Chapter 157: Back

Sam and I celebrate our victory a little longer, locked in a kiss as we were, before we get up again and talk a bit with our family about our little game and how fricking amazing it was.

That’s when I see Brianna walk towards us from the corner of my eye. She looks slightly uncomfortable, something Hilda also apparently caught on to.

“Is something wrong, Brianna?” Hilda asks.

Brianna bounces back a little, presumably a bit shocked we caught on so fast. “Uh… not wrong perse…” rubs her hands. “It’s just that I wanted to ask something…”

“Sure, go ahead.” My sister nods.

“I was wondering if we could go home a bit earlier than planned… Not that I don’t like it here or that I don’t enjoy your company.”

“Are you not feeling well?” I ask. “I can heal you if you want.”

“I think she’s a bit homesick.” Hilda smiles at me. “That’s sadly not something you can heal that easily.”

“How did you know?” Brianna asks.

“Your personality and the fact that you don’t really leave the capital that often for long trips.” Hilda smiles, this time back at Brianna. “It’s nothing to feel sorry about or to be ashamed of.”

“So… you want to take me back?”

“I can take you back faster than you might expect.” I smile.

“Oh?”

“Is there something you want to take with you?”

“I have some flowers and vegetables I’d like to take with me… I already put them in cloth bags. Do you want me to go and put them in the walker?”

“That won’t be necessary.” My sister replies for me.

Brianna suddenly looks terribly confused. “What do you mean? Aren’t we going back with it?”

“Did we forget to tell her how we are going to go back? I can’t actually remember.” Hilda says as she scratches her chin.

“You see.” Lise continues. “My sweet sister here has this very very useful skill. It’s called teleportation. The instant travel between two places.”

“Wow! Really?” It almost looks as if Brianna’s eyes grow ‘till about twice their size.

“Yes.” I nod. “We can bring you back home rather quickly.”

“But… why didn’t we teleport here then.”

“I need to have seen the location first. Either from someone’s memory or having been there myself.”

“From someone’s memory?”

“It’s a long story.” I chuckle. “Also rather unpleasant.”

“Ah… then I won’t ask any further questions about it.”

“Thank you.” I smile.

“Just let us put on some clothes and then we can help you get home.” My sister puts her hand on my shoulder.

“Are you coming as well?” I ask.

“I’m coming too.” Hilda nods. “It’s easier to carry the bags inside of her store with more people, isn’t it.”

“Do you need the two of us too?” My girlfriend asks.

“How many bags are there?” Hilda looks back to Brianna.

“Just three of them.” Brianna replies.

“Well, you can still come along if you want to.” I say.

“Sam and I can stay behind to keep an eye on the camp while you are gone. In the meantime we can play a 1 versus 1.”

“I’m all for that idea, as long as you don’t leave us alone to fend for ourselves here.” Sam is clearly ready for another match.

The narrative has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

“I’d never leave you behind!” I reply.

“Then Nikki and I will stay and will await your return with glee.” Sam gives me a wink, it makes me blush a little.

“Okay, Brianna, the three of us will get into some more fitting clothes, after that we can go.”

“Thank you. I will be at the bags, I put them next to the storage.”

“We will join you.” Lise gives her a nod.

Brianna happily runs off.

“She looks terribly happy she can go home.” My sister laughs.

“Well, I would be too if I didn’t have to ride the walker back. As useful as it is, it’s still pretty uncomfortable.” Hilda chuckles.

“You could always install a toilet on it or something.”

“You want to poo on the back of the walker? In plain view of everyone and everything?”

“....”

“Yes, I thought so too. If it were a train I’d totally agree though.”

-Trains are the best.-

Me, my sister and Hilda get back into our normal clothes so that we don’t have to walk through the Dwarger capital in our bathing suits or our underwear. After which we meet back up with Brianna. The bags of flowers and vegetables look a bit bigger than I’d personally expected, but it’s not something Hilda and my sister can’t handle.

“How does this work?” Brianna asks.

