Never Ending

Never Ending

Two hundred and thirty four, two hundred and thirty five, two hundred and thirty six. Leaning on the window of her bedroom, Rose kept counting the rain drops dripping from her window. Rose hated the rain but in her hometown, it never stops raining. Vervain, a peculiar town with lavender scented meadows, tar roads and grass, greenest of them all. All the residents of Vervain are used to the significant weather of their hometown and have learned to live with it even if some live in despair.

7:30 AM. Time to get ready for school, it was the first day of second semester. Sliding the clothes in her closet one by one, Rose picked out a long sleeved dark green t-shirt with the Martell sigil on the back from Game of Thrones and tucked it inside a pair of black ripped jeans, The go-to look for Ms. Roseanne Park. Grabbing her backpack and phone Rose headed out for school.

8:00 AM. Vervain High. Highschool for the drenched and drained. Rose headed inside the school and walked towards her locker.

"You must've done something really awful in your previous life that you're getting punished like this." giggled Zara, skipping her way to Rose. Zara Hamilton, a goofy and quirky girl who seemed to be dim witted but was actually pretty clever and quick at problem solving is Rose's close and childhood friend.

"What do you mean by that you hippie?" asked Rose.

"Didn't you see the seating arrangement for our new class?" Zara chuckled with a slight smirk on her face.

It was one of Rose's worst nightmares, even getting stabbed in the back fifteen times with a rusty butcher knife would have been better for Rose.

Rose's seat was at the very back, in the corner, next to the window.

When will this rain stop?

Why does it keep pouring all the time over this already miserable town?

Why cant everything just be, normal?

Those were the thoughts that were going through Rose's mind while she kept staring out from the window and seeing nothing but rain, rain which she despises. The first four classes went by with Rose staring out and spreading the hatred of Vervain to herself.

10:30 AM. Break time. Food, gossip and a bit of mischief. Rose had a particular spot where she always spent her break time, a place nobody knew, not even Zara. She walked through the back exit and ran through the pouring rain to a nearby shed. It was an abandoned shed Rose had made home. A comfortable mattress, warm blanket and fairy lights. Short way of summarizing the shed. Rose got comfortable in her happy place and took a book which was placed on the side of the mattress, The Girl on the Train. She started reading from where she had left off which had been marked by a silver colored book mark with a sticker of Pikachu at the end.

As break time came to an end, Rose tidied up the shed and turned off the lights and opened the door to head for her class. She needed to run as fast as she could to get back in the main building of the school to avoid getting too drenched but as she stepped out of the shed she noticed a figure standing in the rain further away from the school, captivated by the sight, Rose couldn't help but stare disregarding the fact that she was getting wet. She concentrated on the figure, it was hard to see because of the rain but she could tell it was a boy, tall and black haired. As Rose was staring, his bright blue eyes pierced into hers and she came back to reality and ran to the main building.

Completely soaked, Rose headed to her locker to get her spare clothes, on the way she met up with Zara who was heading to class.

"Happy place?" Zara chuckled.

"Happy place." Rose answered with a sigh followed by a smile after remembering the cause of her getting herself drenched.

Rose got changed and went to class.

2:00 PM. The last bell. See you laters and umbrellas. School had finished for the day. Rose got out of the class with Zara and walked together to the exit.

"So how'd you like the first day in your new seat, Rosie?" Zara giggled.

"If my seat doesn't change next semester, forget about previous lives, i'm sure as hell gonna do something awful in this life." Rose exclaimed.

Both of them said there goodbyes and walked away in different directions. Rose opened her red umbrella and headed home. She always walked home alone. She didn't mind it though. She put on her headsets and clicked on her playlist.

Playing Nothing's Gonna Hurt You Baby by Cigarettes After Sex.

Walking home from school, Rose always seemed to get stares from strangers. Rose knew the reason why they were staring but she didn't like it and didn't want to believe that, that was the reason.

Rose is a girl gifted with extraordinary beauty.

Skin, pale as snow which is complimented by the never ending rain of Vervain. Long black locks as dashing as a full moon night. Stone cold gray eyes that stab daggers into the hearts of her admirers. Full lips, the color of a freshly bloomed red rose.

Rose was undeniably a beauty made in heaven.

However, this is not something Rose is proud of. She is a girl with very less friends and many enemies. Enemies which came into existence due to envy.

2:24 PM. Home sweet home. As rose got up to the door of her house, she noticed an envelope on the doormat. She picked it up and checked the back and there was a message written, a poem to be exact.

Roses are red,

Violets are blue,

Time to cut some flowers in two.

Unsettled by the message on the envelope, Rose opened the envelope with caution and there was a piece of paper with another message on it.

"Are you sure you want to go in?"

Rose's eyes widened and she saw something else inside the envelope. It was a picture. Rose started shivering in fear. It was a picture of her, sleeping in her bedroom.

What does this mean?

Is this some kind of sick joke?

Who might have done this?

A different wave of thoughts start flooding inside Rose's mind.
