VF - CHAPTER 7
When I arrived at the teleportation station in the city of Rayan, all attention turned to me. The players looked at me as if I was some kind of rare animal. This is uncomfortable, receiving this many gazes.
"Is that him?"
"Yeah, I think so. Just look at his title."
"He doesn't look that great, and he's short."
"Ahh, that's ... I heard that Indonesians are the shortest people in the world."
"What so great about him, he's just a lucky bastard doing a rare quest. If we kill him and take his quest ..."
Some people talk behind me. At first, I ignored them, but when I heard the word 'kill', I paid attention. I feel this is important, and my life is in danger if I ignore it.
Is it because of my title? Then, should I take it off? When I think about it, I choose the option to hide my title. But some people already saw me and my title. They stalked me in the city, and they have no intention to hide it from me. It scared me. As if I become a movie star avoiding paparazzi or something.
I ran away from them, running toward where this footstep took.
"Chase him!"
"The f*k, where did he go!"
"Run, don't let him escape!"
"Crazy arrogant fella, you can't run away from us, the Golden Beetle!"
'Shit, when I've become arrogant and crazy? I'm totally sane and humble. You are the one who's crazy! And when did I provoke you guys? This doesn't make sense!'
While thinking so, I run from those players. I don't know what they are aiming for. But with how vulgar their word, and the glare in their eyes, even I can see that they have bad intentions.
When I turn in the alley, I see another group of people. What is this, are they also after me and want to kill me?
But their identity. All of them have a red and white flag in their name!
"Fear not my fellow countryman! Because of we, Pasukan Indonesia Merdeka! Have come to protect you from those foreigners bastard!"
One of them said it's a tall middle-aged man with dark skin. His muscle is awesome, and with his short-cut hair, he seems intimidating.
And then he shouted.
"Everyone, charge! Merdeka!"
""Merdeka!!!"" they wield their weapons and charged into the players who chase me.
This scene left me dumbfounded. What the hell with this over nationalism group of people? I believe that people in my country are not some hot-headed people who will shout 'Merdeka' or anything. Hey, we have gained freedom from colonialization since hundred years ago, so stop it. How embarrassing.
"Nice to meet you, Explorer Zaki! I'm Haryo, the leader of Pasukan Indonesia Merdeka. We heard that some people are targeting you in the city, so we immediately come to this place and decided to help you."
Another middle-aged man with short and thin stature approach me. I can see his name and level, his name is Haryo like he introduced and the level is 15. Oh, so he has changed his job. I wonder what job did he choose.
"Ah, nice to meet you too. I'm Zaki, thank you for your help this time. But, this made me puzzled."
"Ohh, what is it?"
"Why they are targeting me? I can't think any reason for this many people doing that."
The players who chasing me, they numbered over 200. With this many people, I'm curious why they do it.
"Ohh .., they have nothing better to do. That's all."
"Is that so? I see ..." It seems I can't get an answer from this middle-aged man.
He glanced at me again and said.
"Little bro Zaki, you have not changed your class yet?"
"Class? Do you mean Job? No, I haven't." He mistook the job for a class. Well, it's more like synonym so there's no point arguing over it.
"If you haven't done it, then please immediately do so. We'll cover you up from here, head to the building called Adventurer Hall and choose your trainer to change class."
"Okay, I'll immediately go there. And, thank you again for this."
"No worries, I expect great things from you. You brought pride to our country."
Even though I didn't know what he was talking about, I could somehow feel his happiness.
I headed to the Adventurer Hall. It was a stone building, the biggest structure in the street. Well, the Palace in the center of the city was the biggest, but this one was also a majestic building.
The majestic stone structure was many times greater than Borobudur temple. Nah, I compared the wrong building. This building has a style that of gothic cathedral building. Black stone pillar with the arching doorway, it was a majestic sight to behold. I have never been into Deutschland before, but this building looks like Kölner Dom I saw on the internet.
Inside there is a room like a lobby with many people lining up in front of the reception desk. I was expecting a big room or something, but this is not what I expected. But, whatever ..., I walked in and joined the people who were waiting in line. After waiting for a while, it was finally my turn.
Smiling at the NPC receptionist, I greeted and said my business.
"Good afternoon, can I ask where I can take the Job Change Quest?"
"Oh, welcome. If you want to change your Job, please head to the second floor and talk to the Trainer. Is that all?" business-like tone.
It's not bad, it is showing her professionalism. But I prefer a little warmer. Seeing a beautiful girl like her saying such an emotionless word to me is painful enough. I'm a virgin and single, please be careful when you talk with me. Ah, shit here we go again.
"Okay, thank you ..., and do you buy herb and medicine?"
"You want to sell items? Then please go to Exchange Table there for a transaction." she pointed another table.
I nodded and said my thanks, "I see. Thank you miss, I'll be leaving then."
"Your welcome, next please."
I went up to the second floor. This floor has more people compared to the first floor. It was because this floor also serves as a bar and restaurant. There's also NPC with [Trainer] title on their head.
