Chapter 1 : Honest Hitch Hikers

----------------------------------------

"Ms Weiss? You still have your memories?"

Weiss looked at her shorter travel companion, slouching down slightly. She was piling the sticks and stones into a fire place, then the question cause her to pause a bit, as before resuming her own procedure and coming up with an answer.

"Yea, I do."

She said dismissively, focusing more on starting the fire that keep them, at least herself warm tonight. Weiss was pretty sure that the living dead needn't warm.

"So what is the world like? How is the everybody like? Is there anyone like me?"

"Poor choice to ask someone like me, will you believe me if I say god drop me down here just approximately fifteen minutes ago? If you do, then I am as lost as you."

Weiss pull out a small matchbook, she plucked out a match, lit it and flick the thing to the fireplace. With a huff, small flame burst into a adequate one. The orange fires illuminated the faces of both Weiss and Sally. The Vampire's red irises trailed the little ad book that carried the matches, there was an interesting picture printed on the inside. A sharply dressed man in a colourful suit and tie, enthusiastically pointing at the reader.

"You uh… want this?"

Weiss gave the artifact from both his past and the his old World to the Vampire. Funny to think that about a few hundreds of years ago, his homeland was once referred to be part of the "New World".

The Vampire eyed at the small picture with curiosity, staring at the man with the brightest, yet the most slimiest smile she ever seen.

"You uh… can keep that if you want. Oh and that guy you are looking at? He is a major asshole, yet he have an useful mouth, but still an asshole and a pussy."

"So who is he to you?"

"Was." Weiss corrected, "He was my lawyer, and he is probably the only few person I know back in the day that is probably still alive, wondering what he is doing nowadays. Probably running a Cinnamon bar with some god-awful pseudonym."

There was a short silence between the two.

"While I cannot say a darn about this place, but if you really want to push it, I can describe the world where I came from, since I wager it probably share similar traits."

The Vampire look up at the Criminal with googly eyes, curious for her story. Weiss on the other hand, had the dancing flames to cast a grim shadow on her face. The same one used when people tell campfire horrors.

"I was once a Chemistry teacher and the place I came from is a mean one. Despite centuries of advancement in technology and society, sometimes no matter how hard you tried the world is going to put you down. And tried it's best to ignore you… or mess with you. And people undeserving of success get what they want. Everything is unfair."

"Oh…"

Weiss's statement killed a bit of Sally's enthusiasm.

"And sometimes when you do tried harder, found something you both like and are good at. You win amazingly, then you lose it all in just a few minutes. "

"I…am sorry."

"Don't be, I did it all for myself and lost sight of what's right and wrong once I got a taste of my reward, then I got too greedy. One moment, everyone likes you and cheered for you, then heh…everyone hated you and they die left and right. And I will have to live with that. Kid, I envy you. At least with your situation you get a pure restart, nothing in your head that haunts you. I … I believe that I will still have a hard time finding a way to retire even in this state."

Weiss leaned back to posture herself to a more comfortable position. Leaving a speechless Vampire to stare blankly at the older woman.

"But then again, both of us ain't getting a future if we can't get out of the woods, and god knows how big his place is."

Hearing nothing from her companion, who was quietly slouching her head.

"Hey hey cheer up, I am having a decent conversation to a literal Vampire, saw a cute looking Slime thingy that doesn't want to shoot me up, this place could be Wonderland for all I care."

"What is a… Wonderland?"

"It is uh umm, a good place. If it is just like what Disney movies claims it to be."

The Vampire gave Weiss a confused look.

"You know what, I will just get some shut eye, we can try to walk tomorrow in day. Wait, can you even walk in the sun?"

Sally said nothing, but she just looked behind the older looking Woman and pointed.

"Uh, Ms Weiss what is that?"

Weiss turned behind, squinted her eyes and a bright smile crept to his face. At a far distance, a moving glow of light can be spotted. A Wagon with a tarp roof, seems to be a small Caravan.

"Our ticket out. HEY! HEYY!"

The two stranded traveller broke into a sprint to catch the Caravan. However the more they both tried, the further the horse drawn vehicle moved. Weiss, despite her new physique was far superior than her old decrepit one, will never be able to catch up nor catch their attentions. Ending up panting and eating dust.

