It’s a beautiful day outside. Birds are singing, flowers are blooming… on days like these, kids like me…
SHOULDN’T BE IN A MORIBUND POKEMON BATTLE AGAINST A PSYCHO CREEP AND HIS PET COBRA THAT’S DEFINITELY OUT TO KILL ME.
Well okay, I’m not a kid… or rather I was not a kid. But due to some peculiar turn of events the 22 year old NEET, aka me, is now in the body of a 14 year old loli… But that’s not the worst part. After failing miserably at my first life and waking up bondaged on a ship, blindfolded and throat fucked by a ghost and hit in the face with an explosion, I’m finally given a chance at my second life…
In the worst fucking possible scenario.
Whoever organized this Blissey’s moveset should just go to hell.
Okay maybe that was kinda mean to say to someone that’s still MIA.
“Blibly! Heal Pulse again!”
A magenta pulse of aura began pulsating through the pink egg-like creature’s round body. With a mighty yelp, the pulse began bouncing out of her stubby arms and between the walls and its cracks towards its designated target, resulting in a dim lime glow and a few shiny splashes of particles atop the aggravated and very irritated-looking cobra.
The scaly monstrocity scanned its serpentine body up and down, and then again, and then once more to make sure. Then it crooked its broad hooded neck in confusion at the lack of any damage that followed from the same “assault” twice in a row now.
“Wrap her up, Arby!” Although just as confused as his Pokemon was, the grunt didn’t hesitate at all and continued his instructions for another onslaught of attacks.
The grotesque snake decided to cease thinking and instead put that energy into hissing and slithering. This proved very effective as it approached Blibly with blinding speeds, wrapping its scaly flesh tightly around her before she even had a chance to react.
Blibly tried her best to fight against being taken hostage, but her struggling only tightened the grip even more. The poor Pokemon couldn’t help but cry out in pain as the scales dug deeper into her skin.
Just then, I felt a tug in my heart from Blibly’s screams. It was a similar tug to when Fred told me about his lost sister, the sort of emotion that made my chest tighter and breathing faster. But this time it was somehow… even stronger?
What… is this even?
No… I can't afford to be distracted, the situation isn’t looking good at all. Fred’s Pokedex is showing that Blissey’s HP bar is already in the yellows, meaning it has dropped at least below half. No matter how high her Special Defense is, tanking numerous Sludge Bombs and now a Wrap too was bound to wear her out…
The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement.
Fortunately Blisseys don’t just pride themself with their top-notch Special Defense… They also have one of the best self-recovery moves in the game.
“Now Blibly! Soft-Boiled!”
Right after I gave out the command, the egg in her front pocket began to glow and radiate in a golden light that kept getting stronger. Judging from the Arbok and its owner’s panicked reaction it was easy to assume that they had never seen this move before.
Well technically this is my first time seeing it outside of the game as well. I don’t blame them for being alarmed though. With how much light the egg is giving off, it sure does make it look like it’s about to go off.
“Don’t you let go of that Blissey you hear me!? Take it down even if it kills you!”
Yikes… talk about being rotten to the core… Well, good thing no one is gonna die from this, since this move is actually…
Just when the egg looked as if it was about to explode, the light dimmed down and instead basked its user in a warm verdant glow. A quick glance at the Pokedex revealed that Blissey’s HP had climbed back up to around 90%.
That’s right… Soft-Boiled heals its user for 50% of their max HP. Access to this insane recovery move and her sky-high Special Defense stat is what makes Blissey one of the best stall Pokemon to ever exist! But her high survivability comes at a cost…
“Ku…ku ku… I’ve been thinking for a while now but… none of your attacks do any damage…” The PLA grunt mused in his blood-curdling voice, “could it be… you don’t have any means of attacking me..? Ku ku ku…in that case, I’ll just have to wear you out! Arby, Poison Sting!”
Needles began hurling out of the Arbok’s mouth, pelting the helpless Blissey at point blank range. Except this time, she grimaced and took the brunt of the attack without uttering a sound. But somehow it made the tugging in my chest even worse.
Endure it… I need to… focus…
Just a few more turns before her PP completely runs out…
“Life Dew! And then Heal Pulse again!” I yelled out in a shaky voice while putting on a brave front. In truth, I was nearing my limit already. Faced with a terror-inducing monster snake and its atrocious owner right after barely recovering, not to mention this strange tightness in my chest… I’ve had enough…
What did I even do to deserve this…
In the distance I could still see the battle going on. I could see Blibly doing her best to hold out against the assaults. I could see her being pelted again and again by the Arbok’s storm of needles. I could see her HP bar being slowly whittled down, and the PSN sign on the Pokedex’s screen indicating that she’s been poisoned.
But everything looked so distant… as if I was in a dream, or maybe even a game where I was only a spectator. But I was still being pulled deeper and deeper, until I eventually began to zone out everything, with only the beeping of the Pokedex still audible in the background.
That sound… Blibly is gonna faint… I need to do something… I need to-
You’ve become weak.
It happened again, the voice of that one person I never wished to hear echoing through my ears.
No… not now, mother… please…
What is there to cry about? What do you even know about trauma?
I’m sorry… I’m sorry I won’t cry anymore so please…
Please don’t leav-
“Thank you… for protecting me…”
“E-Eh?” I’ve been pulled out from my own daze by a familiar voice that wasn’t from within my head, but no one should be around right now… “F-Fred??”
“Ahaha… you finally called me by my name… no need to cry anymore, Suika… since I’ll be here to protect yo-” Fred tried his best to squeeze out his last few words through gritted teeth, but in the end he fell short a word or two.
“Fred you… you called me by my name as well…” Although it was a name that was given to me for no more than a day, although we’ve only known each other for a week, although I was just a failure that wasn’t needed by anybody all my life…
Although you probably can’t even hear me right now…
I thank you from the bottom of whatever is left of my heart. You can leave the rest to me.
For once in my directionless life I knew exactly what I needed to do, and the feeling reinvigorated me greatly as I gathered every last bit of energy left and shouted out the move that was going to change the tide of the battle.
“Blibly! Use Last Resort!”
