Interlude II

The girl stood leaning against the wall of the ship overlooking the endless blue sea in front of her. Her platinum blonde hair bellowed in the wind, and she grew slightly annoyed as a specific strand kept blowing into her face. Using her own source of wind, her breath, she repeatedly blew at it, satisfied once it finally returned to where it belonged.

Until it blew in her face once again.

"If only there was some sort of invention that held your hair back for you. Oh right, it's called a hair tie." The black-haired man smirked at his childhood friend.

"Very funny." She pouted, crossing her arms. "I like to feel the hair in my wind. I just don't like it when it ends up in my face."

"Then why not a headband?"

"Didn't think to bring one with me." She frowned. "I shouldn't have gone on this stupid trip anyway. There are so many reports I need to finish and—"

"That's exactly why you should be here enjoying yourself." He patted her on the head the same way he had done when they were children. "Work's always going to be there. Moments like these are ephemeral."

"Says the king of procrastination." She elbowed him in the side. "Ares, you're so smart. If only you would apply yourself more..."

"And exist to work like you? No thanks. I enjoy life."

"Yep. You sure seemed to be enjoying yourself in the lobby earlier." She snickered at the memory.

Ares sighed, shaking his head before burying it in his palm. "That accountant was annoying. Let's hope we don't bump into him again."

"Ares? What are your plans for life? I mean, after that internship is over do you think you'll pursue engineering?"

"Well... I am enjoying it. I want to make life easier for others, you know?"

She giggled. "I know. You're always thinking about others." She glanced down at the marble flooring of the ship. Interesting touch. Not one she would've picked herself.

"Do you still want to become a doctor?"

"Yes." She looked back up at him nodding her head. "I've been thinking about it more and more. My current line of work... It isn't enough to satisfy me."

Ares nodded. He always thought she would make an amazing doctor with her empathy. So long as she didn't become a pediatrician.