"H…Hey, can you like turn into a bat or a mist and dash there?"

"I…don't know how, I think forgot most of my abilities."

Weiss said nothing, but her mouth morphed into shape that resembled an upside down boat, brows frown and pull to form massive wrinkles on her forehead. She then raised a finger, signally to her compatriot that she have a plan. Gingerly reaching into her breast pocket, Weiss pulled out the Browning Hi-Power , cocked it and pointed at in the night sky.

BANG!

The Caravan didn't change course.

"No…No…please!"

Desperation kicking in, Weiss fired two or three shots or five? She wasn't too sure. The 45 ACP cases falls onto the soil one by one. She was firing as if she was fighting for her life against the night.

The Caravan stopped, turned around, and headed to their direction.

"Yes! YES!"

"Yes Ms Weiss!"

Sally celebrated with a elated Weiss , and the taller woman tried to hug and lift her companion up. However it seems poor Weiss's lack of physical strength was inherited from his older life.

The Caravan trotted for a few steps before skidding to a halt just a few meters away from them. In a closer inspection, it was a tarp caravan with single horse pulling it. The tarp was beige, with painted with brown and yellow stripes. Looks ordinary, perhaps fancier than the average but not that fancy.

On the drivers seat was two men dressed like typical knights. Their helmet less so the two hitchhikers can see their face clearly. One of them had pasty skin with a scar on the left eye, while the other was a neckbeard.

"Hey, what do we have here. Nice nice looking beauties, one of em definitely a noble's daughter. Exquisite. Redi?" The Neckbeard commented, he has a voice with a high pitch.

"Yea, Discu Doll, exquisite. So how can we help you two?"

Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.

Weiss frowned slightly, before sighing and collect herself. Sally said nothing, but observed the interaction quietly.

"We both are uhh lost, we need a ride to the nearest town or city."

"So what's innit for us?"

"What?"

"I said again," Discu reiterated, with a hint of annoyance. "What's innit for us, we are nice guys we are. Sadly milady, nothin in this world is eh free meal."

"Yea, nothin free meal." Redi parroted.

"I … I really have nothing on me now. Look, once we get to a town or city we can find someway to repay you."

"Nah Maid, that shiny thing on that smooth finger on dem finger o yours, worth mucho two gold pieces. Or you can give me a good blowie and I will consider."

"Fuck you."

"What was that?"

Weiss formerly a man suffered enough insult from these two knob jobs. She deepens her voice, slightly twisting her head and spoke, which sounded more like a growl.

"Listen here smartasses, seeing from your get up I expect you two to be good Samaritans, but no. Turns out you are just two inbred fatherless scum that hid your shitiness behind fancy Armour and tarp."

She raised her ring finger and shove it close to the Knights.

"And this thing here you pigs? Ain't for sell! That is my wedding ring you bastards. One more mention about this I don't care whether you are the Pope's guards or some Kings personal bitch, I will saw your arms off, rip the scrotum out, then light the stumps on fire! So right now you can either you ride away now and we find someone who is actually helpful or we do the earlier thing I suggested. "

The two went completely quiet for a moment , then they looked at each other, and burst out laughing. Weiss, began to pant after the outburst.

"You have energy milady, what a rarity. Relax, We just joking. We two are gentleman we are, of course we will help out two…beautiful damsels in distress."

Weiss , still frown and fire in heart smothering, glared at the two stooges. She still have the pride of a man. Eyes burns with malice she lowered her head slightly then stare at Discu.

"Forget about it, we will walk."

"Uh … Miss Weiss?" Sally spoke at last.

"Sally don't worry, uh I once camped before with my students back in the day at a ranch. So it ain't that bad." Weiss said as she turned around to return to their small camp site.

Stopping only at the sight before her, Sally was lifting the tarp slightly to peer inside. A concerned look on her face, Weiss closed in on her companion, and her mouth fell ajar.

They both a staring a padlocked cage which comprises most part of the cargo. Inside was a terrified gagged Elf girl tied up at the wrists and ankles, dressed in a poor linen dirty white poncho. She looks like she was in her twenties and has short white hair, her watery white eyes stared at the two.

