I took a deep breath and composed myself. This may have been good now that I think about it, if we were fighting with swords I would’ve lost for sure, but since we’re fist fighting, I’m confident.
I got into a stance and eyed my opponent.
He was a little bit shorter than me and had green hair. Looking at his stance it didn’t seem like he was confident.
“Start!”
I could hear the teacher yell and Lucas immediately rushed me.
His punches were fast, and his movement was faster, but they looked so sloppy.
I was able to easily dodge his jabs, the only thing that concerned me was how I could feel a sharp breeze with every punch.
“Tch!”
With every punch Lucas made he overextended, he left himself completely wide open.
A few dozen seconds went by as he continued his onslaught
“Why aren’t you attacking!?”
I haven’t thrown a single punch yet; I was getting used to his attacks. Although they were sloppy, they were fast and packed a lot of power.
He continued his attack, and I could see him start to breathe heavier.
It was about time I counterattacked.
I rushed towards him unexpectedly, he seemed to be caught off-guard as his eyes opened wide and he threw a desperate jab.
Easily avoiding it I gave him two hook-shots to his body before hitting him with and overhand right and backing up a little.
“Agh- Huh? That didn’t hurt so ba-”
Lucas seemed surprised for a moment, but I continued my attack.
I got up close to him and began throwing punches aimed at his chin.
After a couple hits, he tried to protect his face, then I kicked his stomach.
“Puuh” Lucas put his arm on his stomach and leaned forward.
I could see him spitting on the floor, but I didn’t stop there.
I gave him a good hook to the jaw and soon followed an uppercut.
He wobbled backwards a couple feet before his eyes met with my fist.
He stepped back a couple steps and I had to think to myself.
If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
How the hell is he not down yet? Does this guy have ‘that’ guys monsters defense? Fuck it, keep punching.
I started to charge him again, but he saw me coming this time and threw a desperate punch, I was too close to fully dodge it and it grazed my cheek.
That sloppy punch made a scratch on my cheek, it started to bleed.
It didn’t matter, I threw another hook combo.
It seemed he gave up on completely defending as he tried to throw another punch.
I kicked him back before he could connect.
I stood still and watched him wobble around.
Really... How the hell is he still standing? I’m punching him with my bare fist...
After a couple seconds Lucas fell frontwards; He was unconscious.
I wiped my mouth with my hand and exhaled heavily.
Finally... But... How did he not bleed at all? Just one of his punches grazing me caused me to bleed, but he was fine? This world is weird.
In an instant we were back to where we were before. Lucas had woken up and he was being healed.
There were a lot of stares at both me and Lucas, it was as though the commoner group was saying how Lucas deserved it and the noble group was looking at me weirdly.
Lucas got up and began to yell
“Not fair! That fight doesn’t count!”
He pointed at me and then looked towards the teacher.
“Why?”
Kendel looked back at him; he was sitting like he just saw something interesting.
“His aura skills are leagues above mine! And we were bare handed! That was not a fair fight!”
Lucas seemed to grasp at any straws he could, for some reason he was refusing to accept his defeat.
Aren’t I a duke or something? Shouldn’t you only be saying that stuff if you lost to a commoner?
Lucas glared at me.
Kendel suddenly burst into laughter.
“Haha! You’re saying his Aura skills are leagues above yours?”
Lucas looked back at Kendel with a serious expression.
“Yes! It was an unfair duel as his aura proficiency easily outranked mine!”
…
Kendel spoke.
“He didn’t use aura that entire match.”
“Hu-What?” Lucas looked back at him with wide-open eyes.
The other students looked at me as well, their gazes seemed to be very confused.
Kendel continued to speak
“In fact, Kai has yet to use aura throughout the entire time he’s been here.”
Their eyes got wider, even Olly and Ella looked at me with a confused face.
Olly started to question loud enough so that everyone could hear.
“K-Kai? You haven’t used your aura yet?”
Ella seemed to nod at his question.
I could feel everyone looking at me.
What was this aura thing they kept talking about? They keep putting it on a pedestal and yet no one has even said what it was.
“I don’t know how.”
I looked at Olly and everyone's eyes opened as wide as they could.
“What!?”
I could hear some whispers in among the students
“Does that mean he beat Lucas without any aura?”
“Has he been working out without aura this whole time?”
“A duke’s son doesn’t know how to use aura?”
Olly began to laugh.
“Haha! As expected, as my friend! You could easily win against people who’ve used aura their whole lives without a sweat!”
Olly looked at Lucas who bit his lip, it looked like he wanted to say I was lying but he couldn’t because Kendel confirmed it.
Kendel began to speak.
“Next, we’ll have Oliver and Jane fight.”
It was Olly’s turn, I looked over at him and gave him a thumbs up, Ella did the same.
“Yup! Thanks!”
He said before he suddenly disappeared and was face to face with another student.
I could still feel some odd gazes on me, but I ignored them.
