Wein
Prologue 3

Prologue 3

Wein along with others watched as the 10 children fought amongst themselves to death. It was brutal; a boy with one arm cut stabbed a girl, and another girl burned a boy to death. After all that fighting only a boy survived, even though he killed someone's friend, brother, or sister nobody could blame him, they understood his need to survive and some of them were once in a similar position.

"Wein" The king called out. Wein's spine froze as he stepped forward "Yes my lord"

"How is your training going?" the king asked smiling.

"It's going well, sir. I now only need 3 spells for no chanting"

"Good. You are one of our best"

"Thank you, sir" Wein stepped back.

"Rondu what about you?"

A boy of sixteen stepped forward; he had a muscular body of about 185 cm in height. "I have mastered the third core, sir."

"Nice. And rest all of you work hard. Humanity is dependent on you"

"Yes, my lord" all the children bowed down and shouted in unison. The King turned back and walked back towards his castle. Everyone left a breadth of relief. Evan took over and said, "No rest everyone. Move out to your respective classes"

"Yes", everyone said in unison.

Below the night sky, three people surrounded a golden feather floating in the air emitting a bright light. They were chanting nonstop, while a woman was supervising them.

"Seph, how's the progress?" A man came up the stairs.

"Neth, all is going well a few more minutes and the barrier will be on its last life" They both looked at the the pitch-black barrier that separated the earth and sky. Neth looked behind him at the army camps, there was a birthday party going so the mood of his soldiers was high.

"Seph" One of the mages called out.

"What is it?"

"If we chant for another week, the barrier can be destroyed completely"

Both Seph and Neth looked at each other and smiled. "Soon sister, soon. We will take the revenge we people of Earth deserve. We will show them the heroes they created" Neth said but Seph said nothing.

"You guys go to the party," Neth said "You can start tomorrow" he added.

"No, it's fine. It's our responsibility…"

"Shut up. You all go peacefully or I throw you all there" Neth said.

The three mages smiled and dropped the chanting. Before leaving a mage patted Neth's shoulder, "You too, do not just push yourself too hard. Come on let's go. I guess everyone is waiting for you."

"But I…."

"Shut your mouth, it's for everyone"

Neth smiled and along with Seph and the mages went back towards the army camps.

Wein went last to eat dinner as the teacher made him practice more than the other children in magic practice due to his unique. There he noticed a small boy holding his plate toward the food pantry, but the servers didn't bother looking at him.

"Oi can't you see him waiting" Wein called out the Server, waking him up.

"My bad boy. I didn't see you there" The man gave both of them their portion, and sitting together they started to eat.

"What's your name?" Wein asked.

"Leinne," The boy said softly.

"I am Wein" There was silence, it was only two of them eating.

"Wein…" Leinne muttered, "Why are we here?"

Wein looked at Leinne with sorry eyes and said, "To provide freedom to the human civilization…" But as he said it his voice slowly diminished

"I see" Again silence. After both of them were done eating, Wein escorted Leinne toward his room. Before going to his room Leinne asked, "Did you have a dream?"

Wein looked at him surprised, for the past three years Wein did nothing but train, even before coming here he had no dreams or aspirations.

"No, I don't have any"

"I see" Leinne closed the door. Wein stood outside alone lost. He walked back to his room. The next day as Wein was going downstairs to eat he noticed Atelio and Mira sitting together about to eat, taking his food he sat beside them.

"Who is that behind you?" Mira asked.

Wein looked back to see Leinne. "He is Leinne, one of the kids the King brought yesterday.". Wein brought Leinne to his front, "Go bring your food let's eat together"

Leinne went ahead and stood in line. Wein looked at Atelio and Mira and asked, "Did you two want to be something before coming here?"

"Huh! Why are you asking us that now?" Mira was quite surprised, "I had lost all interest in being a scholar when I came here"

"I…I wanted to run a restaurant like my uncle" Atelio said, "His food was much better than this" Wein laughed a little.

"What about you?" Mira asked

"Me I didn't have any."

"That's sad", Atelio remarked.

"I know"

Half a minute later Leinne joined them. Wein looked at him and asked, "What is your dream?"

"My…dream…to kill the king"

Mira quickly shut her mouth. "Don't even dare to say that here"

"Why? They killed my mama and papa "Mira dropped her hand feeling sad about the little boy. Even her parents were killed when she was brought here, but in the past four years the grudge, no, even the hope of any revenge has disappeared.

"By the way Leinne" Atelio called.

"Yeah"

"What are you good at it? Fighting or magic"

"Magic"

"Heh. You are going with me" Wein said.

"That's good but still make sure to be physically fit, it will save you a lot of trouble" Atelio suggested, who left without saying anything else. After eating all of them went to the ground to start training. Leinne could run pretty well as he was just behind Rondu, who was first to finish the 70th lap. Wein was quite surprised as he barely made it to 30th rank, whereas Mira and Atelio were ranked 28th and 5th respectively. After running and some physical exercise the children as usual divided into two groups; magic and physical.

Mira, Wein, and Leinne are back inside the building to learn magic. The teacher looked at Leinne and asked "You new here?"

"Yes" Leinne, replied.

As Leinne, Mira, and Wein were sitting together, the teacher asked Mira to teach Leinne the basics, after giving a three-hour lecture the teacher and Wein left while a substitute teacher was made the supervisor over the other students.

"Why did he take Wein away?" Leinne asked.

"Because he has a unique talent which makes him the strongest amongst everyone here"

"What's his talents?"

"Wein has a special power that allows him to reduce the chanting time for every consecutive spell. After 3 spells he doesn't even need to chant to use magic."

"Is that good?"

"Yes, very good. We as mages have a unique disadvantage that it take time cast any spell"

"Can I be like him too?"

"No, that's something unique to him… but don't worry you might have something that's unique to you, that not even Wein could have.