Click.

Weiss did not turn at the sound, but raised her hands up slowly, still facing the captive Elf. Sally sensing the tension, despite her amnesia somehow remembered this gesture followed suit.

"You know, if ye agreed, I coulda say 'Nothin Free Meal'. Wasted a goood line you female waste." Discu jeered, sticking the tip of his loaded crossbow behind Weiss's head.

"Yea shame, still exquisite products. Can sell more than did elf bitch there."

Redi licked his lips as he scanned Sally's body up to down with a dirty look.

"This one, definitely my type."

"You two ain't really knights right?" Weiss pointed out.

"No we ain't, now hand over dem shinies, I want the one with the big mouth to do it. Starting with her all soOoo precious ring. "

Weiss turned around, her face still carrying that scowl. Her eyes intense as she looked the ring on her finger, taking it off with some reluctance.

"And put it on this one will you dearie?" Redi mockingly presented his ring finger to her, Weiss glared at him while still holding onto the ring.

"So what are you waitin for?"

A giddy Discu poked Sally on her neck with the arrow tip.

"Big…mistake."

Weiss slide the ring onto the bony finger of the scum. In turn he slapped the older woman with a backhand.

"That ain't so hard innit bitch? Now do you have more?"

Weiss said nothing, taking a few seconds to recover and turning her sight to Redi. Still keeping the scowl on her face. Her blue eyes became ever more piercing.

"I asked again, do you have more, or should I tear off that awful looking coat of yours?"

"I do...have something."

Weiss said, her eyes unblinking. Eyes staring at the iron tip of the arrow that just centimeters away from her skin, it could pierce through her skull if she isn't careful. She briefly gazed at Sally who was pursing her lips in anxiety. If crucifixes and Christ didn't work against Sally, there was no promise that the little Vampire was able to do anything meaningful to these degenerates.

So it is all up her, right here , she was the man.

"Yea? Where is this shiny?"

Gingerly, with shaking fingers she reached into her coat, pulling out something as big as the palm of her hand with a polished silver surface.

"It looks ok? What is it? Some kind of silver flute or…"

BANG!

Redi gave Weiss a blank stare, as he fell with a splat. The neat hole on his forehead began leaking red mush, streams of blood shoot out of the wound like fountains, droplets splashing on the ground.

"REDI! HIS MY BROTHER IN LAW YOU WHORE!"

Weiss hastily fire point blank at Discu, hitting him at the shoulder, but one bullet failed to penetrate his breastplate. But the shots pained Discu so much that it brought him down to his knees, presenting his shiny balding head as a price for Weiss's bullet to claim.

Frustrated Weiss fired again, only to hear her Browning Hi-Power complained with clicks.

"No NO no."

If only he have one more bullet, if only he hadn't fired too much at the sky.

Struggling to lift his injured shoulder, Discu used all his might to point the crossbow at Weiss with his injured arm and fired.

The tip hit true and dug itself into Weiss's abdomen, causing her to howl in pain.

"MS WEISS!"

Discu, just recently made his life goal to end Weiss's life. Pull out a dagger and lunged for her. Weiss just pulled out the arrow with much agony, failed to respond in time and allowed Discu to pin her down.

The two rolled on the ground together, both not really experienced in real combat created a messy wrestle for life. Both glared at each other with intense hatred and desperation, one for an fractured ego and another for a lost comrade. The stray arrow and spent pistol was thrown carelessly at a corner.

Discu laughed as it seems he was winning the tug of war, the dagger's tip getting ever closer to Weiss's chest. Weiss was sweating bullets, grasping for breath her hands gripped on Discu's wrists. Then the load on Weiss's suddenly became ever lighter.

Weiss was holding two bloody arm, the one holding the dagger let go and dropped harmlessly on her chest. Next to her was a screaming armless Discu, whose shoulders was held by a horrified Sally. Blood gushing from his two clean stumps.

"I didn't mean it, I was just trying to pull him away." Sally said as she dropped Discu with shaking hands.

"Well guess you remembered something." Weiss said as she got up, tossing the arms aside.

She approached the now armless man, giving him first a look of disgust.

"W…what you doing?"

