Spirits are a part of the mind and the soul of people, they reside in the dantian and are awakened by the Ki when a core it's created. Spirits are divided in 4 types. Beast spirits, Xinling spirits, Elemental spirits and Weapon spirits. Beast spirits are spirits that take a form to help the cultivator in combat directly, they are like a loyal tamed beast, they can be weak and useless like a Blue Stink Cockroach or can be mystical and immortal like the Lightning Steel Phoenix. The Xinling spirits are spirits that give the cultivator control of a type of mind power, they range from the pointless automatic writing to the exceptionally rare energy medicine. Elemental spirits give the control over a certain element like water and fire but they don't modify the type of KI you have, instead if you have a type of elemental spirit and you nurture him a different type of Ki the spirit will be affected by the Ki (if a water spirit is feed fire Ki then you would receive a water/fire spirit) , but it is known that if you have the same type of elemental spirit and elemental ki your power will advance by leaps and bounds. The weapon spirits are spirits that take the form of an item that correspond to the personality and soul of the user, if a farmer awakened his spirit he might have a farmer scythe weapon spirit but if instead a venomous and sly person awaken his spirit he might have a poisonous dagger.
"Mother this time the cold didn't come from the stomach! It came from the dantian!"
What Chi Lang meant was that the 'Blood Chilling Cold' usually doesn't diffuse from the dantian but from the stomach, at least this was in his case.
"What do you mean by your spirit causing it?! You still didn't reach the Core Forming Stage! How could a non awakened spirit cause it?! "
Chi Lang mother name was Heng Mei Ling and like her name says she had a beautiful and kind spirit, she was the sister of the city lord Heng Tai Jun, when she was younger she fell in love with the young patriarch of the Chi clan Chi Luo Ron and since their status permitted their union, they married.
Heng Mei Ling was puzzled by her son, from 2 weeks ago he started going to the forest to train everyday and every time he returned he was bloodied and had broken bones and even his personality changed drastically. The old Chi Lang was an optimist and serene person, even tought he had a grave disease and little to no talent in cultivation he was always smiling and said 'It's alright mother, I will put more effort and win over them' every time he said that to her, her heart ached like it was stung by a million needles. But now her son was emotionless and was pushing himself to the maximum managing even to injure himself to death. How could she not worry?
"It's probably my spirit trying to awakening, mother."
Said Chi Lang with a wry smile to his mother.
A precocious awakening!
These words hit Heng Mei Ling like a cold shower in a blizzard. Tears returned to her pretty face. How could she not know what a precocious awakening was? Didn't her little brother die because he had a precocious awakening? Was there someone that survived a precocious awakening? No there isn't any record of someone surviving a precocious awakening! Was the hate of the heaven toward her son so much that on top of a killer disease and no talent he had to receive a sure death factor like the precocious awakening? Yes it's probably that! But Heng Mei Ling knew that it isn't wise to put every fault on the heaven and don't do anything to cure the problem. But she knew that curing the Precocious Awakening is like wanting to freeze a blazing flame.
A precocious awakening happen when a spirit tries to awaken before the Core Forming Stage but the body doesn't have the power to stand the stress of an expanding spirit making the dantian explode from the intern. The precocious awakening is caused in the majority of the causes by the Spirit managing to absorb the earth Ki by himself.
"It's alright mother, I'll manage don't be sad"
Chi Lang looked at her eyes and said with an honest smile that warmed Heng Mei Ling heart. But she was still very worried about her son, he was very fragile and loving she loved him even more than her other children.
Chi Lang was thinking about a solution to his death sentence. If the heaven decided that he had to die then he would challange them till the end!
A smile formed on Chi Lang lips.
"Then I have to reach the core formation stage before my spirit awakens! "
Chi Lang voice was soft but still resounded in the room. Heng Mei Ling was startled. She knew that this was the only method to avoid death but wanted to avoid it because it was nearly impossible. By reaching the Core formation stage the body would then awaken the spirit normally and there would be little risk. But was it really that easy to reach the core formation stage in so little time? How could it be that easy, when even the geniuses of the Chi clan toke 1 year from the 2000 Jin stage to the core formation stage! And even if she didn't want to think about it, her son talent was really bad!
"Chi Lang you make me worry! How can you develop so much strength in so little time when even your elder brother took 10 months to advance to the Core formation stage?! "
Chi Lang looked in his mother eyes and made a wry smile thinking about how even his mother thought that his talent was a lot inferior to that of his brother. Chi Lang was secretly envious about how his brother was prided by the family. Chi Lang shook his head to send away the feelings of Jealousy and looked at his mother with a serious and loving gaze.
"Mother don't worry. Did I, Chi Lang, ever lied to you? If mother ever said 'The heaven shall fall tomorrow!' then this unworthy son of yours shall make it fall! If mother says to Chi lang 'You shall survive' , then Chi Lang shall survive and return stronger than ever! "
Chi Lang was serious about what he said. The previous owner of the body was someone who loved his family strongly but didn't have the willpower to demonstrate it. The old Chi Lang had incredible willpower of someone who survived and conquered the void. These two emotions combined in the new Chi Lang and now he would do anything to make his family happy.
