I have always been able to adapt quickly and easily to life situations.
But I must admit that this time I don’t know if I can.
I have more or less accepted the fact of being dead, but for the rest...
I mean, a dragon? This kind of creature is supposed to exist only in fiction, and yet I have become one.
Moreover, the existence of a different world than Earth seems completely unreal. In fact, historically men have tried to discover the existence of other planets that could harbor life but never found anything.
If we add to that the fact that I must now share my body with a stranger...
In short, the future looks complicated.
Lost in my thoughts, I suddenly hear roars...
They come from my second head!
“Amelia? What are you doing?”
“I'm trying to speak. But apparently only roars come out of my mouth...” She answered.
I see... As expected, it is impossible to communicate like humans, despite being able to think like one of them.
Wow! Flames are now coming out of the mouth of my second head!
“And now, what are you doing?” I said.
“I'm testing the skill [Fire breath], it works! We can really spit fire! You should try too, with both of us the damage will be doubled.”
How am I supposed to use a skill? Maybe it's enough to think about it.
Fire breath…
I feel a sudden strong heat from the bottom of my throat, then the flames escape my mouth and project in front of me.
However, this only lasts two or three seconds.
I'm trying to use the skill again... But nothing happens.
“Why doesn’t it work anymore?” I asked.
“Look at the 'status' screen, we have no more MP. The [Fire breath] skill consumes 10 MP per second, so we can’t use it as much as we want.” She answered.
Indeed, my status shows 'MP: 0/50'.
Strangely, I find the fact of being able to spit fire pretty exciting.
But I prefer to remain pragmatic.
Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.
This skill will allow us to survive more easily in this world, it's just a pity that its use is so limited because of its consumption of MP. Besides...
“How do you know that the skill consumes 10 MP per second?” I said.
“Thanks to the skill [Appraisal]! When you use it on something, information about that thing is displayed on a screen.”
I understand...
A chance that Amelia has experience in this area.
I am trying to use [Appraisal] on the passive skill [Dragon’s might] to learn more about it.
Dragon’s might (detail)
Description: As a dragon, you are one of the most powerful creatures in this world.
Effect: All attributes start at 5 points (instead of 1).
“This skill is very important, it allows us not to start with the strength of an insect! Unless insects of this world are gigantic and overpower, haha.” Explained Amelia.
...
Speaking of size, if I had to compare the size of this new body with the size of an adult human, I would say that in height I reach its knees. In length, counting my tail and my heads, I reach its shoulders. I am however not very wide*, but it’s because I’m a ‘baby dragon’ after all.
“So, when will we leave this cave? I want to explore this new world and kill monsters!” She continued.
She seriously believes that she is in a video game?
Personally, I would prefer that there is no monster around, except for us obviously...
“Soon. But first, I must be sure that you're really fine.” I said.
“What do you mean?”
“I think you accepted our new situation too easily and too quickly. We are not in a game. If we die, there will probably be no other reincarnation...”
Since we now share the same body, I must be sure that Amelia is not distracted. I know that she’s not a little girl, but our lives are linked, if she dies, I die. She must be aware of it.
“I know it's not a game. It's just... Obviously, I miss my parents and my little brother Adrian. I hope they will not cry my death too much... However, my mother said that we must always get the most out of life, and that's what I intend to do in this new life! Don’t worry, I will not be a hindrance.” She answered.
“Good, that's what I wanted to hear.”
Now that I have more or less understood how the system works, I can say that our chances of survival in this world have just increased. Moreover, Amelia will also be of great help.
It's time to leave this cave and face the outside world!
I head for the light source, which I think is the exit.
Strangely, I do not need time to adapt myself to this dragon body. I thought that being human for many years would make it difficult, but not at all.
The light is becoming more intense. My eyes were used to low light, so I have a hard time seeing what's outside.
“Wow!” Exclaimed Amelia.
Outside of the cave, we discover...
A forest... Trees as far as the eye can see.
But what causes Amelia's reaction is probably the weird flowers that seem to grow everywhere in this forest.
There are two different types of them, some emit a blue light, others a red light. The whole makes the landscape completely surreal.
The kind of scenery that would be impossible to see on Earth!
I raise my head to watch the sky. But from what I see, it is not different from the sky of the Earth and judging by the lighting, the sun will soon set.
The cave from which I came out was only a 'small' hole in a gigantic mountain. So, there is no way to go back. We have however the choice to go right, left or straight ahead.
“So, where to start?” I said.
I feel a little bad toward Amelia who can only control my left head, so I will often ask her opinion. After all, we will stay together for a long time.
“I'm hungry!”, she said, “let's find something to eat.”
Now that she says it...
“Well, let's find something to eat. Hmm… Which way are we going?” I said.
On the left, I can hear weird and somewhat scary noises. The path before me seems a little too dark. The one on the right seems to be the safest.
“To the right!” I said.
“To the left!” She said at the same time.
First disagreement, it starts well...
