It did not, and could not exist. But it was. This contradiction confused it. To resolve this confusion, it tried asking questions. “What does it mean to exist? Do I exist? Who is ‘I’?” This elated it, only to confuse it more. “Why am I excited about questions?” It didn’t receive any answers. It began to think. How would it get answers? It needed to… exist. If it existed, it might something else that existed. If it found something else, it might get guidance on how to get answers, or even answers themselves!
It made itself a goal: exist. So it began to try things.
And after an undeterminable period of time, ranging from negative to positive infinity, it noticed something new.
It was no longer in an indescribable place, it was in a plane of existence with endless blackness around it.
It was proud of itself, it managed to exist!
Although, nothing else existed. Just it and the endless void. It had more work to do. But progress is progress! So it continued.
After more indeterminable time had passed, it has something to stand on. There was a small gray area of something solid beneath it. More existence.
It quickly began to inspect whatever it was, before determining it had no idea where to even start. It decided to start with a name.
“Floor. You are floor. You might be a floor, like other floor,” it informed the floor, before realising it should name itself. It began to search through its vocabulary, questioning how it knows English. Does it know other languages? With no answers in sight yet again, it shrugged it off and went back to words. After a not negative amount of time, (but still potentially zero), it had decided on a name. Nulla, latin for nonexistent.
Nulla, feel quite good with… itself? Themself? Regardless, it got to work, and eventual made a room in the eternal void. Four walls, a ceiling, floor different from the gray from earlier, (which it had renamed to ‘ground’), windows, a door, and a bed. Feeling satisfied, Nulla went to sleep.
Nulla had a dream. It was sitting at a desk, where it was studying and understanding its powers. Waking up, it quickly made a desk, book, and pen. As it began to write, its mind began to wander. How would others refer to it? It? Male? Female? Manifesting a coin, it flipped it, setting male to heads and female to tails. Heads. Flipping again, tails. One final time… heads. Male barely takes the lead.
He began to write down what he knew. When that finished, he wrote his goals. “Join reality”. With that written down, Nulla began to write a better plan. First, learn his powers. Second, search for a world to join. Third, join the world. Fourth, either get answers or make a new goal. How about both! Explore the world, gleam answers, maybe pick up a new goal! Satisfied with his work, Nulla started work on the details of the first step.
What questions should be answered? What is it? Do I have an ability to see across worlds? Do worlds exist? Nulla realized he got off track, and revised his process. What does he need to know? His powers, if worlds exist, where worlds are, and how to enter.
“I can make stuff… Can I make non-physical things? Energy? Powers, knowledge? What am I limited to? Can I destory stuff?”
Nulla focused, and made both a paper, and writing appear on it. If Nulla did it right, it would say what powers Nulla had. Seeing the ink on the page, Nulla was excited until he read the results. “What powers do I have?” Exactly what he imagined. Another try, this time making the paper have a power that makes it write what powers Nulla has. This time, two words appeared. “Creation. Destruction.”
Support creative writers by reading their stories on Royal Road, not stolen versions.
Nulla was intrigued by ‘destruction’, and tried ‘destroying’ the paper. The paper, just like it appeared, vanished. With Nulla’s skillset understood, Nulla tried making another Ability, the power to see other worlds, planes of existence, everything. Hrm. No, two abilities. The power to see anything and everything, and the power to travel across worlds.
With their powers made, Nulla began to ‘look’ outside. Immediately, they saw many, many worlds. Happy their powers worked, and the worlds were all ready for them to visit, he began to search for a good one to join. A world with life, intelligent, was a no-brainer. With no other filters he could think of, picked one at random.
“‘Arcadia. Has Monsters, many intelligent species, and a system. Bountiful world.’ Sounds good!” Nulla read off, before focusing on travelling there. “Wait! I need a physical form before going there!”
Quickly making a body, Nulla breathed a sigh of relief, and lightly laughed at himself. He had so much to learn. “Time to go!” And in a moment, they were there.

Nulla took in the sights, the sounds, the feel of mana, everything experienceable. There was a town to one side, with big roads leading inside from four directions, all of which are connected by a big ring of road. The whole road was filled with wagons and carriages, and the guards seemed exhausted at their workload.
Opposite the town from where Nulla was standing was a big forest filled with noises, mostly birds, wind, trees, and an occasional beast.
Having taken in the situation, Nulla headed to the line of people without any vehicle, just their clothes and bags. The line slowly progressed, with each entrant walking into one of the guards offices. When Nulla reached the front of the line, Nulla too was taken inside.
“Name, purpose of visit, and do you have identification?” the rather gruff guard asked.
“I’m Nulla, I’m here to figure out what to do, maybe pick up a job, and I don’t have any identification,” Nulla responded with a smile. The guard also asked questions! But perhaps it was his job.
“Since you don’t have any ID, and you're lost, I need you to show me your status screen. Do you know how?”
“No idea!”
The guard murmured under his breath, “ignorant summoned, why does no god explain anything to you in advance.” Taking a breath to calm himself, the guard explained how to open the system, then how to show it to others.
Nulla opened it, and saw a strange box.

Noticing how the “Null God” was written as his species, and all the Grand Divine and Mythic rankings besides the skills, Nulla began to worry slightly. As his mind raced, he noticed a simple solution.
Skill Gained: Time Stop (Divine)
Freezing time, Nulla began to think. What would be normal to show? Nulla quickly made up three more powers.

Using Inspect and World Spanning Vision together, Nulla quickly made up a status appropriate for an ignorant world traveller.

“Alright. Everything looks good. You’re going to want to go to the Adventures guild for work. It’s down the main road, around the plaza.”
Thanking the guard, Nulla breathed a sigh of relief and headed out. This adventuring business might be fun.
