After emptying my lungs, I made it to the school. It is eight twenty-nine exactly, there is no one at the entrance door, everyone must be already inside, I have to hurry.

As I ran through the front yard of the school, I see a girl sitting on a bench, reading her notebook calmly. The girl has short black hair with the tips dyed red that combine with her red glasses. She is wearing the school uniform; she must be taking the exam too. I wonder what she is doing there, sitting like nothing when it is this late. Maybe she doesn't know what time it is.

What should I do? Go inside? Or warn her about the time?

“Geez” I scratched my head “Ahhh! I'll go and tell her”.

I ran towards her and stood right in front still jogging so I wouldn't lose momentum.

"Hey, I don't want to alarm you, but it is already eight thirty you know" She lifts her head, and stares at me for a few seconds, I wonder if she heard me.

“I said…” before I could continue, she interrupted me.

“I heard you”.

“Then…”.

"What about it?" she replied, looking at me perplexed.

"The test starts in one minute. You are going to take the entrance exam, right? You have to hurry".

"I'm indeed taking the entrance exam. However, I have understood that it is at ten thirty not at eight thirty".

“Whaaa-!” I grabbed my phone and checked the email that the school sent me with the date of the exam.

“No way…” I fell to the ground in defeat. Just as the girl said, the exam is at ten thirty. I ran for nothing. Who did I mess up the time? I checked it last night after finishing my 48 hrs non stop study session.

"See?" the girl says to me.

"I'm such an idiot" I sat next to her and tried to catch my breath.

"Indeed, you are" The girl said looking at her notebook.

"That was unnecessary" I say, a little bit irritated.

"Just making sure you understand the facts".

Now, I'm starting to get pissed off. Why am I being called an idiot by this random girl?

I look at her a little bit more, now that I am sitting next to her, I see a difference in height. She is pretty short compared to me. Looking at her face, she has a small face too, with a plain expression, almost like a robot, but with those Asian traits, she looks pretty… Ah! What am I thinking, I shall not get fooled, this girl is annoying and rude. Making fun of just because I got the time wrong and arrived here too early, anyone could have made the same mistake… Wait a second…

“Hey…”

“What do you want, dumb guy?” She peeks at me with her notebook still in front of her face.

“Agh!” there she goes again, making fun of me. “What are YOU! Doing here so early?”.

"Ah, mmm..." she hid her face with her notebook “Is none of your business”.

"Aha! You also got the time wrong".

"N-no! I didn't. I just wanted to be early that's all" She tried to hide it, but I could feel her embarrassment from behind her notebook.

"Glad to know I'm not the only idiot here".

She looks at me, hiding half of her face with her notebook, although her expression is still plain, I can sense her angriness.

"I'm not an idiot!" she pouts.

"I know, I know. It's hard to accept, but you'll get used to it, Idiot".

"Hmm!" She turns her head to the side and decides to ignore me.

Vengeance completed. Hmm, maybe I teased her too much... Well, she was the one that started it, so it's fine.

Vengeance made me hungry, so before revising my notes I would eat what Jane made for me.

I pull out the bag with the things Jane left me. As I open the bag and pull out the sandwich, I hear a weird sound mixed with the sound of the plastic bag.

I stop for a moment to try and hear that sound again.

After not hearing anything, I decided to dig in but just as I was about to bite my sandwich I heard it again, this time a little clearer.

I turn to the side and see the red-haired girl pressing her hands to her stomach. I can see her shrink in embarrassment.

I assume she also ran here thinking she was going to be late and forgot to eat breakfast. If it wasn't for Jane, I would be in the same situation.

"Here" I break the sandwich in half and extend my hand to her.

She looks at me, then looks the other way.

"I don't want it" As she says that, her stomach growls again, her face turning red.

"My hand is getting tired" I shake the half sandwich.

She looks at it, hesitating, and after another help plea from her stomach she finally grabs the sandwich.

"t-thank you..." she says softly.

“Cute…” I think to myself, watching her delicate little mouth with pink lips. I get lost staring at her eating. She notices this and looks at me perplexed.

I turn my head to the front and pull a napkin and give it to her. I can see some crumbs on the side of her lips.

"You have crumbs on your face".

"Thank you..." She grabs the napkins and cleans her face, a little bit embarrassed.

I once again got a list staring at her; cute girls are dangerous. I should not fall for that trap again.

