As i sit while enjoying my food, i take the hunter's journal for some reading, from the thickness of it he only hunt specific monster as all monster I've seen never mentioned in the journal except Tidalark. Maybe they're exotic or alpha perhaps because of their rarity, after all humans are not so different.

After a little bit more reading as i digest my food, I'm trying to fly without physical movements now with only magic. Control my gravity to reverse it then with field of compressed air around me that protect me from air resistance while i can use it too to shoot small burst of it from any direction of my body to make me move around. For prolonged rapid movement i can use jet propulsion to maneuver myself.

Ways for self defense, information gathering even movement, basic needs for traveling are now attained. With this i can tackle whatever this have for me, i hope, i wish, perhaps.... No I'm sure! Confidence that's what i needed now and just a little bit socialize this world inhabitants i can adjust with this new life.

It's always hard for the first time isn't it, new job, new life, new home, new family, new mision, whatever is it, always hard. Only time can tell when we get used to it or accept it.

While I'm contemplating on my new life, i soar up into the sky to observe the city without be discovered from their guards on the wall. It's a lake city big enough to be called like that, with lake that big, fishing must flourishing there as i see carriages going in and out of the city. As i get closer i can see another river wide enough for two galleon sized ship sail through it.

With the port facing West and gates at the other points of compass, this city must be a hubs for goods distribution. With three walls, outside, middle, and inner then the roads that went straight from the gate until the inner wall must be their way to ease this city busy traffic.

When i reach straight above the castle in the inner wall, i observe four districts separated by the roads. Northeast on the outside of middle wall are for warehouses, inside of it are stores. Southeast respectively outside and inside of middle wall are taverns, pub and inn, housing area. Northwest and Southwest instead, in the middle wall are government like building, like city hall, barracks but there's even blacksmith there. While the outside of middle wall are same like the inside but there's no one using uniform.

Wait, looks like they're mercenaries, while the soldiers only have sword at their hip except the guards that patrolling, the mercenaries have all kind of weapons from spear, bow, hammer, great sword, you name it. They're varies while the soldiers are more orderly.

With the information acquired, i fly on the far east of the city as they have less more traffic than the other roads. After i confirmed there will no one pass i landed quickly on the road. After that i walk leisurely to the gate.

It seems i got my timing right as i approach the gate right after the guards finished checking the caravan after me. As I'm excited for meeting this world people i forgot that i have no money, usually they taxed people when they go in, before i can think any excuse the guard call me.

"You, what's your name?"

"Uhh... Ed..."

"Just 'Ed'?"

"Yeah.."

"All right then."

The guard, maybe 1.9m(6.2ft) tall black eyes, tanned, said this to me. Shoot! i just reply suddenly, well it's ok, Ed is still my name and it's easier to remember or maybe too generic then be forgotten, doesn't matter. It's just what other people call me. The guard write something on the plank he carries then ripped off something from it to give it to me.

"Here."

"What's this?"

"You don't know? hmm, well there's no one behind you. I'll explain it a little, listen up."

He then lecture me about the ingenuity of the new Lord, looks like he likes to talk, well standing here for hours can be boring, let's just listen. The new Lord of the city are not picked with heritage but votes that chose from four founding family of the city, whoever is it as long as they have blood connection to the family they can be chosen.

The Bazzan, Rohrun, Ziyan and Irgail have been work together since its founding to keep the city economic stable whatever the Empire state is. Phew, that's one hell of introduction for a city, well for their citizens they must be proud of their of city especially how hard it is to travel from one to another with technology they have. Looks i concluded too fast about this world technology as large shadow cloud me after i pass the gate, i thought it was just a cloud but no, it was a cruiser size ship like Titanic goes over the city to the lake.

When it's start to land i can see there's no chimney on it just like modern cruiser, there's balloon, large propeller or magic crystal beside it. If it's one the water I can't tell if it can fly or don't. As expected magic are advanced technology, they just utilize it more to not need invented things that magic can mostly do.

As i start to walk i noticed there a large fountain in front of me with stalls opposite of the road around it, they're selling food, drinks, even stuff that are not for consumption like accessories and tools. While looking around like many people/humanoid like me, i found variety of races here minding their own business. As i don't have any money with me i don't need to worry about pickpockets.

Right next the fountain, there's a notice board a little taller than me with it a lot of papers nailed on it inform us about news, work notices, caravan schedule and request of help from the citizen like a boy does right next to me. With three people arm length wide, this board fit for more notices like that.

