now a few centimeters from the wall of the crystal.

The creature has two wings finishing in claws from each extremity, two small horns with scales were curved. The face of the monster shown no emotion so it means it is either dead or sleeping, after all she couldn't know from a magical world if it was enough to kill them. The scales covering the body of the monster are of a dark black color, the only place where it got clearer was its torso where it was tan. The arms and legs of the members each had three sharp fingers ending in claws that were sharp as a knife. Finally, this creature had a tail finishing in a hook. In size it wouldn't be taller as Flora, maybe a bit tinier.

She searched in the memory of Regis and yes, he has memories of them. Those monsters were called ferocious winglings, a bad reputation to attack in swarm village or farms, leaving only bloods on the trail of their paths. But they were easier in a one versus one, since their strength came from their numerous number.

Lost in her thoughts, thinking about the monsters she could face in the future, the monster twitched. Flora was shocked and shook her head, it must have been her imagination after trying to remember too much of the memories of Regis, but no, the shoulder of the monster moved again. Taking a few step back, Squirrel did the same without knowing why, he hadn't paid much attention to the situation since it had a lot of occasion to pick at the monster while Flora was asleep.

After shaking, the monster opened its scary eye wide and angry. Compared to creatures on earth, it could be affiliated to a crocodile or a cat eyes when they finally spot a prey; the prey here would be Flora. She expected the crystal to hold the monster, after all with a great magic like that, trapping a monster for who know how long, it couldn't break out as easily. As if, the monster by friction did little movements until it finally crumble a few pieces of the crystal, enough to know smash it with its furious anger trapped for years in here.

The though to escape was engraved in the head of Flora, same for Squirrel who wasn't ready to go against such a monster. Without leaving focus on the creature they step back to the corridor they came from, they both hoped the monster would forget about them in the meantime he breaks free of the voluminous crystal.

A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.

Too bad for them, they underestimated the strength, or the anger of the monster that was finally free from its jail of crystal. The claws of the wingling tinkle on the ground as it turn around the crystal patiently. They were in such a pinch, both Squirrel and Flora never fought a monster nor in an animal in their whole life. Both started to run toward the exit but with its wings now deployed, the wingling fly at high speed, it is now blocking the passage to the exit. A malicious smile with a long and moving pointy tongue salivating.

That's it, it was doomed to escape and the only option was to face it. The monster without courteous manners jumped on them, its first target was Flora, a bigger prey and later he could easily take care of the squirrel as a dessert. A mixed feeling was on the face of the monster, it was hungry but also angry, thus the initiative to rush on them. They were also not very reputable to be patient creatures in the world of Onyxia.

What the wingling and Flora did not expect was the clear dodge she made to the right, as if she did this her whole life. The monster stunned for a moment to what he saw paused there. It was calculating what happened, after all from the look of it, she was no fighter. This made the monster angrier, it launches a volley of claw attacks but Flora escaped all of them. Flora was more shocked by what just happened, never in her whole life she had to fight at school nor in another situation, how could she move so easily?

Then she began to understand, the memories of Regis were carved in her head, this include his years of trainings facing numerous winglings. A happy but not victorious smile appeared on her face, if she could face Regis right now, she would hug him and thank him from the bottom of her heart.

Without further add-on, Flora placed her left hand on the head of Squirrel, with a shiny light, transforming it again in a giant and sublime blue sword. At the sight of it, the monster was scared, a fear that it didn't feel from a long time ago flashed through its whole body. It still didn't back out, regaining most of its sense, it remembered the face of Thenix Light well and here in front of her, it was not Thenix Light! As stupid it may look, its intelligence is enough to plan meticulous scheme and recognize faces.

It launches itself again in the direction of Flora with its claws ready to tear her apart. Flora was ready, adopting an intuitive stance from the memories of Regis, holding still her sword in front of her. Her mind was calm but her body was trembling, they were both in conflict, one had now the information about how to face it but her body never.

The monster was now at a meter from Flora, she finally react to its movement and parry the first attack of claw with her weapon, then a second and another one. Flora never attacked or riposted at the monster. It was exhausted but it did not gave up, seeing Flora never trying a thing but block. Frustrated, the monster scream in a furious manner and launch itself for an attack, pointing its claws toward it, it wanted to tear her apart even though it was the last thing it could do.

Flora, even if she didn't show a sign of exhaustion, was on the brink of collapsing. Blocking all those attacks drained her stamina to a point where she just wanted to finish this and go to sleep. When she noticed the monster rushing at her she reacted quickly and took a defensive pose again. Her body reacting on its own again like the previous one, comprehending it was the last attack, took a step to the right of the monster while it was launching itself toward her. She was now to the side of the monster and with a quick movement of both her arms holding the sword, a blue flash passed through the wingling. It was now laying in two parts on the ground, Flora just won her first fight but she also took her first life ever.

Shook from this scene, what would have happened if she hadn't the memories of Regis to help her? She sat on the ground heavy breathing and left the sword on the ground, Squirrel came back with a spinning head after being turned around in all directions. Both of them were contemplating the dead body in front of them, at first they wanted to celebrate their first victories, but after coming back to their senses, they would have preferred to avoid this fight.

What they didn't know was the fact they will have a lot more battles in the future while facing even more dangerous creatures. But for now our two heroes will take a moment to regain all their senses.
