Chapter 29 Found Part 1

Hearing Yan Kai's words, Lu Sheng wasn't angry. He just smiled.

"In that case, this subordinate will notify all the three religions and nine schools in the city for the two Daoist Masters. If you need any help, you can directly find any clothing store, medicine shop, blacksmith shop in the city and they can provide convenience for you three."

"That works too." Yan Kai nodded solemnly. "Then, since it is so, we'll take our leave first to carefully investigate the Lotus Room."

"Daoist Master, please go ahead." Lu Sheng smiled.

"I'll go along too."

The wandering female swordsman Zhuan Feng said as well.

Seeing Yan Kai's trio off, Lu Sheng ordered that they were to move freely throughout the Lu residence. No one was to obstruct them.

"Little Sheng, do you think those three are reliable?" Lu Quan'an walked in from outside. He had also heard the earlier conversation.

"It doesn't matter if they are reliable or not. Just being able to discern my injuries and even cure me with a bottle of medicine, the money we spent would be worth it." Lu Sheng said mildly.

"You have full authority over this matter. Everyone in the residence, including me, will listen to your arrangements. Go ahead without worries!" Lu Quan'an said earnestly.

"Thank you Father." Lu Sheng smiled.

After Lu Quan'an left as well, Lu Sheng returned to his own bedroom. Carefully feeding himself nourishing bird's nest soup spoon by spoon.

Since getting injured previously, he hadn't properly raised his internal martial arts.

After all, it would harm rather than strengthen by depleting his essence to cultivate martial arts on an injured body.

But with his body's yin energy dispelled now, he also started contemplating how to chart his path forward.

While drinking bird's nest soup, Lu Sheng sat lazily motionless in the rattan chair in his yard with eyes half-closed.

"Young Master, Miss Qingqing still hasn't returned after so many days. Could she really be....?" Xiaohuang worriedly asked softly.

"No need to panic. Panicking is useless. It's best to leave specialized matters to the specialists." Lu Sheng shook his head.

"This slave just feels heartache seeing Second Madam's eyes red and swollen from crying everyday."

Xiaohuang said softly.

"Young Master, do you think they'll succeed?"

"They should uncover some clues at least. But how much, unclear." Lu Sheng casually replied. Inwardly, he wondered if what Yan Kai said was true.

Thinking carefully, the other party had no need to deceive him. If truly just cheating money, that small bottle of Yang-returning water could already let them earn hand over fist.

With the matter temporarily undertaken by those people, no need to rush things.

The evil ghost in the Lu residence was also dealt with, safety was temporarily guaranteed.

Only...hearing Yan Kai's words, there were estimated to be quite a few evil ghosts in Jiu Lian City still.

A strong sense of crisis thus emerged in Lu Sheng's mind.

Just one evil ghost previously had forced him to go all out. If more were to come....

"You go out first. I want some quiet to rest." Lu Sheng suddenly spoke.

Xiaohuang acknowledged and helped him onto the bed, covered him with a blanket before voluntarily exiting herself.

With the creaking sound of the door closing....

Lu Sheng slowly sat up from the bed. He got out of bed and took out a gray paper package from the bookcase drawer.

Gently unfolding the package revealed some grayish-white fine powder inside.

This was the remaining material left after that evil ghost died.

Lu Sheng didn't know if it had any use but some use might still be found for the remnants left by such a supernatural being. So he didn't discard this powder and had carefully kept it instead.

Holding the powder spread out on the tabletop....

"Looks like if I want to find out the use of this thing, I still have to start from Yan Kai's pair."

He contemplated.

Keeping the powder, he fell into a stable sleep this time.

Waking after slumber, it was already nighttime.

Xiaohuang was lighting the lamps inside the room. Her twelve year old bottom in a white skirt protruded towards Lu Sheng's line of sight, wagging to and fro very tempting.

It was a pleated skirt reaching her knees. With her back facing him and bottom jutting up, her plump and perky little bottom was thoroughly highlighted.

"Cough cough..." Lu Sheng lightly coughed, feeling refreshed and energetic all over after waking up.

Xiaohuang immediately noticed and hurriedly turned around.

"Young Master you're awake! The kitchen still has simmering silver ear soup. Does Young Master want a bowl?"

"What time is it now?"

"Almost the hour of Hai (9pm to 11pm)." Xiaohuang swiftly answered.

Lu Sheng tallied it. The hour of Hai was between 9pm to 11pm.

"So late already. Did those people out have any returned news during the day?"

"Are you referring to those Daoist Masters?" Xiaohuang asked.

"Right."

"Second Uncle Yu Han has been waiting outside for quite some time already. There should be news." Xiaohuang replied.

"Ask Yu Han to come in."

Lu Sheng rubbed his temples and started getting out of bed to change.

By the time he tidied up his outer garments neatly, that same burly guard from before Yu Han walked in.

"Eldest Young Master." He bowed with cupped fists.

"Has Daoist Yan Kai relayed any news back?"

