Chapter 7

Yeetlhy had completely relaxed her mind and body. She was humming a lullaby she heard when she was young. The teenager was imagining the sky during nightlight. Her mind was diving deeper and deeper into one of the sweetest memories she ever had. A time when she was just a little baby, and her mother was holding her, lulling her to calm down. The girl tried to focus on her mother’s blurry face when she suddenly had a headache. It was instant and painful. Her anxiety rose up. Something was wrong. But she didn’t want to open her eyes. She thought that by interrupting the examiner, the process of analyzing her magical abilities would be slowed down. Yeetlhy couldn’t bother him with her useless fears. Until she couldn’t take it anymore. The teenager finally opened her eyes.
“Excuse me, I’m having a headache right now, is it normal ?”
No answer. The examiner wasn’t paying attention to her, focusing on the terminal. The screen was showing her results.

“Is something wrong ?”
The room was silent. Something clearly happened. The more she looked at the examiner, the more distressed she was. That’s when she realized what was wrong. The examiner wasn’t moving at all, he wasn’t even breathing, he was simply standing still, like a statue. Yeetlhy walked up to him. She touched him a bit, there was no reaction. The screen was displaying her affinity with water and fire magic, which was non-existent. Upon seeing that, she collapsed.
It took Yeetlhy some time to accept her fate. It was truly all over now. She was a failure. No matter all the efforts she would put in her hard work, she will always be seen as a garbage daughter with no magical abilities. She stood up and walked towards the door, unaware that time had stopped. And obviously, when she tried to open the door, it wouldn’t budge. Tears were flowing down on her face. Fear took over her trembling body, and she collapsed a second time.
People were screaming and crying. She could smell smoke and blood in the air. Yeetlhy opened her eyes. This time the room was dark. The examiner wasn’t there. It was a huge isolated dark place. The only source of light came from multiple small windows far away. While walking towards those windows, she saw fire and chaos. People were either running away or attacking each other. She was petrified, through the windows, she could see Yellen in shambles. Blood and dead bodies everywhere. People mechanically walking. She could hear screams and tears. Even more than that, she could feel it. All those emotions were suffocating her. A window attracted her attention. For a moment she saw a familiar silhouette. She saw it again on another window, and again and again. Yeetlhy was falling into despair as she recognized her own body walking in the middle of this bloodshed. It was moving on his own accord. Unable to control it, the girl looked with terror at the spectacle that became her life.