Weiss said nothing. She patted the man down, ripping a pouch of coins and a key from him. Tossing it to Shally, who caught it and immediately she rushed to open the cage and untied the binds of the Elf. The Elf hugged Sally as her first instinct. Tears stained the Vampire's shoulder.

"T-Thank you" was muttered repeatedly by the Elf. For the first time Sally felt something warm and comfortable brewing in her undead body.

"HEY! I KNOW PEOPLE, BIG PEOPLE! You better PATCH ME UP OR YALL ARE GONNA Have a sorry…time…"

Discu's threat soften up as Weiss towered over him, the clenched teeth , raised eyelids and tightened lips silenced him. On her hand was the oil lamp from the wagon.

"W…what are you doing?"

She pinch the flame to kill it, then methodically pour the lamp oil onto the wounds of Discu, making him scream the loudest he ever did, oil got mixed with blood. Then she turned to Sally.

"Sally, that thing I gave you, lend me for a while will you?"

Nodding in confusion and fear, Sally tossed the Lawyer's matchbook to Weiss. She lit one up, bend over and held it close enough to Discu's petrified face.

"No, no please I beg you!"

"I…am a man of my words." Weiss hissed with hate.

"M…man?"

Was Discu's last word, before Weiss dropped lighter and the poor degenerate burst into a glorious fireball. He screamed and squirmed like a caterpillar on fire, and the agonizing flames reflects sadistically onto Weiss's spectacles.

Both the Elf and Sally looked at the towering Woman in fear as she hopped onto the driver's seat and took the reins.

"You two coming or what?"

"I…can too?" The Elf asked timidly.

Weiss sighed and said in a exasperated voice.

"Yea, you too."

Sally and the Elf nodded, leaving the burning slaver to rot.

"Hey, so where is this Caravan heading?"

"I…I heard from those two that this was meant for the Capital of Re-Estize Kingdom."

"Alright, also what I never catch your name."

"It's...It is…Efer…Eferdora."

"Alright Eferdora, nice to meet you."

Weiss slapped the reins and the wagon started moving. She looked up, just in time to see the sky turning blue as morning breaks. The Sun rises , casting a light on all. The blue of the Sky was just as Weiss's eyes. That colour fills her heart with nostalgia, a bittersweet one that left her in a trance.

"Uh Miss Weiss?"

Snapping out of it, Weiss turned to Sally, noticing the Sun bathed her in full glory. Leading Weiss to sigh.

"So that's complete bullshit too."

-End-

Few hours later…

A giant Skeleton in luxurious robes stood in the middle of empty grassfield. He was carrying a golden staff adorned with Jewellery. He broke the

Ainz Ooal Gown has tried everything, all sorts of scrying spells , all talents of the Great Tomb of Nazarick. Yet he got pitiful results. He was in both pain and rage as the purple dark aura of despair engulfed him. His jaw flew open and a bellow that caused the surrounding forest to shake fear, a sounded of falling leaves followed suit.

"I swear I will find you Shalltear. And make the one who did this to you pay!."

A Succubus in a white dress stood at a corner in tears. It brings her agony to see her beloved supreme being in pain.

"Albedo , this is where the World Item pinpointed her location last?"

"Yes Ainz-sama, we can divert more resources into the search, I promise we will find her eventually."

Ainz sighed, lowered his head in disappointment. It was because of this gesture, the universe seemingly aligned the stars to award him. As Ainz's red eyes hidden behind those sockets caught on to something. He lumbered forward, bending down to the item of interest.

A white card with a blue border was hidden among the grasses. It was wrinkled and crushed, but the thing that weirded him out was that he can't read a single letter on it. Because it wasn't in Japanese nor the New World Common language, but English, something that he can't read.

He cast a tier zero [Translate] spell. A spell that in reality less of a spell but a feature the Game Designers of Yggdrasil put in and dresses it up as a spell for immersion. This was to appeal for an international market, even through in the end the game as big as it was, it never got big outside the country.

"Jesus Loves You"

Ainz then flip the card.

"When a crime is not punished quickly, people feel it is safe to do wrong. - Ecclesiastes 8:11"

The Overlord's eyes stared intensively at the rainbow coloured fonts of this sentence.