"Yes. Around half an hour ago, Daoist Yan Kai went to the Zheng residence and resolved their similar previous case of missing people. He headed to the Xu residence ruins now." Mentioning Yan Kai, admiration emerged on Yu Han's face once more.

For this man to resolve such bizarre incidents so swiftly!

One must know that he personally witnessed that evil ghost's visage. Capable of possession, flight and great speed. Its body exuded extreme toxicity that even Eldest Young Master was caught unaware.

Yet this Daoist was actually able to casually resolve it. He was truly an expert.

Lu Sheng was unsurprised instead.

"What about Miss Zhuan Feng?"

"Some clues have already been found. I summoned a few men to follow Miss Zhuan Feng out of the city. There should be feedback soon."

Yu Han answered.

"Indeed worthy of specialists. With things handed to them for just a day, clues have emerged." Lu Sheng exclaimed. "Let's go. Accompany me for a meal. I hope my little sister is alright."

Yu Han and Xiaohuang didn't dare respond. For such matters, whatever response from servants would just spell trouble.

Taking the two along, Lu Sheng exited the bedroom. Two guards still stood on duty outside with a table of prepared dishes and wine further ahead.

Several maidservants were busily wiping cutlery, bowls and wine cups.

Lu Sheng sat down about to start eating, using chopsticks to pick some food into his mouth.

"There's news! Eldest Young Master! There's news!"

Suddenly anxious yelling sounds transmitted from outside the yard.

Lu Sheng immediately stood up to see a stumbling servant rushing in from the yard entrance while panting loudly.

"Second Young Lady! News of Second Young Lady! Outside the city at the Broken Abbey!"

There were three abbeys outside Jiu Lian City but only one called Broken Abbey.

Situated north of Jiu Lian City near the White Ocean coast, it was a stretch of desolate mountains. Within those peaks existed an abbey of unknown dedication or origin.

Lu Sheng knew of that area having visited a few times during youth outings.

They would take shelter at that broken abbey when it rained outside.

"Is it that abbey near the White Ocean coast?" Lu Sheng immediately asked.

"Precisely there!" That servant swiftly acknowledged. "Miss Zhuan said that the missing people have a high chance of being held at that abbey. We can head over to investigate ourselves!"

"What about Daoist Yan Kai and them?"

"They have already gone ahead first!"

Lu Sheng squinted. His body had just recovered and shouldn't be rushing into action.

But opportunity called.

If Yan Kai wished to remain for long it would be fine but from their actions, it didn't seem so. More as if they were tracking some lead that brought them through here.

"Looks like I still have to think of ways to glean that famed ghost-banishing secret art from this Daoist or some profound technique."

Lu Sheng's original intent was to obtain some of those famed cultivation methods or techniques used by cultivators from Yan Kai.

Since evil ghosts truly existed, perhaps such cultivation techniques might as well.

Having thought thus, Lu Sheng instructed, "Gather over ten men to head over together."

"Yes!" Yu Han swiftly acknowledged.

..........

The night wind howled, exceptionally piercingly cold.

Between the mountains, a long line of red torch flames swiftly shifted.

At the front was Lu Sheng fully wrapped in thick clothing while riding a horse.

Behind him was Yu Han, then over ten guards.

Advancing in the dark night for an incense stick's worth of time, the group soon found the path leading to Broken Abbey that Zhuan Feng mentioned. (15 minutes)

Everyone held torches with blades, bows and other weapons on them, wearing leather armor and helmets looking no different from real troops.

Braving the frigid winds, the group walked several hundred steps more before the worn down and dilapidated ruins of a gray abbey emerged from the mountain woods up ahead.

The originally peaceful and dark abbey currently had flashing lights with faint yelling.

The fierce winds rendered listening futile, only the wind could be heard blocking out the abbey's interior noises.

When the abbey was still a hundred steps away, Lu Sheng raised his hand signaling the troop to halt.

Now much nearer, everyone could also hear the interior clamor that should be Daoist Yan Kai.

"Eldest Young Master, what do we do now?"

Yu Han grew somewhat anxious with slight sweat on his brows.

"No hurry." Lu Sheng tightened his fox fur coat. The snowy soft fur thoroughly wrapped his neck providing warmth.

"Us going now would only hinder the Daoist Master. So no need to rush." Lu Sheng said deeply.

The group waited a while more. The abbey's lights gradually grew brighter as Yan Kai's yelling became clearer.

Lu Sheng quietly waited outside for a stretch before signaling a guard to pass him a torch.

Personally gripping the torch, he approached the abbey.

Yu Han wanted to stop him but gritted his teeth after thinking otherwise.

"Follow!" He loudly ordered, second to advance after Lu Sheng.

The other guards and servants all felt their hair stand but with the residence rules as high as mountains, they still had to follow Yu Han forward.

Although Yan Kai was ahead and Eldest Young Master before them, these guards were mostly greenhorns never blooded. Just barely bracing themselves to not flee already took great effort.
