Chapter 42- Day 4 (Part II)

Gate #6 - Day 4 (Part II)

Silver knew that this festival was a once in a lifetime event. She had a strange feeling that something this big would not happen very often in the future. Even still, she was watching her surroundings carefully for any possible enemy.

Every three hours, Silver called the other team about their position and what they have and have not found. So far, she found out from the other two they did not find any leads as well.

Silver and her group continued to walk through the busy streets of the festival. They saw and smelled many delicious foods that they have never smelled before. She even walked over towards one of the booths to buy a beef kabob to eat. Jasper on the other hand bought a burger, while the twins helped themselves to a tuna sandwich.

They continued exploring through the many booths, until Silver saw something that caught her eyes. A dingy old booth that looked more run down than any other booths that were present. Silver knew immediately what this booth was. She quickly walked over.

“Silver?” Jasper called out towards her in confusion, wondering why she wanted to go towards a run down old booth.

“Excuse me.” Silver called out. An old cat with a puffy white coat turned towards Silver with a frown.

“What do you want?” He grumpily spoke.

Silver gave him a gentle smile and pulled out the special core that she had gotten from the rat monster.

“Is that?!” The old cat swiped the core out of Silver’s hand.

“I’m willing to trade it.”

“You will?” The old cat glanced up at her with glee. “Is that so? Then I’ll gladly trade you for what I have. You won’t take back your words right?”

“Yes, I promise.” Silver nodded. She knew that this old man had something special that she wanted.

“Good. Good.” The old cat rubbed his chin in pleasure. He then leaned over the counter and pulled out an old leather bag. Spreading it out, four small trinket like items were placed out for everyone to see.

Jasper came over to see what Silver was trying to buy. “What are these?” He closely examined them but seemed to find nothing special about them.

From everyone's perspective they look like old trinkets that one would just throw away. Silver pulled out her card and examined each one.

Turnip Pin

A special pin that allows one’s magical power to increase in large bursts. This pin can only be used once to increase one’s power by ten folds for a duration of one hour. Once used it can not be used again. To activate it, inject one’s magical power into the pin.

Blueberry Pin

A special pin that allows one’s physical strength to increase in large bursts. This pin can only be used once to increase one’s power by ten folds for a duration of one hour. Once used it can not be used again. To activate it, inject one’s magical power into the pin.

Guild Crystal

A special crystal that allows you to create a guild. This crystal can only be used once. To use it one must inject your magical energy to register.

Fish Pin

A special pin that allows one to breathe underwater for a short duration of time. This pin can be used for a duration of thirty minutes before it needs to be recharged. Recharging time is three hours before one could use it again.

Ecstatic, Silver picked up the Guild Crystal. “I’ll take this.”

“Oh? You want that? Okay.” The old cat nodded.

Jasper saw what she was doing and he too took out his card to see what was going on. He was surprised to see that the four items were very special items that he had never seen before and they were unique items. He quickly rummaged out a similar orb and handed it towards the old man. “I'd like to trade one as well.”

“!” The old cat was surprised to see another one. “W-where? How?”

“I’ll take this if you don’t mind.” Jasper took the Blueberry Pin and pinned it to his chest.

The old cat did not refuse Jasper and instead stared at the second monster orb on the desk. He was shocked to have two of them in his hands.

“What did you guys do?” Brook asked, confused. “Why did you guys pull out your cards?”

“Well…” Jasper was not sure if he should tell them.

“It helps you look up the special property on magical items. These four are considered magical items.”

“Really?” Brook took out his and excitedly looked at the last two. When he saw the item description they were startled at the amount of information that they were given.

“It is truly nice doing business with you.” The old cat whistled in delight. He folded up the leather bag and stashed it away.

“So lucky~” Rook stares with envy. “I want one.”

Both of them look towards the old cat with dark thoughts in their mind.

“I wouldn’t think about bothering him if I were you.” Silver spoke out. She could tell what they were thinking about.

“Why not?”

“They have guards around him. Look around you.” Sliver motioned her head towards the side. They noticed that not too far away were humanoid rabbits with black suits standing around watching them.

“You're shitting me. That’s them.” Rook gulped as he took a step back. Something about the rabbits made them scared.

“We gotta get out of here.”

“Calm down.” Silver reassured them. “They are only watching over the old cat. Don’t cause any trouble and they won’t bother you.”

The twins understood, but were still uncomfortable. They knew how powerful those rabbits were and they did not want to get tangled up with them. Walking over slowly under a shaded area, they watched the rabbits in weary.

“Hey Jasper, call the other two and tell them about the shop.” Silver called out towards Jasper. She noticed that Jasper was already on the phone talking to Brianna.

“I’m already on it.”

Silver was pleased with how quickly Jasper grasped things. She went back to checking out the guild crystal in hand. It was a small clear marble object. In the center of the marble was a small falcon like symbol that softly glowed blue.

Closing her eyes, she willed up magical energy from her body and injected it into the crystal. All of a sudden the crystal orb started to lightly shimmer. A soft blue light glowed outwards as it changed shapes and disappeared into Silver.

