When I woke up, I only saw darkness. I tried to move my hand and, then the for a brief moment the whole world flashed for a few seconds. Did I do something wrong? Well I got a reaction and after a few seconds nine floating orbs flew and circled around me which then split into two groups 4 above and below me which formed a box and 1 which stayed in front of me.
Do I need to talk to this thing infront of me? Is this a microphone? I read something like this on a light novel before. I guess I need to say something. I have a wild feeling that everything will light up if I said something. I stood up straight and followed the Protoss greeting. I then shouted.
"En'Taro Adun!"
The whole world suddenly turned blue and as if it was waiting and watching me. The space surrounding me then warped and I was then placed at the center of it all. What I saw was something memorable to me.
"Hello Ivan" a voice suddenly spoke out of nowhere.
"Uhhhh...Hi?"
"Come on Ivan. Is that all you say to me?" spoke the voice again.
"Well, it can't be helped. I just died I guess. I mean, what's the use of speaking to the dead?" I replied with honest feelings.
"Hmmm...quite a pessimistic person. Hmmm...Anyway, I pulled you here to reward you for your heroic act and I have a request. I am what you call a God of Creation or something similar." The voice stated with a hint of pride in its tone.
" I see. If that is the case, can I return back to life on Earth? I would love to hug my daughter and watch her grow." I said earnestly looking in front of me.
"I would love to agree to that request but I am sorry I have to deny it. In that world, you have died already. I cannot resurrect you back to that location." the voice replied with a bit of sadness on its tone.
"I see." I looked down with tears rolling down my face.
This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road. If you spot it on Amazon, please report it.
"Ivan, I know how you feel but I want you to please move on." the voice then continued "I will say my request first, In this multiverse, we have several dimensions that can affect other universes. What I will be asking you is to destroy those races who are making too many negative effects on their universe or dimension. For now I have three dimensions that you need to pacify. Don't worry, you can start with one of them first."
"Easy for you to say 'move on' when you know its damn hard." I murmured "*sigh* You can count me in. I don't have a choice anyway. What's the perks?"
"I know you would say that" the voice exclaimed" Well of course, you get to choose any race you want and any improvements you get or add can be carried over to the next universe once you are finished with the task."
"Any race?" with a matching raised eyebrow I asked.
"ANY race." he confirmed.
"Does that mean I can be a virus for all I care?" I inquired.
"Yes but will you develop to fulfill my request?"
"Evolve!" I replied enthusiastically.
"What if that specific race who committed havoc outpaced your evolution?" he asked.
"I......" I fell into deep thought. That is correct. A virus ,though very powerful, needs a very long time to scatter and evolve. Considering it is a multiverse or dimension, that means a very, very large area to cover. Those race I need to destroy might also be adept in medical studies or has anti-virus metabolism.
"This might help you decide." the white ball of light that was in front of me expanded to form a list.
I browsed through the list. I spent a bit of time checking when I thought of an idea.
"I can sort this list right and eliminate some races I can select right?" I asked.
"Yes, you can."
"First, eliminate all non-sentient races." The list then shrunk and a large number of races disappeared.
"Second, eliminate all races which has ,right now, that is not able to do interstellar travel without the aid of technology or biochemistry or can evolve in a short period of time" The list then shrunk. I felt that the voice was about to say something. "I need speed. I need a race that can already do interstellar travel so I can expand quickly, I do understand that there are potential races that can do interstellar travel in the long run but time is of the essence."
The feeling then subsided. "Third, eliminate races that cannot adapt to harsh conditions, its okay if its aided with technology but cannot be more than 30%." the list then shrunk again.
"What are you trying to do Ivan?" the voice asked.
"I am trying to find a race that can work in harsh conditions with little aid to technology but has capability to do interstellar travel." I checked the list once again.
Races Remaining: Yautja (AVP) Tyranid (Warhammer 40K) Human (All) Protoss (StarCraft) Zerg (StarCraft) Independence Day Alien (Independence Day) Yuuzhan Vong (Star Wars) The Flood (Halo) Arachnids (Starship Troopers) The Borg (Star Trek) The Daleks (Doctor Who) Necrons (Warhammer 40K) The Reapers (Mass Effect) Zenomorph (AVP) Next>
Hmmm. As expected, most of the races on the list have biochemistry able to adapt based on the location or able to use their genetic makeup for the rest as evident on the list. Wait, Human? Why this there an (All) beside it? I was about to ask when suddenly the voice spoke.
"I know you wanted to ask about the Human(All). That means all human in several universes or dimensions. The Terran in StarCraft, Humans in other medias like Halo, Mass Effect, and such. Since it is basically the same race so we grouped them up. Which also means you can access to those universe's upgrades but you need to research them first."
Ah, okay. I took a deep breath and decided the race I want. I checked the list again to see if there are any other good options and decided the race that is best for me.
"I decided I will pick this race."
