The city burned, plasmic liquid lurking in each ruin, the white bang of the destructive weapons blinding the Romans. It was no longer a war, but a slaughter, the Romans have really become the sheep in their own land.
Quintis was running, he doesn’t even remember how long anymore, everything around him was gone, houses blackened and melting, streets littered with corpses. He had only stopped running to shoot at the Russian scum, their thick metal armour and shielding technology only giving up when many Romans unloaded. Each Russian was worth 10 Romans, and they couldn’t handle that statistic.
Quintis tripped, the others with him continued running, leaving him behind. He was getting up when he watched the entire group explode into turquoise bones. A large spotlight looking at the remains. A loud clattering lurch grew closer. Quintis moved towards one of the many ruins, hiding behind a wall well staring at the intersection.
The clattering got closer and closer, eventually revealing a small machine, four legs judding out of it and stamping into the ground, a small metal box on top with many spotlights and the green glow of Russian troops.
What have the Russians created, monstrous machines of mass destruction? Even our nuclear weapons weren’t as obnoxious as this! These creations are going to destroy the Empire we have stood and held for centuries! Thought Quintis, hoping that Headquarters or the Emperor had some form of a backup plan against the abominations.

He didn’t know how long it had been, only that the biggest machines had walked through the city towards the next, and that only small search parties of Russians remained, the small machines walking through the streets and randomly firing upon Roman corpses.
The sky grew dark, and the space war revealed itself once again, this time it looked larger, like the fleets had doubled. Maybe they had, the space war was always seen as more important than the ground nowadays. The dark sky echoed the plasma fire of the Russians as they tore through the corpses, the screams of the last Roman troops had ended long ago.

Speakers blasting a foreign language roamed on the machines, yelling what sounded like propaganda to the Russian marines.
Quintis closed his eyes on that ruined wall, waiting for a platoon of troops to find him and commit obscenities to his body. He unloaded his rifle and put a new clip in, knowing he needed as much fire power as he could get, even though it wouldn’t be enough to even damage a Russian.
The radio had been silent forever now, but a faint sound blurted out, its voice so quiet you could barely hear it. “Any remains troops… We regret to inform you that Nuclear destruction has been commenced in the sector, your city is one of the few to avoid it, we need information on the titans. We are releasing a horde of our secret project into the warzone. Be prepared, may the Emperor protect you all.”
It had been ages since he had heard a voice of his own tongue, it felt amazing. What project do they speak of? Do we have creations and machines like that of the Russians? Have we created such monstrosities in the Emperors name? Thought Quintis, looking back at the sky. That’s when he noticed a small flickering that was growing closer and closer, it was getting bright and huge.
With an explosive thud, it hit the ground, the entire city shaking and even the ruins collapsed further. Quintis looked to the dust storm, its shockwave launching everything away. A cloud of dust rose, and the Russians were running around like the lost pigs they were.
A loud voice rose from the crater. “This is Emperor Planticus, the Russians have made machines of destruction, and in our time of need, we will release ours!”
A bright red glow gleamed through the smoke and dust, it rose higher and higher. By the time it stopped it must’ve been one hundred stories tall, maybe more. An ear shattering cracking sound grew as the glow moved forward. The Russians opened fire upon the glow. But a thick viscous liquid that looked like a very bright tin launched out of the smoke. The Russian’s shielding melted and so did their flesh and bones.
“Purity is in our grasp.” Roared the Emperor once more. The sky growing brighter with dozens more of the gigantic titans falling upon the front.