“You just need to stay close to me.” I reply. “It might be best that you are all holding a bag though.”

Everyone gives me an affirmative nod as they each take one bag for themselves.

“I’ll just try to drop us off at the front of your store.”

“Try?”

“I’ve only done it a couple of times.”

“That… doesn’t sound very reassuring.”

“Ami can do it, no problem.” My sister replies, full of confidence.

I personally wouldn’t be that confident, but as long as nothing pulls me completely out of my concentration, very little can go wrong. “Is everyone ready?” I ask and look around at our little group.

They each give me a nod once again.

“Okay… here we go.” I try to picture the front of Brianna’s store. “Oh!” a thought suddenly comes to my mind, breaking my concentration. “Before I forget. It’s best you close your eyes.”

“Ah right!” Hilda agrees. “Yeah, that’s best, it’s extremely disorienting if you keep your eyes open, it might make you nauseous too.”

“Oh. Thanks!” Brianna smiles and then closes her eyes. The same goes for Hilda and my sister.

Now that that’s said and done. I close my eyes yet again and start concentrating on the shop once more. Channeling my magic powers throughout my body, I can feel it flowing from the tips of my fingers all the way down to my toes. A gust of wind picks up and enveloppes us, only for it to calm down as fast as it came up. The distant buzzing of townsfolk means the teleport was a success once again.

“Wow!” Brianna comments rather loudly, making me open my eyes. “That’s amazing! I mean… you said you could teleport, but just to be outside of my own shop in an instant is just crazy.”

“It definitely is. This is only the second time for Hilda and me as well.” Lise says as she looks around. The rest of the street is pretty much as empty as the last time we were here.

“Only the second time?”

“I’ve only learned how to do it recently.” I rub the back of my head, slightly embarrassed by the indirect praise I was receiving.

“Wow. Just wow.” Brianna looks incredibly happy.

“Why don’t we take the bags inside?” Hilda points at the door.

“Right! Good idea!” Brianna nods and walks over the door to open it for us.

I follow my sister and Hilda inside, while I’m not really carrying a bag, it would be a bit awkward to stay outside all by myself.

“Oh, it really smells great in here.” My sister comments.

The flowery smell is pretty nice. But maybe a bit too strong for me if I were to stay here for too long. I guess you could get used to it but this little nose I have is pretty sensitive.

What I like most about the inside of the store is the extremely wide array of different flowers that are being displayed in almost as many different flower pots and vases.

“Where do we need to put these?” Hilda asks while she looks around.

“Just put them on the counter!” Brianna is already deep inside of the store, somewhere in the back.

“Uh… which of these tables is the counter?” Lise asks.

“I presume it’s the one with the scales.” Hilda shrugs as the both walk off.

I in the meantime keep looking at all the different designs on the vases. Some of them remind me of the antique vases you’d sometimes see in the windows of antique stores. But instead of pictures of fields and farm life, it’s depicting cogs and engineering instead.

“Thank you!” I can hear Brianna walk back closer to us. Hilda and my sister have apparently found the right counter to put the bags on. “Do you like that flower Amicia?”

I turn my gaze towards the direction I hear her voice come from. “Ah, no. I was just admiring your vases….” I stop for a second. “Not that I don’t like the flowers! But this just really pulled my attention.”

“Do you want it? I have some more in the storage in the back. If you want a couple like those I could give them to you for free. You can see it as a payment for getting me home so fast.”

“Oh… uh…”

“What do you say, Ami. Want to take her up on her offer?” Hilda smiles. “You could use them to decorate your room with plants back at the house.”

“Are you sure I can have a couple?”

“Definitely, I have so many different ones in the back. I’m not going to run out any time soon. Unless some big flightless monster comes running through my store.”

My sister suddenly turns around. “Brianna, lass, what did we say about jinxing things? I don’t plan on getting thrown throughout the city again.”

“Ah, right. Sorry.”

I chuckle. “Alright, I’ll take a couple of you don’t mind.”

-I hope Sam likes these too, but I have the feeling she will.-