Hmmm let's see... looks like they solved my problem already or our problems traveler, as many of us needs job when coming to the city this board introduce us to our expertise which affiliation we are needed. There are many jobs that listed here, to delivery, hunting, clerk even fantasy occupation. Like healer, alchemist, diviner and more.

Let's try delivery first, they have valid rules it seems. I have to register at the Courier guild first to affirm my identity it says, the map on the board tells me that one of many branch of courier guild closest from this gate, on my left. It's a two storey building with double door that many people pass through it. Above the door there's a image of parcel with wings between 'Courier Guild'.

There's a lot of people going in and out so me entering are just any other person, the notice tell me just go straight one of reception for more information. While looking around i pick one that empty of queue as some of them are empty, with many of them line up anyone needs seems fulfilled quickly. A woman with blonde long hair, green eyes, pointy ears with same height as me around 1.8m (5.9ft).

"Anything i can help you with, sir..." She with smiles questioning me.

"Ed, the notice says easy work in here, so here i am first time to the city, i hope i can learn what is where while working as courier."

"I see... sir Ed but your outfit are fitting as a hunter why don't you find your way there?"

"As i said, i don't know my way around here, that's why i chose this job. Is there a problem?", As i said this her smile disappear.

"Because, first, you look wealthy enough to not work in here as most applicants are beggars or refugee then you're fit enough to do more taxing work plus you're smart enough in your reasoning to pick this job. So yeah there is a problem, you might be a spy." She said this while her face approach mine slowly then she whisper the last sentence.

"What? Really? Am i that shady to you?" Surprised, i just blurt it out. Then i hear someone laughing behind me. As who is it, a young man looks exactly like the woman in front of me.

"Just kidding, mister Ed, i just like teasing firstimer, your curiosity are genuine indeed, we elves are sensitive to malice and we don't sense any from you. You can register here, wait a minute." She said that with smile like before while turning her on me to get something on the shelf behind her.

"What? We? What do yo-"

"She means me, Ed, name's Daril I'm her twin, she do that every time when someone like you pick her, hahaha, never gets old even after hundred years. As for me, I'm gonna show you the ropes, you're newcomer right? I'll show you which is which so the delivery don't get lost, it's a big city.", He said while pointing things around me.

"Here we go, now you just need to touch this plate and say your name. My name Dia by the way.", The receptionist says after bringing a glass like board to the table.

As i do what she told me to the board shine a bit the shows my name, something like a date that shows '23/07/1132 A.E' and two digit numbers. Then the twin stared at it while confused, then they asked me if i use any accessories when i said no, they looked at each other then just shrug their shoulder.

Then they welcomes me to the Courier Guild, shakes my hand, give me a pamphlet when i touch this one too shines showing the same information on its cover with what the board has and they explained to me that it will show me where I'm in this city, with each page it shows each outer and inner city except behind the inner wall where the four family reside.

It looks like a GPS but with no zoom function and no destination mark, so it make sense even with this some courier might get lost with how crowded the buildings around here.

"You're lucky mister Ed, usually Daril here busy going around from one city to another then because there's no emergency delivery for him today and it's look like he finished his last task for today. He's eager to show you around.", Dia said with questioning look on her brother who rush to her while i step to the side.

"Here's proof from Bazak,Parhol and Entelegia. Safely delivered to each one of them.", Daril said while giving her sheets of paper. Then she checks them one by one then give him same amount of gold coins with the papers.

I see roughly 2cm(0.7in) in diameter coin with intricate engraving that different on each side on it. Hmmm, coin based economy, i see, maybe there's magic or anything like imprinting that record its distribution so it's hard to counterfeit like that pamphlet. I just touched it and indeed it shows where i am as i flipping it around while listening the twin bantering about something. Then Dia talk to me.

"Mister Ed for your first task here i have a package compiled of reports for the city hall, you just to take it there then tell the staff there it's from Courier Guild then you're done.", Dia said as she give me a shoulder bag with guild logo on it. Then Daril tell me to meet him at the entrance as he walk that way.

From start to finish my registration doesn't take too much time but guild are getting more crowded as more people lined up behind me. So i said thanks to Dia then head to the entrance while looking around inside of the building. With 70% of it are for the receptions with stair on both end sides of it then large board on all the empty wall, right, left and between the entrance. There's more people in front of them instead in the line. As i reach the entrance not far away from it on the left there's Daril waiting for me.

"There you are, took you long enough, first time seeing it? Okay then next stop City Hall!"
