The VR capsule awaited and beckoned Lukas enticingly as he stepped into his small flat. He was tempted to drop everything, grab the game and try it out at last, but he needed to do something first.
"Gotta bathe, piss and take a dump," he said. "Not in any particular order."
While the modern age advanced enough to produce a virtual reality capsule capable of tricking the senses into believing they were somewhere else and even uploading your mind into the game–Lukas still wasn't ready to drop his mortal body.
His prized possession, the Re:Live Capsule needed to be well maintained and that meant he took care of himself first and got comfortable before he finally opened the lid.
"Kinda like a Vampire in a coffin, huh?" he muttered to himself and stepped inside.
Once he closed the lid, it finally began.

"Eh, why not."
This was the wish fulfillment aspect that most dreamed about.
Not everyone was lucky to have been born with good genetics–and paying doctors and scientists to modify your baby to be handsome or beautiful was an expensive procedure, much more for an adult.
It was why in this regard, the game was a steal.
"Now, let's change the hair color and eyes. Body physique. Hmmm… who'd think they'd even modify your size?" Lukas grinned. "Of course, I'll only just add an inch from my actual size to be well-endowed."
A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.
If Lukas had been born earlier in the 2020s, people would have batted an eye for him talking aloud–but in his time? It was the norm.
Most people lived alone and their own voice was the only thing that could fill the dreadful silence.
And now he was finally done.
He stared at the Avatar he created with satisfaction and finally went into the game proper.
Or would have entered the game, if not for one final thing.
"Ugh, a EULA? People don't even actually read this thing." Lukas complained as he skimmed the contents of the end-user-license-agreement lightly and then finally accepted it all without another glance.

When Lukas finally opened his eyes, he woke up to find himself in a familiar-looking room, not much different from what he owned himself.
Except it was much better furnished and had everything he wanted.
So what he said was a lie, but it didn't matter because he was in pain.
Lukas groaned slightly and gazed around some more, feeling a splitting headache–his entire body felt heavy as he stumbled out of bed.
"This really is way too realistic." he muttered and then went for the mirror. He placed his hand on the cold and smooth surface and chuckled. "In most Vampire lores, most wouldn't be able to see their reflection–but I guess it being a game changes things by a lot. I don't look bad. Good choice me."
As expected, his entire appearance changed to the form he created, which made him smile before Lukas also checked out the special contents inside his boxers.
"Hmm, alright. We're all good. Everything is in order."
Sometimes, there were bad quality VR games where you'd only see a pixelated version.
He hated that.
It was way better to get uncensored ones.
"We've got the looks, so now it's time to check how much balance I initially start with."
Lukas glanced around the room for a small miniature screen for him, but saw nothing.
"Odd." He muttered and gazed about until his eyes landed on the table. There was a laptop left open, along with a phone and a digital bracer with a metallic sheen.
Lukas stepped closer and rolled his eyes slightly.
"So it's one of those old games where things are tied to an object. I guess that's a bit of old school."
When Lukas slipped on the bracer, a quiet hum sounded across his skin as the object turned on. A holograph finally appeared in front of him and a look of dismay spread all over his face.

"How am I going to meet the girls if I'm broke?" Lukas groaned and ran his fingers through his hair. "It's not like my charming and endearing personality is enough to entice a woman to sleep with me, is it?"