A clear crystal screen floated in front of Sliver’s face. Words formed inside the crystal screen asking her questions.

What would you like to set your guild name?

Silver thought it over and remembered what they decided on. “Valhalla.”

Guild Valhalla had been registered. Please imagine your emblem.

An image formed in her head. In a flash the orb sparkled and turned into a specially designed patch. On it was a female angel with six pure white wings with golden feathers. On her hand were a sword and a shield. Over her head was a golden crown. The patch flew towards her chest and embedded itself onto her clothes.

Information popped up in her head, telling her more about her newly created guild. A flood of information told her to check her card. She fished out her card and looked.

Silver’s eye twitched when she read the messages on the guild leveling system. She knew that getting high level crystals past a blue was considered very difficult and rare. Not only that the monsters were all considerably difficult to win against. Monsters were either considered equivalent in power with the black undead dragon or lower for Blue Crystals.

Any other crystals higher than an Indigo were considered special S Class monsters, while a violet were SS Class monsters only held. Fighting against one was considered instant death.

Not only that when she saw the guild abilities, she could now understand why the guild's crystals were sought after and why they were popular.

A baby angel popped out of thin air and wavered around Silver’s head.

“Congratulations!” The baby angel replied with happiness. “You are the 1,093,890 guild that has been made. Valhalla has been recorded in our records. Here is a reward for your guild creation.”

The baby handed her a high level red crystal. Silver took it gratefully and stored it away.

“Now with that being done. I hope you have a wonderful time playing~” With a poof the baby disappeared.

“Silver, did you just do what I think you just did?” Jasper was surprised at the information that the baby angel had given. “Let me join.” He looked up towards Silver with a gleeful expression.

Silver nodded. She rummaged through the information in her head and found out what she was looking for. Sticking out her hands, she waited for Jasper to grasp her.

Jasper looked at her outstretched hands confused.

“Jasper, you are invited to the guild Valhalla. Would you like to join?”

Understanding what Silver wanted, Jasper grasped Silver’s hands. “Yes!” A second later Jasper's eyes widened in surprise.

Silver didn’t know what happened, but information flooded into her head.

New Guild member Jasper has been added to your guild.

She couldn’t help but be excited that it had worked. All of a sudden, on Jasper’s chest the same emblem appeared on his clothes identifying him to her newly established guild. Not only that she made him the second in command of the whole guild, making the patch have a slightly different number of stars on the shield. Silver had five while Jasper had four.

“Welcome to Valhalla.”

Jasper chuckled. “Thanks.”

Silver was pleased that Jasper accepted.

Silver turned towards Jasper and spoke with him without rousing the others.

“I would like it if you will be acting as spokesman for the guild.” Silver quickly spoke.

“W-w-what?” Jasper was stupefied at Silver’s answer.

“Because it’ll throw people off and you’re good at interacting and bringing people together.”

“What are you talking about?! That’s you!”

Silver shook her head. “I only set this up because I thought you would be better at it then me.”

“If I do it, what would you do for me?”

Silver thought it over. She knew he would not just take the offer so easily. “Three high tier level crystals at the end of each week that I gather.”

Jasper's eyes became wide when he heard what she said. A lopsided grin appeared on his face, unable to determine if he’s happy or annoyed.

“Look, you don’t have to worry about anything else about the guild leveling. Leave that to me. All I’m asking is for you to bring people together.”

Jasper sighed as he raised his hands up to his forehead. “Silver, you are already a natural born leader, I don’t understand why you are doing this, but because it’s you, I'll do it.”

“I understand.”

“Okay then. Just don’t forget.”

Silver shook her head with understanding.

Jasper was silent. His eyes scrunched up

Silver then checked her status card to see how much she grew.

Pleased, Silver put away her card.

The other twins came over, wondering what they were doing.

“What did you guys do? It seems you guys did some secret transaction or something.”

“Come join the guild.” Jasper crookedly spoke with a glint in his eyes.

Both of them shuddered when they saw his smile.

“Guild? What the heck was that all about?” Brook asked, confused.

“So, would you like to join?”

Two look at Silver and Jasper and their eyes lit up. They understood what was going on.

“Let us join~” Rook replied with excitement.

“Me too~”

Both Rook and Brook were jumping up and down excited to see something unique. Silver did not hold back and instead accepted the two into her guild. She knew that these two would become a powerful force if they survived in these games.

“Sweet!” Both of them chime in excitement.

“I swear this is like a virtual game that you play online.”

“I know. I know. I remember playing Deviant and we joined a guild. To find something like a guild emblem is not something that you easily find.”

“Yep yep.”

They both were looking upon Silver in a whole new light. Not only that they were quite excited that they were part of something new. They look down upon the side of their sleeves to take a better look at their emblem.

“Well…..now that you’re part of the team, the crystals can be used to strengthen yourself and heal yourself. It’s always imperative that you keep a couple crystals on hand when an emergency arises.” Jasper spoke informing the two.

“Really? You can eat the crystals?” Their eyes became wide. “This whole time I have been collecting them.