I get thirsty and pull out the chocolate shake, and just before I start drinking it, I can sense a pair of eyes staring at me, or better said, staring at my chocolate shake. I guess I'm not the only one thirsty here.

I handed my shake to her.

"Eh! Are you sure?" she asks timidly.

"Yeah, I’m sure you are pretty thirsty, just don't finish the whole bottle... Just kidding, like you would do that...".

*gulp* *gulp* *gulp*

“Seriously?!” I look at her in surprise. She emptied the whole bottle in one go.

"You said it was fine!" She looks at me, embarrassed.

"Yeah, to take a sip, not finish the whole bottle!".

"I was thirsty!".

"How can that small and cute mouth drink so much?".

"Is that supposed to be a compliment?!"

"No, it's a complaint".

“Hmm! Whatever. There is a store nearby where you can go buy yourself another drink”.

“Really? Well, yeah, I guess I can do that… Wait a minute… Why didn’t you go and get yourself a drink and food if you knew there was a store nearby?!”.

“Eh… well, it was… because… ahh”.

“You forgot your wallet, didn't you?”.

“Ah-” she turns away.

“How silly… forgetting your wallet in such a stupid mistake”.

I can feel she is angry, but she doesn't have any way to counterattack. A little bit of mockery shouldn't do too much damage, it is just a little payback from earlier.

“Well, if you would excuse me, I have a drink to buy” I stand up and start walking away. Just as I am walking, I reach into my pocket to pull my wallet. But I can't feel it. I go for my other pocket, but I can't feel it either. In a calm manner, I reach to my back pockets then my front pockets again, then back and front for a few more times.

“Fuck” I thought to myself.

“I thought you were going to buy yourself something to drink”.

“Yeah… No, I- I just realized I’m not that thirsty” I go back to sit on the bench.

“Ohh, is that so?”.

“Hmm” I nod.

“Ohhhh, I see. I thought you forgot your wallet. That would have been really embarrassing, right?”.

“...” I nod.

“Telling someone that they are stupid for forgetting their wallet, then doing the same thing. I couldn't live with such an experience, really, I would prefer to die instead. But you are not that stupid, right? Dumb guy?”.

“Yeah…” I can only accept her words silently. I want to bury my face in the center of earth.

The girl looks at me, stands up and walks away, inside the school.

Even though she left, I still feel embarrassed for what happened. I am going to revise my notes so I can clear up my head. I have a few problems that I still don't understand, but hopefully they won't be on the exam, I will still try to figure them out, just in case.

After ten minutes of revision, I still cannot solve these problems. I have been trying for the past two weeks but I am still unable to solve them. I look at the problem and my solutions trying to find where the error is, focusing with all my might, when suddenly.

"That's incorrect...".

“UWAHH!” I scream in surprise.

“So noisy” The girl says in a disgusting tone.

“You scared the hell out of me!”.

“Is that so?”.

“Yeah!”.

“Well, I apologize about that, I just couldn’t stay quiet seeing you miss that easy problem in such a horrendous way”.

“What do you mean by that?!” I say irritated.

“What you heard. Such an easy exercise should be done in mere seconds”.

“HUH! This is not an easy exercise; these things require time and concentration”.

“Hold this for a sec” she gives me a white cup with hot liquid inside “Give me that” she takes my notebook out of my hand and starts writing on it.

“Hey! What are you doing?”.

“Here, done”.

I grabbed my notebook back and I found the problem solved.

“Whaa!?” How did she solve it so fast? Is that even humanly possible? “You solved this faster than you emptied my chocolate shake”.

“Ek…” she trembles a little “I will please ask you to forget that event”.

“How can I forget that? You went full elephant mode and completely emptied my shake in record time. That had to be a Guinness record for sure”.

“-Hump-” she turned around and started to walk away.

“Hey, wait! You’re forgetting this” I shake the warm cup.

“You can have it” she walks away.

I open it and I can smell coffee. Where did she get this? I see the cup in more detail, and I see the school crest on the side of it. Does the school sell coffee? Now that I think about it, I haven't entered the school yet.

After entering the main building, I see tables with cups and big bottles with coffee on them. It has a big sign on top that says, “Good Luck”. I guess she got the coffee from here. So, she found that there was coffee and grabbed one for me? Hmm… I guess I'll have to say thanks to her, after all, I might have teased her too much earlier.

Now, where should I look for her?