The trainer NPCs stand in front of a stall. It seems that they also sell these products to players. Their products are related to the Job they train. [Trainer] - Sword sells items such as swords and blade, while [Trainer]-Hunt sells items related to archery. I think I got the point.
[Trainer]-Sword was the most popular of them. While the second is [Trainer]-Spell. Ahh, in the non-combat section the popular were [Trainer]-Gold and [Trainer]-Smith. But, there's also some who didn't have anyone lining in front of them. It was [Trainer]-Instrument, [Trainer]-Orb and [Trainer]-Flask.
There's a total of 20 starting Jobs. Even when the PV said this game has unlimited Job to play. But the starting job is only this. Unless a player somehow found a hidden starting job, they have to play with this starting job at least until the Job leveled up to level 5. But, the chance of finding a hidden job right from the start was almost nil.
After a Job reached level 5, the player can take another Job Change Quest. From what I have read in the guide, players could take at least 20 Jobs before reaching the maximum level cap of 100. If we take Novice as a job, then the maximum level cap is 110, but Novice serves as a tutorial and starting point, and it didn't have many bonuses as the other jobs.
The maximum level of a Job is 25. A player can learn the ultimate skill of the Job when they maxed the Job Level. However, if a player maxed their Job's level when the level cap of a character is only 100, it means that the character will only have 4 Job at most. And that is not something preferable. More Job means they learned more skills. If they only have 4 jobs, then they will only learn 4 types of professional skills at most.
Well, it's not something that will happen in the near future so I should care less about those. Now, I will choose my starting Job. But what should I choose?
I use a spear as my weapon on the tutorial battlefield. But that's because it's the weapon I can use the most. Thanks to the Pencak Silat training I did back in high school, I'm a bit familiar with the art of spear.
But I did not want to become a spearman. Yes, the spear can reach a far wider range of attacks than other weapons, but that is too ordinary. Well, in the first place, I prefer non-combat more. Besides, production-related Job will make me wealthier.
Yes, I have to pay back what I owe to that Daniel bastard. This Neu-net I use, I never considered it as my own. My conscience told me it was his, and he just lent it to me. And with that, it's normal for me to think a way of paying him back.
But how can I pay him when I am still in college without a job? And the answer to that is RMT. I'll make some items in the game and then sell it as real money. Maybe I will be a millionaire with just selling potions. Far from capable of paying back what I owe, I still have money to spare. When I get rich, I'll get myself a house, car, and girlfriend.
Damn, what a wistful delusion. Be realistic now, Zaki. Calm down and think about the more reachable future. Production related Job seems more profitable than combat one. But in the guide and discussion, the success rate of brewing potion, or any crafting related skill is very low. Will it profitable?
Better I ask someone who knows more.
"Before this ..., I got herb related skill, I think I can become a Pharmacist."
I head to [Trainer] - Flask, the most unpopular man on this floor. I saw some people out of curiosity approaching [Trainer] - Instrument and [Trainer] - Orb, but no one came to this hunchback old man back.
Name Flask Level 40 Job Alchemist Title Trainer - (4 other) Health ???/??? Magic ???/? Stamina ???/??? Skill ???
Is it different from Pharmacist? Maybe it's the higher grade Job or something.
If you discover this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation.
"Ohh ..., I smell a rather nostalgic fragrant from you. Jeruk Fruit? No, is it Sirih Leaf?" asked the old man still closing his eyes. His thin figure with hand on a walking stick looks frail and pitiful.
"As expected of a trainer, you can distinguish between herbs only by its smell." I boot-licked him.
"No no no, I'm just old bone. My abilities are deteriorating the more time passed. I hope someone will replace me for my time almost end."
"What, don't say such thing, Mister. Please live a long and healthy life. Don't give up just yet!"
"Hahaha ..., that's true, young man, I hope I live a long and healthy life, but that's all in the past. Nowadays I feel pain even when I'm trying to walk. But forget about me, what is it, do you want to do Job Change Quest?"
"Yes, please let me learn from you."
"Great. Before you learn what my trade, you have to prove yourself. Gather ten types of herb and come back to me."

You learned Herb Identification.
"Ohh ... I see that you have done some homework before coming to see me. Great ... for the next, yes ..., you must remember more than hundreds of herb with their effects. Go and identify hundreds of herb, it will prove beneficial if you know what are you handling."
Job Change Quest (II)
Difficulty: Job Change
Use Herb Identification on 100 herbs or more.
Progress [0/100]
Reward: Old Herbalist Kit.

Well ..., this is a quest after all. I must do an errand for him. Lucky that I finish the first one. But a hundred ..., this is one hell of a job.
"I'll take my leave then."
"Aa ..., be careful on your way young lad."
When thinking about herbs, people will think about forests? But no, it's troublesome to search the whole forest just to identify the herb. And not all herbs will grow in a place like that. So looking in the forest is a bad idea.
I headed to the herb market in the Rayan. I approached one of the stalls and use the skill.
