His hunger had been sated for now and he quickly found another nook to hide and think from.
'This vision I have is appalling, wandering about is most likely akin to a death wish. However I don't have anything to base my fears off of: what size am I, how high on the food chain am I... There are so many questions that I still can't answer...'
'Thinking about it, spiders spin webs don't they? If I could make myself a spot to hide and catch prey from...'
With a bit of trial and error, he managed to get some string from out of his sternum and he attempted to make a rudimentary shape, however such usage seemed currently outside of his skillset.
'This is going nowhere, at this rate I'll be here all day.'
'Although it's not as though I have much else to do.'
'I feel like this might get boring very quickly, and if not then dangerous is probably next on the list, however I don't have much of a choice do I?'
In his pacing back and forth with hopes of coming up with a better idea, he had quite accurately remarked with the dreadful realisation that he would have little else to do in this world of mysteries.
And so with nothing else to do, he could do but continue on with the dreary task.

Some time later, in the midst of making some progress, he was once more caught off guard by the mysterious voice of the system.

'Woah!'
'I guess that was to be expected, somehow I hadn't considered it.'
'But it does prove the point that skills can level up through usage without the need for skill points.'
'Could I do the same with [Appraisal]?'
'Wait-!'
'I have skills that I don't know about!'
'The only issue is how to tell which ones I have...'
'Maybe I have a vision level associated with a skill, and if that increases, my vision will too!'
'Now how would one go about that...'
The first idea that came to mind had to be trying to concentrate the blurriness in his eyes to no avail. However that didn't stop him from trying all the same.
'Wether or not this is working, I don't know.'
'I just have to hope that my eyesight will improve passively along with whatever skill there might be that's associated with it. Like perhaps night vision, or would it be considered cave vision?'
'I'm getting sidetracked, I should get back to weaving a web.'
What was being weaved was more akin to tripwire than a spider's web, but the ability to improve it was rooted in the continuous effort put in as he worked in the endless boredom that the empty cave represented.
----------------------------------------
The droning task had at least given birth to something, as in its completion the [Web Spinning - Level 2] had risen to level 3, which allowed him to compare to some extent the difference it had made. To which he concluded that it must be the speed at which he creates his string. Indicating that [Web Weaving] must affect his ability to form more complex shapes and patterns with his webbing, which would admittedly be more useful for his current endeavor of trying to build a web. For which he had an interlacing net from ground level to slightly higher than his height.
'I haven't actually tried to scale up the walls yet...'
'How do spiders even climb walls in the first place, do they have some form of substance at the tip of their feet to help them stick to the walls?'
'Thinking about it, I've heard from some that spiders have small hairs to help them stick to walls, and others say that from a spider's perspective walls and ceilings are much rougher than meets the eye.'
'Looking at the walls and at my feet, the answer is probably both, but this world also has video game mechanics so I can't be sure.'
'Still, this would allow me to create bigger webs.'
'Let's see if this works.'
One leg up, then another, and another, up until there was but two left on the ground to support his weight.
'Well here goes nothing-'
lifting the last of his legs up, he had successfully gripped onto the wall.
'Woah, this is trippy! I'm getting a bit dizzy. Let's hope that feeling goes away with time.'
'With this I won't have to create just a wall of webbing.'
'But I'm getting quite tired, I must have used up tons of energy without realising it.'
'If I keep at this I'll probably run out of energy and not be able to continue hunting, then I'll be in big trouble.'
'So I guess I just have to wait here and hope my trap works at least a little bit.'
'In the meantime, it feels like my new body's internal clock is telling me I should rest.'
His vision slowly going dark, surrounded by his attempts at making a functional web from which he may gather food to last him until his next capture. So out went the teensy little spider...
