Chapter 2: Let's Enter The Game!

Chapter 2: Let's Enter The Game!

The red car parked in front of a white, middle-class home in a quiet neighborhood. Trevor hopped out and walked up the steps, and tried to open the door, only to realize that it was locked. His mom came up with the key.

"Calm down," his mom said. "The game's not going anywhere."

They went inside the house, and Trevor practically ran up the steps and into his room. He turned the light, dropped his backpack near his bed, and sat at his computer, which he turned just by wiggling his mouse, since he left it on all day. He instantly popped the disc in the DVD drive on his computer, summoning a pop-up that appeared in the middle of the screen.

It read: Game Downloading... 1%

As it loaded, he went on his phone, and quickly received a text from Devante. He texted with him for a few minutes before looking at his screen again, to see that the game was now on 90%.

"Hey, the installation is 90% complete!" he texted.

Devante texted, "Oh crap! It's almost done!"

He looked up at the screen and saw that it was finished. He texted Devante back and turned off his phone before he even got a reply. He turned on his Portal, and then saw the FunDrive login pop up on his screen. He typed his username, Rovert, and then his password, and then turned on the Portal, connecting it to his computer via Bluetooth.

He smirked. "Here we go!"

He put on the headset, and he saw a copyright warning screen and the FunDrive logo afterwards before he quickly found himself standing inside the game's menu. The Fight of the Knights logo was plastered over a picture of a vacant medieval village. He looked down at his feet and hands, then tapped the Start button.

He then suddenly disappeared, and immediately reappeared in an avatar selection area. It showed him knight armor, with a chart full of colors next to it. He walked towards it and pressed yellow. At the blink of an eye, his clothes suddenly turned into yellow knight armor. He looked down at his feet and arms, and quickly realized he was wearing a helmet.

"This is coo-" He was cut off when he vanished from the area.

The newly-armored yellow knight appeared in a vacant medieval-style town. The sky was pitch black, and there was a full moon. In his vision was an HP bar on the bottom left corner with his username below it, and on the top left were the amount of coins he had, which was 600, just for being a new player.

"Uh, hello?" Trevor yelled. "Anyone around?"

A knight in the same colored armor as him suddenly appeared, much to his shock.

"Greetings, Rovert," he said. "Welcome to Fight of the Knights, where players all over the world battle against each other in various ways! My name is Sir Duncan, and I will guide you through a tutorial that will familiarize you with this game. Now, are you ready?"

"Sure, I guess..." Trevor said.

Sir Duncan smiled. "Great! Put on your visor and we'll be on our way."

Trevor raised an eyebrow. "My what?"

Sir Duncan walked over and slid his visor on, and they both teleported out of the village and appeared inside a dark castle, with the only light being fire torches on the wall.

Trevor looked at his hand, noticing he was holding a sword. "Why am I holding this?"

"Surely you know knights can't fight without swords," Sir Duncan replied.

"Yeah, that makes sense," Trevor replied.

Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.

Sir Duncan walked over to a shelf filled with swords, potions, and other necessities. "Come over here, Rovert. These will be useful for you in battle."

Trevor walked over and saw all of the weapons, but one quickly caught his attention. It is a black sword, engulfed in a dark purple aura. Once he snatched it up, a pop-up appeared in his vision that read: Demon Sword, 50 coins.

He tried walking away without paying, and the sword teleported back to its original spot on the shelf.

Sir Duncan said, "You cannot just take them, Rovert. You have to pay for it with your coins. I believe you're aware of that."

He went back for the sword, and paid for it, leaving him with 550 coins. He then swung it around with enough force for it to escape his hand. But it flew around like a boomerang before coming back to him and hitting him on the head, then falling to the floor. He picked it up and observed it with an astonished look.

"That's one of the features of the Demon Sword," Sir Duncan added. "When you throw it, it flies like a boomerang, and slays any enemy in its way."

"Sweet!" Trevor said.

The door to the castle opened and they walked outside to a large medieval battlefield. Far away was another castle where the enemy knights reside. There were trees far away, and the moon was in the sky.

Suddenly, a horde of knights on horse made their way out of the castle. Trevor found himself surrounded in knights on horses that appeared out of nowhere. A horse quickly materialized in front of him, and he hopped onto it.

"Alright, let's do this!" the boy said.

The two knight armies rode towards each other, and started fighting. Sword clanging and screams of pain could be heard. Everyone on Trevor's side was fighting, all except him. He was just riding around the area.

That was, until he saw a knight coming his way. Out of fear, he threw the Demon Sword at him. It spun around and decapitated the knight before returning to his hand. His body fell off his horse, and both glitched up and disappeared.

"Sweet!" the boy said. "First kill!"

He was now already liking what he was doing. He rode around the field, and tossed the Demon Sword again. He watched in awe as it spun around like a boomerang, killing every knight that was in its way. Plenty of dead knights and their horses vanished from the field. Once it returned to his hand, he went around killing them with all his might.

But then, the knights he killed suddenly came out of the castle as if they'd never been killed.

"Oh, right," Trevor said. "It's a video game."

The boy looked at his inventory, and saw a bow and arrow, along with a little fireball, which he tapped on. Alas, a sphere of fire appeared in his hand, much to his surprise. But he quickly calmed himself down, and threw it at the knights. It burnt them and their horses, and they disappeared. Another one immediately appeared in his hand, and he kept throwing more and more, immolating all the enemies.

He then turned around and rode towards the castle, only to see another horde of knights riding out.

"Geez!" he said. "How many of these guys are there?"

"A countless amount," Sir Duncan replied. "You need to get used to this if you're going up against actual skilled players."

The knights came together and raised their arms, forming one massive fireball that floated above the whole army. It lit up the whole area. Trevor's jaw dropped before he even knew it.

"What the fuck is that?!" he exclaimed.

They threw it, but it flew past Trevor and his team, but they all scattered before it landed and exploded massively, sending out a wind blast.

Trevor and his horse went flying into the air, and he fell of its back, much to his fear. He screamed his head off as he descended towards the ground, until another horse ran and caught him.

"Woah," he said. "Where'd you come from?"

"Fire!" one of the enemy knights yelled.

They all started shooting flaming arrows that exploded on contact with the ground. Trevor and his team rode around the field, dodging all of these exploding arrows. They kicked up rocks, dust, and used or broken weapons from the ground. It was so strong, Trevor didn't know how to deal with it.

They then turned around and stopped. Trevor panted, both out of exhaustion and fear.

"What the hell do we do?" he said.

Sir Duncan smiled at him. "Look at your inventory."

Trevor did as he said, and saw a red button with the letter "G" on it next to his rectangular inventory box. He tapped on it, and a fireball appeared in his hand. He gasped as it suddenly grew to the size of a dinosaur.

"Holy..." he said.

"Rovert!" Sir Duncan said, pointing at the incoming knights.

With a smirk on his face, Trevor and his army rode towards the knights, dodging all of their flaming arrows.

The boy screamed as he threw the giant fireball with powerful force. It monstrously exploded, wiping all of the knights out and blowing their castle into bits. The aftermath was a huge fog of steam that eventually disappeared. The word Defeat appeared in front of the pile of rubble that was once the enemy's castle, while Victory appeared in front of the castle Trevor departed from.

Sir Duncan walked up to Trevor and said, "Nice work, Rovert."

"Hey," Trevor replied. "We did it together."

The castles suddenly vanished, and everything on the field began gradually disappearing in pillars of white light.

"You will now be sent to the town, where you will see other players," Sir Duncan said. "Good luck on your future battles."

"Thank you," the boy said before vanishing like everything else on the battlefield.