Rook pulls out a handful of crystals in his pouch. Fifteen small crystal shards and six deep crimson shards were in his hands. Brook had the same amount as well as they took a closer look upon them.

“So I eat this?” Brook picks one up to examine it.

Silver was quite surprised that they had so many shards in their hand and so far did not eat a single one. What was even more surprising was that they were able to get so many and still survive until now. So far, these two had lived without the aid of the crystal shards and were even able to kill other monsters with the strength that they already had.

Brook and Rook took a bite out of the crystals as if they were candy. Once they swallowed the shards their eyes became wide, understanding what Jasper was talking about. In seconds they gobbled down the rest, leaving a couple small shards behind.

“I like this.”

“I agree. This could definitely help us get stronger. I feel like I could blow up a city.”

“Huhuhuhuhu. I don’t think we’re that powerful yet.”

The both of them gaze upon each other understanding what the other was thinking about. They chuckled under their breath at the thought of getting more stronger than they were.

“We should fight some more monsters and get some more.”

“Mhmm. I agree.”

“So, should we go kill some cats?”

“Woah. Woah. Woah.” Jasper held up his hands to stop them. He glanced over his shoulder and noticed that the rabbit guards that were walking around tensed up when they heard them talking about killing the cats. All of a sudden, Jasper felt his life being threatened by the rabbits that seemed to eye them with suspicion. “Humanoids and undead don’t usually have them.” He quickly spoke.

“They don’t?”

“That sucks.”

“Yep, I was hoping to go on a hunting spree.”

“Same. Same.”

“Let’s not resort to violence so quickly. Bringing unwanted attention is not something that we want. Plus,” Jasper motioned with his head towards the Rabbits, “their watching.”

“Ah….” Both Brook and Rook frowned deeply. Their eyes furrowed not liking the sound of what Jasper had said.

“So watch what you say.”

The twins nodded in understanding.

“By the way, what function does one even have in even joining a guild…..ah.” Brook's eyes lit up as something caught his attention. “Never mind. It seems that was unexpected.”

“Huh?” Rook looked at his brother not understanding what he was talking about.

“A stream of information comes into your head when you think about the guild information. It’s pretty cool.”

“Let me try.” Rook did the same and a moment later his eyes became wide. “That’s so cool. I never knew that there was such a function, though telepathy is a skill that we both already share so it’s not a big deal, but when the guild levels, it’s definitely going to help us out a lot.”

“Yep. Yep. Who knew they were such a cool function like this.”

Jasper also tried it out and noticed what Rook and Brook were talking about. “Hey Silver, we should try practicing using telepathy. With it we can relay messages much quicker. How long of a distance do you think it can go?”

“I’m not so sure.” Silver searched for the answer, but nothing came up for her to check the length of the ability.

“How do you even do it anyways? What do you guys do?” Jasper asked dumbfoundedly on how to send messages from one to another.

“Well, we’re not really sure. We do think about what we want to send. Pictures are the easiest to send for us, though words can become quite a problem.”

“I see.”

Silver understood what they meant. She closed her eyes and thought up Jasper’s name. She then pictured a red crystal shard in her hand.

Moments later, Jasper looks up towards Silver confused. “I know this might sound strange, but did you send me a picture message of a red shard?”

Silver smiled at Jasper’s answer. She was excited that the messaging was actually working.

“That’s so cool!” Jasper states out excitedly. “Let me try.” He closed his eyes and began to imagine what he wanted to send.

Silver waited patiently, but so far nothing was sent to her head. Five minutes passed, until finally she got a picture of an orange striped kitten. She then opened up her eyes and stared towards Jasper. The telepathic communication was slightly strange, when the message came into her head, she felt the invasive thought that entered in her mind that didn’t feel like hers. This allowed her to tell the difference between their thoughts without much trouble.

“You sent an orange striped kitten didn’t you?”

“Yea.”

“I’ll try next with words.” Jasper excitedly stated. He once again tried again. Silver was sent the same picture message, but no words could be seen or heard.

“I didn’t hear anything.” Silver shook her head.

“Strange.”

“I’ll try mine.” Silver closed her eyes and sent a similar message.

“Nothing. All I got were pictures.”

“I wonder if we need to fully be able to do this to be able to talk with each other. So far, picture messages aren’t so bad.”

“It’s like we’re watching a silent movie.”

Silver chuckled. “Well, at least we got some results. Now we should test out the distance.”

“Sure.”

“We’ll use a yellow duckling as a picture to send to each other.” She talked to the three.

“Why a duckling? Why not a tiger?” Rook asked. He was not liking the idea of a yellow duckling.

“That’s because that image was the first one to come out of my mind.”

“Oh.”

“Okay, let’s split up and get this over with.”

The group started to disperse and took a bit of distance. They quickly figured out the distance between the telepathic skills. At most a good five blocks was possible to safely transmit thoughts towards one another.

Please, Silver called out towards the three through telepathy to meet up. It didn’t take long for the others to converge together and meet each other once again.
