The humongous worgen continued, "My name was Ralaar Fangfire. And-"
Mal'Ganis stopped him there, "Was Ralaar Fangfire?"
A terse growl, "A name I willingly gave up."
The dreadlord sensed an unwillingness to expand further.
"I see. What do you go by now?"
"As I was the first and greatest users of the pack form among the Druids of the Scythe, others have come to call me Alpha Prime.", he pointed his snout towards the other nine worgen sitting on the sidelines. "I find it suitable enough."
Mal'Ganis nodded in acknowledgement, but felt the need to learn more about this 'Druids of the Scythe' business.
"The Druids of the Scythe. Do they have something to do with this artifact?"
Alpha Prime's excitement was palpable, "The Scythe of Elune has everything to do with us. I created it with the purpose to mastering our pack form. Yet it did even more. It transformed my fellow pack members and I, into pure embodiments of nature, given physical form."
The demon grew wary again and wanted to confirm, "This transformation directly granted by the Scythe, only affects pack form druids I take it?"
"Yes, this blessing never affected the other druids or night elves."
So he didn't have to worry about being transformed, Mal'Ganis was relieved to hear. You could never tell with some of these powerful relics. But it was time to get back to his original goal.
To learn more of the artifact's powers.
"And the other powers?"
Alpha Prime glared at him, "You haven't agreed to my terms."
This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road. If you spot it on Amazon, please report it.
The demon hadn't, but it had been worth a shot.
"So your terms. The knowledge of the Scythe's powers in exchange for the Scythe when I'm done with it."
Simplistic really. But he wanted more.
"Tell me, Alpha Prime. What is it you want besides the Scythe?"
The worgen's hackles rose and he bared his teeth, "You won't hand it over!?"
Mal'Ganis shook his head, "Thats not what I meant. I'm asking if there's more that you want, because I have further requests. So... is there anything else you desire?"
Alpha Prime settled down once more and fell into thought. But not for long. He had his own question for the dreadlord.
"The night elves. What do you plan to do with the night elves?"
That was easily answered by the demon, "To destroy them if they get in the way. Which they will, so I will."
"I thought so. Then my request is... that to be there when Malfurion dies.", snarled Alpha Prime hatefully.
Mal'Ganis knew who that was. The enigmatic druid counterpart to Tyrande, High Priestess of Elune. Who spent his life inside the Emerald Dream, another realm connected to this one.
Ah, now he understood. Understood where the worgen had crossed over from. The Emerald Dream. Not that he knew anything about it, just that it existed.
But back to the deal at hand. And the naked hate displayed by the worgen. Hate like that could always be exploited.
He just had one more question to confirm Alpha Prime's importance.
"You can communicate with the other worgen, yes?"
Alpha Prime nodded once.
"What of your other pack mates? Can they communicate as you do?"
Alpha Prime hesitated, "They can, but not at all times. The instincts to hunt and eliminate rivals are too strong to suppress when the scent of blood is in the air. I am the only one with full control."
The worgen's value went up further in Mal'Ganis's eyes.
"Then here's my offer. If Malfurion falls to the burning legion, you want to be there. In addition, you want the Scythe of Elune when I leave this world. In return, you tell me everything you know about the Scythe and... you will serve me until I'm done with this world."
He really wanted the ability to craft more complex plans that Alpha Prime would allow him. And he knew the worgen wouldn't be able to refuse.
Even though Mal'Ganis didn't know the story, the hate towards Malfurion was real, and hate was a great motivator. Plus, serving the demon would allow the worgen to stay near the Scythe of Elune.
With a four legged bow, Alpha Prime growled his assent, "I accept."
The demon had gotten what he wanted. It didn't mean he trusted the worgen, not a single bit.
But all the same, the dreadlord smiled victoriously, "Since we are to be working together from now on, you may call me Mal'Ganis."
Then Mal'Ganis got down to the slightly delayed matter, "Now tell me everything about this Emerald Dream, and why the Scythe can access it."
