After seeing that the first thing Mike did was open up a new databank entry where he made a survival checklist of all the things he needed to do as soon as possible.
1. Take inventory of available materials and supplies, and decide on rations
2. Survey the environment for threats and resources
3. Construct necessary survival equipment using the lifepod's fabricator
4. Check lifepod for damage, and repair as necessary
5. Broadcast local distress signal using lifepod's short-range radio
6. Locate other survivors using line of sight or the radio
7. Find or construct a more permanent habitat
8. Maintain physical and psychological health until rescue
So the first thing he needed to do was check the Lifepod for emergency rations. The storage box that was inside the Lifepod contained enough food and water to last him a week, and apparently if he wanted to survive longer than that he needed to start making his own food and water.
Luckily for him all Alterra Lifepods contain a standard issue fabricator, and a fabricator was according to this body's memories and the PDA databank entry...
Fabricator
Fabrication technology is the power to rearrange matter at the atomic level. It was the catalyst behind the great expansion, and remains the backbone of the modern world.
Fabricators come in all shapes and sizes, but the most common are small enough to be wall-mounted, and are used for everything from constructing everyday implements to cooking dinner. It is common today for households to keep a store of generic base materials on hand for any eventuality.
So the second thing on his survival checklist was to survey the area he landed in and note all the resources he could use to aid him in his current situation. When he climbed out through the escape hatch atop the Lifepod all he saw around him was water and the Aurora Spacecraft laying on its side and burning, and since the previous occupant of this body knew that the engines of the Aurora worked on nuclear fission he realized what the burning Aurora meant, it meant that he was in serious danger of a nuclear explosion of the Aurora's engines.
Stolen novel; please report.
But while that was awful by his estimation he had at least 5 days to figure out what to do, currently, his priority was finding resources, food and water, and in order to more easily move through the water he needed an oxygen tank and a scuba mask, while all those things were contained in his emergency blueprints, what he needs to construct them was metal, and glass.
While he was thinking up what to do his PDA sounded out..
"Detecting many of the minerals present on the ocean floor may be of significance to your continued survival investigate!"
So without any other option, he jumped in the water, while he could barely see he could still rely on the scanning ability of his PDA to find the minerals he needs to, at least build a mask.
"PDA Initiate scan for minerals required to build a mask!"
"Scanning Initiated, Detecting surface level quartz deposits that can be used to fabricate glass needed for mask construction"
"Detecting abundance of surface-level metal deposits, scans indicate it may be from the Aurora wreckage, it is possible to deconstruct the salvage to its base components needed to fabricate metals required to construct an O2 Tank"
"Can you lead me to one of those quartz deposits?" he asked the PDA
"Initiating HUD, please follow the arrows to the closest quartz deposit"
And with the PDA leading him he barely got enough quartz to make the mask, he climbed back into the lifepod, fabricated the mask and was on his way to find the metal salvages from the Aurora, but when he got back into the water he was astounded by the beauty of this world, all the fish looked so alien that he was finding himself quite fascinated by them. But then he heard a deep grumble, and when he turned around he saw what looked like a giant monster with a glowing bulbous sack on its tail that was leaking a yellow substance when he went over there was a blaring alarm in his head, and a burning pain assaulted his body.
"Alert Alert, Detecting poisonous substance in the surroundings, vacate the area."
He immediately left the area surrounding the animal and went around looking for metal, while he was searching in his head the PDA sounded out again.
"Detecting surface level deposits of copper ore, copper is an essential component of all powered equipment. Your probability of survival has just increased to: unlikely, but plausible."
He immediately asked the PDA to lead him to it and by complete accident right next to the deposit was the metal salvege he required, so he grabbed both the copper and the salvage and lugged them back to the life pod, and while on the way the PDA informed him that the glowing mushrooms growing on the ocean floor could be used to synthesise batteries in combination with the copper ore, so he stocked up on as many as he could carry.
