Information “In This World!”

Amelia had been reading for what seemed like an eternity. She couldn't explain why but she had an unusual urge to read. She found herself amongst 5 piles of books. And in a short space of time, she finished the book she was reading and got up for another one.

As Amelia walked to the bookshelf, she asked herself, What the hell, why am I reading so much? Where's Lucas? I need to get back to him. But when her hand felt the fabric of the book covers, she became entranced and began reading once again.

"BANG!"

Loud crashing sounds came from a distance, shaking Amelia. They got louder and louder as they got closer to her. Amelia looked around frantically, wondering what was going on.

"BANG!"

The bookshelves around her shattered, the force of the explosion sent her flying into the bookshelves. Amelia quickly got a hold of herself and got on her knees, books were scattered across the floor and bookshelves were destroyed everywhere. She reached for her sword when she noticed a figure standing in front of her. To her surprise it was Lucas, looking down at her and laughing, "I've figured it out and I know how we can get out of here."

Amelia, still confused about what happened, replied, "How?"

"By destroying it, or at least, most of it."

"But this place is endless."

"It's not. You see, the books represent the information in this world and not our world," he replied with a smirk, thinking of himself as a genius.

"I don't get it, Luke."

"Uhhh.'' he breathed in, leaning forward and resting his elbow on his knee, "The books contain the information in this world. When I read the books they contained information about the brain and strangely enough, thoughts."

"So, this world is the brain?"

"Exactly, a brain compressed into books and I bet it's this guy's brain."

"So we're trapped in his brain and we're gonna destroy it or most of it?"

"Mhm."

Amelia got up and walked towards some bookshelves, letting out a grim laugh under her breath. "So, let's kill him from the inside."

Before she could dash at the bookshelves, 7 tentacles burst from the wooden roof of the first floor. They moved quickly, four towards Lucas and three at Amelia, She pulled out her sword and slashed all three. To her surprise, they regenerated quickly and lunged at her once again. Meanwhile, Lucas had dealt each of the four tentacles a blow such that they were ripped apart, however, they regenerated quickly and lunged at him once again.

Amelia was locked in combat. She jumped to avoid the tentacle that tried to trip her but was met with the other two tentacles going straight for her head, so she slashed them, but the one she had previously evaded wrapped around her leg and flung her into the bookshelf.

She sat up, her head staggering, "Something's wrong, my movement was way off." Dizziness overtook her as she got on her knees. The tentacles were no longer attacking her; they simply hovered in the air. Lucas also experienced the same dizziness. Suddenly, something bursts a wider hole in the roof. And out of it came a human's head, attached to a massive blob of skin like the skin of the tentacles. It curved its body as it came out of the hole, causing its head to be upright.

The human head now looked at them and said, "Yall are starting to feel it now huh, that urge to gain knowledge is taking a toll on you. How many books have you read?"

"None," Lucas shouted.

"Same here, I knew there was something off about your books so I didn't read any of them!" she answered harshly, looking at the monster in disgust.

"Is that so…? LIARS, you read too many, but it's not about the books. Just being here forces you to take in information."

Amelia widened her eyes and recalled how she kept reading for some reason, then the creature continued, "Remember how I said this library makes reading easier? The moment you entered this place you've been taking in information and now your brain is starting to fry."

Blood began to run from Amelia's nose, she wiped it and looked at the monster, her mind filling with vengeance. For a moment she forgot about the dizziness and airy feeling and simply darted at the monstrous being. Simultaneously Lucas did the same, but immediately the tentacles stopped them, wrapped around their necks, and raised them into the air.

Amelia choked, gulping and gasping for air. Her weak hands calmly tapped the tentacle demanding that they let her go. She looked across at Lucas and opened her eyes wide. Lucas was also choking in the air. Seeing this made her give up, as her eyes closed, the monster spoke, "That's right, this is the end of the road, once your brains in the real world burst from the information overload, I'll feast on your XP! what a morbid way to die." After saying that, he lets out a wicked giggle.

However, before he could finish giggling, a long sword ripped through the library, creating a massive hole; crushing the bookshelves in its path. Simultaneously, the creature began ripping apart, blood spewing from all over its body. The tentacles weakened and let go of Amelia and Lucas. As they fell the world started to eat away, the bookshelves, roofs, and floors all disappeared, then suddenly, their consciousness returned to their bodies in the real world.

Amelia, who slouched in a chair, sat up suddenly and looked around. The dizziness and blurry eyes were still affecting her. As it wears off, she noticed a man in a chair next to her, with Trent standing next to him. He had a long black-handle sword through the side of the man's head.

"What's going on here?" he asked as Lucas, who was sitting next to Amelia, regained consciousness.

"We were trapped in a non-physical world," she answers, still trying to get herself together.

"A non-physical world?"

"Yea."

"Did you see this guy by any chance?"

Amelia looked at the man, "No, but a creature was about to kill us when a massive sword suddenly appeared and destroyed the place."

"Did it look like this sword?"

"Yea."

"Then, I made the right guess when I killed him."

"Killed him? You only stabbed him once." Amelia answered as she got up from her seat.

"I coated my sword with poison before I stabbed him, that's why he isn't regenerating."

"I see. By the way, did you see when he trapped us?"

Trent looked down at the man and he pulled the sword out of his head, "Naw, I woke up braced against a wall about 10 minutes ago."

"So you're in the dark also."

"Yup."

Lucas got out of his seat and said."There's no use trying to get to the bottom of this. I think he was able to erase some of our memories. Let's just get to the electrical room."

"I agree" Ameia answered as they exited the room.