Herb Identification Active Skill Proficiency 0% Identification skill, but only for herb and plant. Show the details and effects of the herb. Cost 5 SP Duration Instant Cooldown 15 seconds
You have used Herb Identification
Kuhkun Grass Rare Material Grass with a soothing and calming effect. Dry it and you will get a relaxing tea. Restore +500% MP, add +50% MP Regeneration for 5 second.
----------------------------------------
I examined the herb in this stall throughout the day. And when I'm in the middle of Herb Identification for the 27th time, the stall owner speaks.
"Hey, young man ..., I have been silent all this time, but if you keep doing that, you will ruin my business." she looked at me with her arms crossed on her chest, pressing against the chest that was oh soo big that it spilled.
Name Annette Level 16 Job Peddler Title Busty Merchant - (Hard to get, Ruthless Negotiator) Health ???/??? Magic ???/? Stamina ???/??? Skill ???
Based on her looks, she is 30 or something years old. With the complexion of that Mediterranean woman. But yes, those breasts look amazing. No doubt, the best that I have seen. Maybe my face looks like a pervert at the moment.
"I'm sorry ..., I'll buy something after this. But can you let me do this, it's an errand from Mr. Flask." I said while avoiding my gaze on her chest.
Her mouth formed 'o' and with a beautiful smile she said. "Hoohh ..., that old man got a new apprentice. What a rare thing. But, why don't you go outside the forest and use that skill in the wild?"
"I realized that doing this is much more efficient and time-saving than searching in the forest."
"Smart guy ..., well, I let you for now. But you must buy something before you leave, you hear!"
"Not a problem, pretty miss."
"Save your frivolous talk, just buy my items." She waved her hand and let me do the identification.
"Okay ..."
...
..
.
Half an hour passed. And I finish identifying hundreds of herb. But I didn't stop, there's still a bunch of herbs I have yet identified. I spend more time and use the skill. The major reason for doing this was because I can sneak a peek at those massive breasts much longer.
Job Change Quest (II)
Difficulty: Job Change
Use Herb Identification on 100 herbs or more.
Progress [100/100]
Reward: Old Herbalist Kit.
Failure: None
Go to the Trainer Flask to finish the quest and get the reward
Before I leave, I bought two types of herb with me. It's a rare herb and it cost me 400 gold coins. I thank her again and left the market.
Quest Completed! Job Change Quest (II) has been completed with amazing results.
You get Old Herbalist Kit from Trainer Flask.
Old Herbalist Kit Common Crafting KIt Old Herbalist Flask used this kit when he was still an apprentice. A little tattered but a big help to those who are still learning to become a Herbalist. Extraction, Dissolution, Distillation
"What a studious young lad, I appreciate your eagerness. But how come you finish it so fast?"
"Ahh, Mr. Flask ..., It's like this. I went to the herb market and use the skill there. Is it prohibited?"
Flask caressed his beard and smiled. He nodded and said, "no, I never said you can't do that. It's just, many people go to the forest and search the herb by themselves. They will go back after a week at most. You are a smart lad, to go into the herb market right away ... it seems your brain isn't just for decoration."
"What is my next assignment, Mr. Flask?"
"Okay, use the kit and extract the properties in the herbs. When you are done, I will acknowledge you as an herbalist."
Job Change Quest (III)
Difficulty: Job Change
Extract herbal properties from 3 different herbs.
Progress [0/3]
Reward: Job Change, Experience Point, Skill [Brewing], Skill [Synthesize], Skill [Transmute]
Failure: None
"A Herbalist? Not Alchemist?"
[Trainer] Flask shakes his head while letting out a sigh, "What a greedy young lad, Herbalist is your first step to becoming an Alchemist. The alchemical study is much more complex than Herbology, but you have to master it before you can touch alchemy."
"Ohh ..., is that so, I understand."
Because I could do herb extracting anywhere, I do it here and then. I took out the Old Herbalist Kit and sat down.
A new interface window appears in front of me.
Old Herbalist Kit
Extraction Dissolution Distillation
I went with Extraction and watched a basic step tutorial video. After I understood step by step, I tried to do it.
I light up the spirit lamp and roast ginger-like medicine. It's Jahemerah Root I got from the Hinnan Woods. I let it roast until a nice fragrant come out. I put it into a beaker glass filled with water and then let it boil.
Processing: 12%
the loading bar pops out in front of the glass.
I wait for some time before it finishes and then I got this notification.
Congratulation! You have extracted the herbal properties.
Jahemerah Extract Uncommon Material Medicine efficacy extracted from Jahemerah Root. Increase vigor and warm up the body. Need further processing before it turns into Stamina Potion. Add Stamina Point to +100, and increase Stamina Regeneration for 40% for 60 seconds.
"Well ..., this is somewhat fun."
I enjoy it. It's like a chemistry practicum I did when I was in my first semester. I made some other herbs extract. I failed some of it, but most of it was a success. I finished my quest before the day gone dark. And ..., I forget to ask him about the profit of being Herbalist. But, whatever, this is a fun thing for me.
