Chapter 82: My Last Hope
Amphere Harrison
This is not happening.
In front of me, is a gigantic seventy-meter tall platinum Futuretech Dragon, the only difference is that it has red photon dragonfly wings on its back. Its posture is more of a humanoid than dragon’s, and it’s eyes are completely tinted red. There was a gigantic electric fan on its back that absorbs light particles from nature. This is the legendary Monolith Dragon.
There is no way I can fight this. Airi is completely being controlled by her past lover Zac Schneider, who turns out to be the greatest bad guy of all. He successfully merged two dragonoids into one horrific creature in existence.
“Amphere.” Rudolf is talking through my earpiece communicator. “We got a positive ID on Dragunov and the Princess. We need additional backup from you guys.”
I completely ignored Rudolf’s statement. I have to focus on getting rid of that Zac guy, who was grinning excitedly at me. I clenched my fist in wrath and despair. I wanted to kill that guy for using my Airi!
The Monolith Dragon charged a particle ball from its mouth, and then fired into my direction. The diameter of the beam was so wide that it can annihilate ten blocks in a second. The particle beam was so powerful that it converts every building it touches into unseen bits that mixes through the air.
I was dead.
But the Portal Dragon managed to create a warp gate which immediately transported us into midair, twenty five meters above the Crimson Dragonfly. I was so occupied with my anger and sorrow that I didn’t notice that Reina already used Vesryn Pulse on Richard. Now I found myself sitting on the white dragon’s nape.
“Get yourself together!” Reina scolded me. “I’ll be opening a portal to summon Exceria.”
As Reina exerts effort to her fingers, trying hard to open a dimensional gate, I touched my chest and mumbled “Cancelling Vesryn Pulse.” It was no good. I was not the one who’s using Airi’s Vesryn Pulse with after all. It was that Zac demon.
I know a way! If I’ll use my Eye of Deus to control other’s Vesryn Pulse, I’ll be sure to have Airi back!
“Don’t.” Exceria, who just teleported here, held my right eye with her soft warm hand. “We should save your powers to control Vesryn Pulse for our main enemy. You can only overload Vesryn Pulse once a week after all.”
“B-But Airi is…” I was so shaking that I never managed to complete my sentence.
“We’ll find a way to save your love, Amphere. For now, let’s activate our own Vesryn Pulse!”
She maybe has some point, but I’m not sure if I can still endure this feeling. I can’t bear watching my own girlfriend being used by her ex! I’ll overload Vesryn Pulse if we don’t get any solution in five minutes!
I had Exceria transform into a white Pulsar Dragon. Because of the light, the gigantic robot dragon noticed us and prepared another beam to exterminate us. Exceria’s dragon form revealed its moonstone on its chest and gathered light energy, the same way how the Monolith Dragon is using its mouth to channel photon beams. Pulsar Dragon unleashed a beam of light that made the Monolith Dragon’s mouth explode for a brief period!
That might hurt for Airi, but I know her! She will last long enough for me to save her! Just endure that pain a little bit more!

But the Monolith Dragon was not hurt at all. The gigantic gun hiding at the deepest edge of its mouth was not damaged. Zac laughed like a madman as he celebrated witnessing our attack go to waste. Damn that guy! I’ll punch him and slice his scrotum once I get close to him!
There was another immense photon beam that was discharged from the Monolith Dragon! This time, target was Reina and Richard. Richard dodged the beams by flying at super speeds and teleporting using his warp holes. The giant photon beam left a long zigzagging crater, as if the Crimson Dragonfly is sketching something while changing the landscape. As if this Twilight City is not devastated enough.
“I know someone who can help us!” Reina shouted. “A Vesryn Pulse canceler!”
That thought made some light bulb in my head. That was right. Zac’s Dracaryx and Vesryn Pulse will be completely negated, if the General Class-Dragon Knight is here! Mark Anthony Octavius and his Gladiator Dragon are the one’s who’s needed!
“Amphere! Keep them occupied while I open a portal!” Reina said as she maneuvered her Portal Dragon away from the battlefield.
I nodded with enthusiasm. Now I can feel that we’re in a brink of victory! I’ll just grab the Crimson Dragonfly’s attention until our guy is here. I had Exceria jet forward, revolving around the giant’s body like a persistent mosquito as it continuously fire photon beams in the hopes of annihilating us. The Monolith Dragon uses its claws trying to swat us, but due to its heaviness and size, its reaction time is so slow.
I think I can do the other plan. “Drop me to the head, where that demon guy is.” I whispered to Exceria. If I’m able to rip that guy’s heart, Airi will be freed.
With the speed of sound, Exceria rose up and then released me to the spacious flat head of the giant dragon. It looks like a smooth platform of some sort, so my landing was favorable. I rolled three times and then withdrew my two photon swords, and then bolted forward to destroy the enemy!
“What the-!!!” Zac, who was astounded, took a step back.
When I was about to smash my first sword, he raised his hand, and a photonic force field appeared, repelling my attack. I slashed with my other, and then hacked again, but the shield is unbreakable! This guy is using Airi’s powers!
I can’t take him down like this, so I retreated back and jumped to Exeria’s head once again and flew away. I have to activate my dynamos or Deus Ex Machina to break his shield and then launch a close ranged attack! But when I was about to activate my clearance systems, our backup has arrived.
“Sorry I’m late!” A loud voice echoed throughout the stratosphere. “I’m now here for your aid!”
It was not a man’s voice. Of course it’s not Mark Anthony Octavius. It was a twelve-year-old girl that makes me annoyed every now and then.
“D-D-Duchess Corasell?” I muttered.
The duchess is proudly having her arms crossed as she was standing on top of the head of a blue Fairy Dragon that I suspect was Eva. Seriously, what do these kids can do in this situation? Cry out loud and whine?
“I see that I’m your last hope now, Sir Amphere.” The duchess covered her mouth with her golden fan as she laughed aristocratically. “It’s really a shame that you can’t control your dragonoid. You don’t have a right to proclaim yourself as a knight!”
Because of her blabbing, I got irritated so easily. I think I’m going to suffer from high blood pressure. This is a serious situation, and here she is, mocking at me!? “Stop yanking. Are you really sure you can bring Airi back?”
“Watch and learn, big boy.” The duchess laughed once again. Darn this little girl!
The Fairy Dragon clapped its hands as Duchess Corasell gracefully circled her fan around herself in a form of a dance. And then she immediately closed those fans, leaving an echo throughout the atmosphere.
“Negate!” She shouted.
One, two…three second has passed, but there’s nothing. The Monolith Dragon made a deafening roar again, charging a photon beam to annihilate us for the last time. But before the attack was released, the Monolith Dragon’s back blew out. There were thick smoke, and then a flash of light came.
Even from afar, I could see two star-like lights falling from where the Crimson Dragonfly is supposed to be. Looks like the giant dragon vanished like a bubble. Duchess Corasell is certainly
“Amphere!” Reina shouted, as she opened a portal right in my face.
“Right!” I jumped to the portal and I find myself free falling on midair. I saw the unconscious Airi in front of me, and I tried to reach her hand. After three tries, I finally got her soft hand and then grabbed her to my grasps. Because of the comforting sensation, Airi opened her eyes and uttered a weak yet bright smile.
“Y-You saved me again, Amphy. Like…totally… You always do…”
“You’re safe now.” I embraced her as tight as I can. I never knew that I was crying until droplets came out crawling to my cheeks.
“It’s not over yet!” A loud masculine shout can be heard.
As I look upward, I saw the demon, Zac Schneider, holding a black heart.