Heng Mei Ling was strongly moved by her son words. It's true that her son didn't ever make a void promise, so if he said that he would reach the Core Formation stage in time then she would believe that he would reach it!

Chi Lang took almost a week to recover. Chi Lang spent this recovery time thinking about why did his spirit awaken so early, he came to the unique conclusion that can be only happen in his case. The void! The spirits don't need the core formation stage to awaken. They need Ki! Didn't the equilibrium Ki transfer from his soul to the dantian ? Then what if a part of the Equilibrium Ki managed to escape the lock and got absorbed by the Spirit in his dantian ? Wouldn't his spirit try to awaken? But then what caused the previous cases of Blood Chilling Cold? Were they really caused by a disease or is there something else causing it?
Chi Lang came to the conclusion that he had to advance even more quickly because if the equilibrium Ki got absorbed again then his spirit would probably awaken completely and he would die again but this time there probably wouldn't be the void but real death.
"Haa Haa"
Chi Lang was breathing with difficulties while he was running at a speed that seemed almost as if he was strolling a little faster than the usual. On his back was the dimensional bag that weighted over 800 Jin. After coming to the conclusion that he needed to advance even faster he had put even more weight on the bag and started training.
Chi Lang stopped running along the border of the forest, he didn't dare to go over to the forest again, or at least he had to wait until he was stronger. Chi Lang went cautiously a little toward the forest and laid on the grass on his stomach. After taking some time to regain his breath, he put his palms on the grassy ground and started pushing, when he arrived to the point where his hands were extended he then would descend to the ground again then redo the cycle again from zero putting attention to not curve his back. He was doing push-ups. After sixty or so push-ups his body didn't manage to resist anymore and fell on the ground with a heavy THUD. Chi Lang was grasping for air but the air never seemed enough so he continued like that for another 10 minutes.
When his body stabilized he then started running again but this time his speed was a little faster than the previous almost walking speed. After another 30 minutes of running he fell to the ground on his stomach grasping for air another time.
"Haa Haa"
Chi Lang breath was ragged and the longer he strained his body the more ragged his breath became and the more his body ached. But Chi Lang knew that the pain was a signal of the mind showing that he was advancing. So he continued even when he was almost dying.
Chi Lang turned around and laid down on his back at 180 degrees, then raised his legs by 30 degrees. Chi Lang then put his hands crossed on his chest and started raising his head toward the heaven after reaching his peak he fell down to the earth and started raising his head toward the sky again.
Chi Lang continued doing sit-ups until he fell to the ground motionless. His muscles were burning as if his veins were transporting molten iron instead of blood.
This was was the routine of Chi Lang after the attack. He decided to postpone his return to the Sect by another week to enhance his strength even further. Chi Lang strength rose by leaps and bounds again in the last week he was already at 1050 Jin stage! But his goal was the Core Formation Stage and this speed was too low for him. If someone ever heard this then they would certainly think that Chi Lang is crazy! Enhancing his strength by 50 Jin without having entered the Earth Realm in a week is already crazy. How could he want more?
Chi Lang decided to enhance his training by the most difficult and fast method known. Fighting! It is widely known that one would have breakthroughs and enhance his strength by battles between life and death, it is also known that the best opponents are the beasts. The beasts widely differ in types and strength. There are terrestre beast like Xing Lions and Shadow Wind Panthers, avian beasts like the Sky Soaring Shark or the Glacial Lord Eagle, there are even water beasts at the northern Everlasting Sea but those beasts aren't known because everyone that saw them wouldn't return to recount it, even the emperor wouldn't dare to be careless in the Everlasting Sea.
Beasts are animals that can cultivate. Beasts that have already created a core are subdivided in 3 known realms: Yi Realm is equivalent to the human Earth Realm, Liang Realm is equivalent to the human Sky Realm, lastly the San Realm is equivalent to the Heaven Realm.
It is widely known that even if the beast cultivation is similar to that of the pratictioner usually the beast would still be stronger than the cultivator. The beasts have a heavenly gift of a body and a style of combat that widely differs between species. A cultivator can't get used to a myriad of different styles of combat, it's simply impossible.
But before going to train in the wilderness near his house, Chi Lang had to learn a method to attack.
It was the time to learn a skill!
The memories that he gained from the void were full of memories of immortal cultivators that soared the sky and walked on the bottom of the seas killing everything that stood in their path by a twitch of hand. But a certain memory or to be precise memories gained his attention. They were memories of a world where there wasn't any type of Ki or energy other than the life energy. The people of that world developed technologies of flying birds of iron and boxes of steel and vapor that raced faster than the winds they called them 'Airplanes' and 'Cars'. In this world there was a certain secular clan of heavenly warriors that forged their body to the point of challenging void by ripping the space apart with only the strength of their muscles and their heavenly techniques. They managed to conquer the void like Chi Lang. They later created techniques by utilizing the Equilibrium Ki but the basic were technique of raw strength. Every time one of them was to die he would return to the void. Because everything that is taken from the void shall return to the void.
They called themselves Xukong Yongshi, the Void Warriors.
